This was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration that our family had been looking forward to for a long time. We had guests traveling from far away specifically to be there and celebrate this incredible milestone with us. Unfortunately, what should have been a beautiful and memorable evening turned into an extremely disappointing and stressful experience because of the lack of service and concern from the owners. Halfway through the party, the AC stopped working, and the entire hall became extremely hot and uncomfortable. It was a hot summer night, and functioning air conditioning was absolutely necessary. We repeatedly asked the owner for help and kept having to beg for someone to address the AC problem. Instead of taking responsibility or making a serious effort to resolve the issue, we were given excuse after excuse. At first, we were told that the AC was on and working fine and that the problem was simply because there were too many people. Later, the explanation changed and we were told it was the city's fault. The story kept changing, and despite being told that someone would come to fix the problem, nobody ever showed up and the issue was never fixed. All guests were visibly sweating and extremely uncomfortable. Eventually, almost half of the guests had to go outside just to escape the heat. People who had traveled from far away to celebrate our grandmother's 100th birthday were sitting outside because it was unbearable inside the hall. What was especially upsetting was the complete lack of urgency and concern from the owners. We understand that unexpected problems can happen, but what matters is how a business responds when something goes wrong. There was no meaningful effort to make the situation better, no alternative solution offered, and no sense that the owners genuinely cared about the hosts or the guests. Because of how uncomfortable and unpleasant the situation became, the guests started leaving early, well before the time we had reserved the hall. It was heartbreaking to see a celebration we had put so much time, effort, and money into end this way. A 100th birthday is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, and unfortunately, this venue did not treat it that way. We were left feeling like our event and guests simply did not matter. I would not recommend this banquet hall. If you are planning an important event, especially one involving elderly guests, children, or people traveling from out of town, I would strongly encourage you to ask very specific questions about everything, and how the owners handle problems when something goes wrong. This was supposed to be a beautiful celebration. Instead, the poor service and lack of care from the owners became one of the biggest disappointments of the night.

I finally had a chance to visit for a Tarzana Music Night last week. What a fun event! Because the weather was being forecasted to be cool with the potential of rain, the event was held indoors. Things were comfortable, but we were in close quarters with the other attendees. The sound was great and the performances were a lot of fun. I was primarily there to see a good friend perform, but I also had the chance to see some other talented musicians. I think each one was a singer songwriter, and I enjoyed each performance. Each one of the people that was working at the venue, which I imagine may have been on a volunteer basis, was friendly and a lot of fun. Normally the music nights are held outdoors, and I can imagine that most of the year, it is a lot of fun being in the open air.

PARKING - Def uber/LYFT to them. There are only a few spots in the back you can get to from the side street (not from Ventura blvd) and thats it! So do yourself a favor and get a ride. Lyft must know about this place because the driver knew exactly where to meet us in the back when we booked our return. For us it was a calm but fun summer evening hang outside! I don't know what its like without a band playing but hope I get a chance to check that out too.
