*** I recently attended a screening hosted by KCRW, The Document. ***…read more The movie was titled "Maiden" about the Whitbread Round the World yacht race. It was a grueling open-ocean race dominated historically by only men. But in 1989, a young woman put together an all-female crew to challenge that. The Document invited hundreds of KCRW members to attend, so I RSVP'd. And I'm glad that I did. This film is inspirational. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/writers-guild-theater-beverly-hills-2?select=mGn0PJVXuasfx_E_5a1E9g I am not a woman and I don't sail, yet even I was inspired by this story. These women sailed the sea for about six months against tremendous odds (including the Southern Ocean off the coast of Antartica). Amazing! That inspires me to challenge myself much more in my life as a result. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/writers-guild-theater-beverly-hills-2?select=LMNKf0eXIqhQnlkXLtAKaw There were several food trucks and complimentary wine followed by a Q&A with the yacht captain Tracy Edwards and "Maiden" director Alex Holmes. Overall, a very nice event held at the Writer's Guild theatre. *** I don't subscribe to KCRW for its perks, but nice to partake. ;p ***

What I don't really like, though, are the number of female artists that sound pretty much all alike. That bores me incredibly, and I'm a woman! I'm listening right now, and ever since I put it on about 20 minutes ago, every artist is a female with the same annoying types of voice. I wish they would vary it more. Maybe that's what the record companies are currently pushing. This could improve...

After multiple email exchanges over their course of 4 years. begging the writer to at least do his due diligence regarding basic facts of the people he incorrectly reports on, continuously refusing to simply add the word "allegedly". Repeated denied offers of viewing official public records for correcting wildly inaccurate stories were denied, that were not even needed because a basic web search and background check would tell the truth, that would include warning the neighborhood about dangerous residents. These resident's names were coincidentally omitted from the article, indicating using shady sources with malicious intent. Lastly, community members commented in support of the article, with no knowledge of the falsified incident, encouraging guilt before innocence.
