Terrible customer service skill, won't mention his name publicly. He lacks compassion, and is a literal robot. I think patient care requires a woman's love and touch and you won't get it from him. This guy totally lacks emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and human to human emotion aka empathy. He will also argue with you and has a strong willingness to be "right". This is my second miserable interaction with him and it is like dealing with the dmv. They're not really there to help. My ceramic crown that I got done here 2 years ago broke off so I needed to see what the office can do to repair it. He literally tells me "well, you ONLY paid 880 for them and the price has gone up since then". Please don't tell me to pay the same amount for a subpar job... prior to getting it done here, I had my previous crown for 20+ years. They don't care about you, you'll get better service and job done elsewhere. Don't waste your time and money here. I have been going here since I was 19 to get work done and I am 38 now. I had a crown placed less than 4 years ago and it cracked in half while eating a cooked carrot. I researched everywhere and no crown should just crack off at least not before 10 or 15 years. Most dentists cover at least the first five years. When I went in Dr. Dohney to show him he proceeded to blame it on my grinding, and I wear a mouthguard at night! Even my current dentist said that is not the reason why it should crack off. I hope they used good materials considering the discounted price they gave me back four years ago. I remember they shaved down my actual teeth on the bottom to fit this crown instead of adjusting or fixing the crown itself. They would not replace it or give me my money back. I reasoned with the office manager and I understand they couldn't give me ALL of my money back so I asked if they were willing to do a small credit of $400 just half of what I paid so I can use it at my new dentist and get it done. He said he would call me back and he never did. Considering I've been going there for so long, you would think they would take care of me, but instead they treated me like nothing that is why I moved dentists in the first place. All the work on my teeth over the years has been subpar. I even paid for all of my mercury to be pulled out of my fillings years ago and the crown that cracked off has mercury all over it. I had a veneer done here as well years ago and it looks like a small tooth because they didn't raise the gum and so it looks like a short tooth. I'm extremely disappointed that they wouldn't even offer a small credit to use so I can get my tooth done now I still have a exposed tooth, a small nub with mercury showing. read more

Easily the best dental practice I've ever been to. I've had shoddy dental work in the past that's led to some serious issues and they took care of all of them incredibly easily and with the utmost care. My fear of the dentist was met with compassion and kindness and I never had an issue when asking for pain management. The staff here are also incredibly helpful in terms of walking patients through the process of insurance requests and conflicts. Worst place to go! Went at the start of the Pandemic and was hold I only needed one crown, kept going every 3 months for cleaning, getting X rays when needed and found out from another dentist I had a very serious problem and they never mention how bad things were getting. Worst ..run don't walk. Seems they Not even one star. Trying again. Day one..charming ..gentle. 2nd day..treatment begins..2 hours to pull tooth I called to say a tooth on other side a tooth felt loose ..desk manager said it happens then it tightens up. ..... 3rd visit..drilled two teeth on either side of extraction..ended up drilling under tongue..and when I addressed it next visit his response was "your tongue was moving. So painful and had to ask for antibiotics I now had temporary bridge.......after 2 weeks it fell out and where he drilled other teeth..he left them so sharp and jagged that I cut under my tongue where he had drilled.. 4th visit..to get permanent bridge..i kid u not..the color was off in such a stark amount of shades .id have laughed..but it was on me and I got very upset. He said "you'll just be smiling.." As if it wouldn't show. He said come back in 2 days ..we will make a new one. I have it now....... I asked for a cleaning and he was so forceful. that area where tooth was loose ..i reacted..his response wad "oh..you have tenderness in gums" I asked him to look and he said you're fine. Side note ..when I addressed that I called for him to call regarding the bridge falling out and needed reassurance..he did not return call. I called my original dentist and he returned my call. I will be staying with him..i only went to Dr Emanuel as he took Medicare..dont do it .. Pay for proper care. Upon going to my good dentist about loose tooth..the problem is mine and I'm getting it fixed..but it's suspect that it appeared after Dr. Donny worked on me. By the way they have excuses for whatever you approach them with..such as why didn't u return my "2" calls. He said he didn't know I called. I got home and 1st flossing I realized the bridge is SOLID and called them about flossing ..and desk manager said to get a special floss .. I asked why didn't u tell me this. He said ..im sorry. I don't do these reviews but in this case I felt it best to put it out there. Please