I brought my car to them for an oil change and was told I needed all kinds of maintenance for starters my battery was corroded and they said it needed to be cleaned I let them clean the battery terminals and they left under my hood a mess. Then they added my oil pan was cracked which I brought to the mechanic two days later and had him check it and there was nothing it was perfectly clean. They reported things to the vehicles carfax that was untruthful they said they replaced the battery terminals when they did not. They also said they serviced the power steering when I didn't even ask for that. On my paperwork from them it says power steering sealed how is that possible when the vehicle has an electric power steering unit? I will not be bringing my car back to them in the future. read more

Have your employees act in an ethical manner rather then making your customers file a complaint. Multiple scam of claiming the oil plug needs replacing and how you need to up charge filter because it's "rare." FYI we can check prices for parts at AutoZone! Also, tell the customer if there is an up charge to "top off" radiator fluid! Ps. Scumbags also told us we needed to have our AC charged as regular maintenance! Such BS! Criminal! Put the wrong oil in my car which caused INSANE burning - about a quart every 700 miles. Luckily, I could tell something was up and very quickly added oil and got my next change early. Thinking they had killed my car, I continued to check the oil every day following the second oil change. Not a drop burned. When I told them about this, they insisted they had done nothing wrong and they were not going to do anything about it. Stopped by for a synthetic oil change for a 2001 volvo station wagon, $98. Furthermore they disassembled my air box found a k&n filter but showed it to me anyway. Had to fix it when I got home since they can't put a plastic cover on straight. Took apart my cabin filter which they replaced last oil change. Really you want to change my cabin filter every oil change? Filter was covered in dirty oil. If I find finger prints on it I will have a discussion with corporate. Talked to the cashier Dan and asked about the $20 price increase. He said that they do extra things like check filters and top off wiper fluid. My wiper reservoir was low when I got back home. They wanted to rotate my tires. Tires are 2000 miles on 60000 mile tires. Really, they can't tell if they're new tires? At least they change oil fast but now based on this experience I question if they even do that. read more

I had a Groupon that I have always used there and the tech said she had to view it but as we all know, once you view a Groupon you cannot use it anymore. She then told me it was for the Warwick Store and not Westerly and I told her this is the same one I purchased 3 times before and now I lost 35 dollars because it was viewed. I paid 85 dollars for my 35 dollar Groupon oil change. Luckily, Groupon refunded me my money. I will NEVER go there again. She should have offered me the option to get a Groupon for that location which would have been 42 dollars, but still cheaper than my COMBINED total. And then 30 dollars for license plate bulbs???? Seriously...these people think we are stupid and I do not appreciate that. And 25 dollars for an air filter?????? Do not go here!!! read more

I had planned to come to Valvoline to get my oil changed and had contacted them beforehand informing them that my car will be getting towed to their location and the person on the phone told me that it would not be an issue and there was a chance they could prioritize my car, I was then told that I could go ahead and come to the store. I get to their location and was informed that due to my car being towed they could not go ahead with the service and could not touch my car. I was left completely confused and upset as I then had to pay out of pocket for my car to be towed back to my residence. I contacted another company who is able to accommodate the situation with a much better and more reasonable price read more

Sorry to report that in only 1 out of 3 visits the job was done right. The first time they left oil on the skid plate causing oily smoke and dripped oil all over my garage floor. Second trip was OK. Third visit they did not tighten bolts that held access panel in place so it came loose and was hanging by one bolt. Both "misses" required a trip back to the facility, taking my time and effort to let them fix their mistakes. No offer of a discount or free oil change to get me back on either occasion. My time is more valuable than that. Oil change is an easy operation, the reason I don't do it myself is collecting the waste oil and proper disposal are time consuming. These facilities are all set up and I'm pretty sure that waste oil is properly disposed of. A success average of .333 is good in baseball, not in the service industry. This service is marketed as a premium service at a premium price. Not nearly up to expectations. read more

