A terrific place to spend a day and an outstanding value…read more My wife and I took a day trip (7/26/26) to visit and would certainly recommend it. We purchased the combo ticket for the cave tour and wildlife experience. Both were excellent. The cave tour is by boat, and we were piloted by a knowledgeable, spirited guide. And the cave is really kind of breathtaking. (We had a noon cave tour) The wildlife park tour is on a bus and again our driver was engaging and fun. The animals are well cared for, and not confined to small cages. They have space to roam and be animals. (Our park tour was 2 pm.... I mention the times so management can credit the guides if they read these reviews and do that sort of thing.) While we went for a couple's road trip, the visitors are definitely mostly families. So there are a fair amount of young ones around. Mostly, they just seemed fascinated with the cave and the animals.

You can really tell everyone here loves what they do for work, I mean seriously the tour guides are amazing. The cave and the wild tour are a MUST! We saw foxes, wild cats, Bison, Horses, among other animals . You and your family will have a great time. Specially the little ones.

Absolutely beautiful campground, Rudy was super nice and helpful and the cabin was quite a bit bigger than we had expected based on the pictures. The cabin itself was very basic, and firewood was provided for the wood burner. We were actually HOT one night and cracked the window, no worries about not being warm enough. The shower could use a little updating and there was a note that said sometimes the pilot light goes out and there might not be hot water and if that happened to find the owner and they would help. Luckily it worked, but it could use something other than a pallet to stand on ;) Look, it's not the holiday inn, but I would prefer a rustic cabin on beautiful land over a boring sterile hotel room any day!!

In my case, the room cost was lower than the hotels downtown plus being on campus was really nice for the reasons I was there. My room was well appointed with a good sized clothes hanging area. The bathroom was nicely renovated (no fan, water pressure was fine). Room decor and furniture type was interesting, older style, but perhaps I've stayed in one too many high tech modern hotels. Room service came every day. The staff as a whole were unbelievably nice and helpful to me, especially with airline issues. Dining choices were very good (both restaurants) and the Dear Joe coffee shop was a positive surprise. I would absolutely stay here again....if I have the chance.

Big windows, we were there in the evening so lots of reflection of the lighting. The staff, very very nice. I was not thrilled that I had to pay $10 to valet park my car and then of course I tipped the valet as well. Where did he park my car? Right in front of the building. Big lot, almost empty. If I didn't want to use valet services I had to park in a parking garage. The food was in my opinion overpriced. The Caesar salad was just OK and honestly there wasn't that much romaine lettuce. The cod was a very generous portion, but the sauce it was with it really overpowered it. And it was much too rich and a little too sweet so I ended up not even finishing it. I did give it to my waiter so I could take the rest of it home and I guess he forgot and never brought it back to me. So that was a loss. The potatoes were a little bit undercooked. Green beans were ok. The chicken was just ok. Honestly the only thing we found impressive, flavor-wise was the horseradish sauce. Also, before they brought the meal they asked if we wanted some bread, of course we did. They brought it in a cute little box and the bread was fine. The melting herb candle butter, it was a cute idea but it took so long for the candle to melt that we didn't get to eat the herbs that would've melted into the butter and olive oil. I get it that it's a cool visual impression, but maybe throw some herbs on the plate too. A couple sitting next to us did the exact same thing, asking if they could leave the butter behind so they could eat it with their meal because it took so long to melt. Lastly, the restaurant was not very busy and they were placing people all over the dining room. But then a couple came in and they placed them exactly next to us. When there were plenty of other places they could've put them, even just one more table over. So we had to kind of keep it quiet. I heard everything the young couple said. If it was busier, makes total sense. But they could've put them in like 15 to 20 other places. I don't think I'll be back.

Black Moshannon State Park is the place for people like me, and I reckon I'll return if I ever get the chance to meet Phillips Burg and decide to live in his town one day. The campsites, while basic, did the job with ease. I've never had a better s'more in my life in those fire pits. The falling acorns, however, made me have several Sir Isaac Newton moments and even gave my camping tent a concussion. It was nuts, but I slept like a dead dog every night. The 20 miles of hiking trails are excellent, and the bathhouse was suprisingly clean. I'll be back once I figure out what I'm doing with my life. The end.