weigh this with any glowing reviews he may have. I originally posted a very good review for this office, but have changed my mind after dealing with this office over the last 3+ years. My daughter had braces put on, and after getting them off her mouth reminds me of Lisa Simpson from the Simpson's. I had complained about her bite many times, but other than prescribing rubber bands nothing changed. She also has a loose tooth that the doctor claimed he was going to remove since another tooth was underneath, but didn't and now it's loose and the braces are off. Now with the retainer they were supposed to call us for maintenance this month. They didn't call so I called and am still waiting for a callback for an appointment. I stopped going over a year ago because I went for a cleaning and Dr. Donny examined my mouth, said I had strong teeth then walked out of the room. I asked the girl if he was coming back and she said "no he just told me to polish you. You didn't need a cleaning." Well, I don't always floss and really needed a cleaning. This is not the first time I've received lack luster service from him which is why I stopped making appointments. I waited for open enrollment to change dentists because I didn't like the service. Dr. Donny also did shotty work on a root canal that is bothering me and has to be fixed. This is the worst dentist office I have every been to. I have complained many times to Maurico the guy that works in the front office. He is the only one that seems like he care. I believe the dentist is only interested in the payout. I have to get my daughters braces done over again. Her mouth looks horrible. It's okay Dr. Donny...Don't call for the follow-up. My experience was wonderful & smooth from the moment I called to schedule my first appointment to walking out after my treatment. I went for a teeth cleaning through my Medicare insurance and they basically did NOTHING. They looked at my teeth and said everything looked good but didn't clean the plaque or floss my teeth. All they did was polish and 30 x-rays. It was a joke!!! I felt like they just acted like they cleaned my teeth to get paid from Medicare. So let's start from the beginning... Yesterday, I received a notice of approval for Medical. As some may know, it's difficult to find a good dentist or Doctor that approves Medical. Through my search at Yelp, I called certain places and asked if they approved it and unfortunate, they didn't until I called here, at Van Nuys Dental Care. Thankfully, they did accept Medical, but I do advice anyone to call them before hand in regards of insurance and or Medical so you are given the right information and if you have any questions or concern they can answer them right than and there before you are taken by surprise. Anyways, the receptionist was helpful and friendly and she was able to put me in for today which was great! Upon my arrival, you do the typical paperwork Oh and before I forget PARK IN THE BACK OF THE BUILDING, your car could be towed if parked on the street. I was very blind to notice the "heads up" on their door before going inside their office. When I was taken to the room, x- rays were being done by a friendly staff ( I forgot her name, I'm sorry), but she had colored hair. She walked me through everything she was doing. I believe his name is Donny ( I'm sorry guys! I'm bad with names) asked general questions, he examine my teeth and told me what his conclusions were and what needed to be done, he also took pictures of my teeth and showed me to explain what he was referring to when he did the examination. The procedure that had to be done was not covered by the insurance so it was out of my pocket. Which again, I encourage everyone to call and ask questions before coming in. Overall experience, it was great! The staff was very friendly, helpful, and informative. My teeth ... Well they are looking sparkling clean "feeling the gaps between my teeth" no more tarter. I got in at 9 am, took about 10 minutes to do my new patient paperwork, got in the chair for x-rays. These were the cool kind where you don't have to bite much, and very comfortable - no stabbing plastic like when we were kids. Then the doc took pics of my tartar build up, which I knew was there, but it was interesting to see. Then he did the FASTEST cleaning I have ever experienced. Finally, the dental asst did my polish. All of this and I was out of there by 9:45 am. TELL ME THAT ISN'T FAST?! And I was a new patient. Mind you, my teeth are pretty perfect tho - I keep up with my cleanings. But being new to Los Angeles, I found my dentist and I'm already feeling pretty loyal. Great staff, fast service, super clean teeth. I recently had a bridge replaced by Dr. Emanuel. Initially I was skeptical of how my experience would be as my bridge cracked the same day it was place. It is to be noted this was most likely not the fault of the application process as this is most likely attributed to the manufacture of the bridge. Moving forward I was given excellent customer service and my issue was resolved swiftly. Dr. Emanuel was kind enough to keep the mold for me after the bridge was applied so that another impression was not required, which would've taken at least another 2 weeks to fix. Dr. Emanuel scheduled me to come in the following week to reapply the bridge and I have not had any issues since. Dr. Emanuel has excellent bedside manner and the staff is very polite and pleasant.