I rate my experience at Valvoline Westerly less than 1 star.. an absolute AWFUL deceiving experience to say the least! I have never in my life met a more rude and belligerent 'customer service' employee in my life. I brought my vehicle in for a last minute oil change. I typically pay approximately 60-70 dollars for this service at my regular dealership. Unfortunately, due to time constraints I regretfully came here. A Valvoline employee initially reviewed on a computer screen the service with me. He added that my vehicle needed two other services in addition to the oil change. I have very limited knowledge regarding maintenance/services on vehicles but listened to him ramble. After he did his "car talk" I asked if the price on the computer screen that read 109.99 was going to be the total price, and if so, feel free to proceed with servicing my vehicle. (agreeing to the additional services under the impression I was paying exactly that price) His response was, YES. I attempted to pay right then and there but was told by him to pay after services were rendered. Approximately 10 minutes later, I was called to pay and the price that was now being presented was 345.99!! I was completely baffled! Of course, I immediately referenced our previous conversation about 109.99 and politely stated that there must have been some miscommunication and that I was not paying that price. After all, I came in for an oil change. Long story short, this particular male employee became hostile, verbally inappropriate by yelling/arguing with me in front of other customers. He made threats such as, "I know what I am doing, I have worked here a long time", you can't have your car back", "there are multiple cameras", "I guess I'll have to pay" he relentlessly carried on. I asked to speak to another employee preferably a manager. Another male came out a couple minutes after and said "not to worry about it. " Meanwhile, that RUDE, confrontational employee lacking all etiquette in customer service skills carried on with comments. I will NEVER go back to Valvoline! If I could leave negative amounts of stars I would - the shop owner was the rudest person ever and was belittling/insulting me before I even got into my car to leave. They tried to charge me triple what I usually pay for an oil change and when I told them the price was outrageous the sausage fest crew tried to challenge my knowledge of my own vehicle and told me that I didn't know what I needed to buy. Several other shops in the area quoted me at $25 and they tried to convince me that $85 was the lowest I should be paying. They were unprofessional, sexist, offensive, and I hope someone directs the Napoleon-complexed manager to a better tattoo artist and a shop that sells clothes made after 2006 and don't belong in the teenage boys section. read more

Excellent customer service, I was in and out in no time, they checked over my entire car for no extra charge while the pit tech changed the oil. Prices are reasonable considering the excellent customer service and speed. They answered all my questions and even read my Check Engine code and put the info on the invoice for my use. I won't go anywhere else but 89 Franklin st for my cars preventative maintenance from now on and I recommend you all do the same. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! They didn't tighten the oil plug, it was so loose I could turn it with two fingers. Luckily I noticed a puddle of oil in the driveway or my engine would have been destroyed. They also only tightened one of the two bolts holding the oil filter cover on. read more

I bought expensive windshield wipers there 4 months ago (the ones recommended by them because they did not have the stock ones available). Well, they fell apart in about 3 months so I went back today to resolve the situation. The "manager" (you know, that guy with the baseball hat on sideways) told me that these wipers are not under warranty and that they did not fail, someone must have stolen a part off them and then he just walked away. OK, I just went up the street to their competitor and bought replacements. That is where my wife and I will be getting our oil changes and service in the future. See ya dumbo. read more

The guys are always friendly and the work (oil changes mostly) has always been great. We had wipers put on, and they weren't working well (dragging across the window) after a few weeks. Had many a good oil change but will no longer go there. A couple months after a visit my rear differential fill bolt some how fell out and I am out $3k for the repair. 80K miles and the bolt was fine. After visiting this shop it somehow fell out. Shop manager Doug showed me a video that supposedly was my truck being worked on to 'prove' they did not touch the bolt in question. It was impossible to tell if it was my truck or what was being done down in the pit. He then showed me the fine print on the receipt and said I was out of luck. I can't prove the shop killed my differential, but all evidence points to them. Unless some vandal climbed under my truck and loosened the bolt.
