I would have thought, if there was any justice in this world, that Chris Walton, James and their team would either be in jail or bankrupt! I previously used them for a big project and it was a nightmare right from the beginning. In my opinion their work was subpar sloppy, and very unprofessional. They installed and used items that were not approved and when I disputed them I was threatened with a builder's lien if I did not pay. If you are thinking about this company, I would run not walk..run as fast as you can in the opposite direction! Worst experience I've ever had with any number of my properties when doing renovations for a flip.

Especially since we were left with no gutters, and a roof that scared the heck out of every contractor that laid eyes on it. Then he pointed out which issues needed to be fixed immediately, which could wait, and which were optional. And, for the biggest repairs, he was even able to come up with some creative options for us that balanced quality and lower cost. Truly an amazing contractor and person. I allowed these guys to use my property to access their job with my neighbour. The guy with the…read morepony tail chastised me for replacing my concrete driveway with gravel, broke my driveway border, didnt bring enough plywood to drive the machine on- messing up/digging up my driveway, complained about the job to his coworker ESPECIALLY when he had to do shoveling, told me not wrecking my fence post was the furthest worry from his mind, called his boss to talk about billing 1/2 way thru, and I heard him tell my neighbour " I don't care, I can stand around here all day and keep billing you. I called the main# and spoke to the owner who argued with me and then hung up on me when I told him I was calling him as a courtesy so that he could educate his staff on professional conduct. No masks or distancing. Left garbage by my garage and clods of dirt all over the cul de sac and cigarette butts.

This contractor has been hard to work with; scheduling and communication were the biggest issues. Many times, Eugene would schedule a date and time to work on our driveway but end up cancelling or not even show up. (Often times to work on other jobs or attend medical issues). This driveway has been worked on since early August 2021 and was never finished. He made our driveway WORSE than we originally had. Eugene was originally hired to remove tree roots on two parts of our driveway but ended up just removing the top layer of existing driveway and covering the existing roots with his new material. The rain washed away that new material and that was when we discovered he didn't even remove any tree roots. Literally just covered the roots with road base to hide the roots... Additionally, the rain washed away most of the new driveway material leaving us with a WORSE driveway than before we hired Eugene and Protect Paving Solutions. Eugene offered to lay brand new asphalt over his recycle road base that would have costed 1.5x to 2x the material/labor costs of the original contract. We did not accept that solution as we offered an cheaper solution which was to remove his material he had lay down or return a partial refund. He has been unreachable via phone, text message and email.
