Fabulous morning doing a walking tour of Fort Worth. My parents were here for a short time and we…read morehad only one day available to do the tour - FW Tours was super accommodating and opened up a new tour just for us. Our tour guide Charlie did an excellent job covering the unique history of Fort Worth as we walked the main blocks of Sundance Square. He was a great story teller and very engaging. We felt sad to see what an impact COVID has had on the city - there are very few people out (on a Monday morning, anyway... it was hopping last Sat night!) plaza is no longer a place for gathering. The fountains are shut off, many restaurants have closed, and multiple museums have not reopened (not even the visitor center!). I wouldn't have been surprised to see a tumbleweed rolling down main street. From the tour we learned of many ups and downs Fort Worth has experienced over the years, and we hope this situation is no different. I'm ready to see Fort Worth's revival! In the meantime, whether you're a tourist or resident, check out these walking tours and fall in love with Fort Worth!

How to describe Food Walks of Texas? Fun! I was skeptical at first but, given as a birthday gift, I…read morerolled with it. Three of us met Tall Paul, the owner and tour guide on the square in McKinney Texas. When thinking about starting the business,he and his wife attended a school in Chicago on the subject. Evidently, Chicago is known for food tours. Basically, over a 5 hour period(it was supposed to be 31/2) Paul walked us around old downtown McKinney enlightening us on the history of this lovely North Texas Town and stopping in for small bites and drinks. Our first stop at 11 am on Sunday was an Irish pub! I have to think back a long time to remember when I may have been drinking beer at 11 am on Sunday! I bet 100 years ago people of McKinney would have been up in arms over beer drinking any time on Sunday, especially before church! This is the type of thing that Food Walk and Paul made fun to think about. Our tour wrapped up at a great place with oysters and some lovely mixology drinks. I think if you are open-minded and can roll with it, this may be something different that would expand your horizons. I say, Go!!!

I spent about 10 mins trying all the different things our tour guide asked me to practice. I pickled it up very easily. Everyone did so as well. Anyone can ride segways. I wish we had more segways all over the country. Tour started off in the downtown Fort Worth area. We stopped at many historic destinations along the way. Tour guide was very funny and very knowledgeable. My favorite part was by the riverside. Absolutely gorgeous weather to ride Segways and made our trip even more memorable with lots of great pics. Our tour guide took some incredible pics of us. Highly recommend this experience if you're trying to do something cool and fun.

When I showed up and found the place closed, I called to check, and Tim kindly agreed to give me a tour even though I was the only guest. He made sure I felt comfortable throughout and kept the experience engaging with local history and stories. We cruised around the Trinity Garden, which ended up being one of my favorite parts. On top of that, he shared fantastic restaurant recommendations. It felt more like exploring the city with a friend than a formal tour. Huge thanks to Tim for making it such a memorable experience. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for something unique and enjoyable!

I have now done three Storm Chasing Adventures with Tempest Tours and am now eagerly awaiting my…read moreforth tour this spring in 2012. After using Tempest I would not go anywhere else for a storm chasing holiday. I first used Tempest as they seemed to be the biggest company out there with the most experience in Tornado Tours. Right from the beggining when I first signed up for the tour they were great. They communicate with customers very well and are always willing to help with any questions you have. The storm chasing tour director gets in touch before you even leave home to introduce themselves and gives all guests a chance to do the same. My tour started in a very comfortable hotel in Oklahoma city where we all met in the morning and had our orientation. The orientation is fun and gives you an idea of what to expect out of the tour and is a good chance to meet the other guests. The vans are very comfortable and modern and every guest has a window seat, you can even ride up front sometimes with one of the drivers. The vans have a monitor in too, so you can see the radar and the storms that you are chasing. The staff are great and friendly, they are good at answering everyones storm and weather questions no matter what your level of knowledge. Every morning starts with a briefing so you know what the plan is for the day. Each day ends at comfortable and clean hotels. On every tour I have been on I have had the greatest adventure and seen storms that have blown my mind. Tempest make you feel like a part of the team and like a real life storm chaser. Everything is good! Food, hotels, staff, storms, vans...... I hope you enjoy your next storm chasing holiday. Maybe see you out there. Tom Trott. U.K.

Oh what fun! To be sure, loving a road trip is a must!…read moreI first heard about storm chasing when I was 8 years old from a magazine photo article featuring photos and discussions from storm chasers of the day (one of which runs one of Tempest's education tours!) My love of severe weather has been lifelong. Then in 2008 I decided it was time to act on this love in a more tangible way. The library does have certain limits! I looked up storm chasing on the web and found that there were several companies that offered to facilitate storm chases. I phoned several. Tempest Tours was the only group that got back to me in a reasonable amount of time. And that is purely why I chose them. Each tour that I've been on has had at least two to three meteorologist on hand to chart our course. The Chuck Doswell tour is one of my favorite tours. Chasing with a world famous severe weather expert was fun and educational. I also liked the photography tour run by Brian Morganti. I learned quite a bit about my camera. Lightning shots are challenging, but when you get one... wow!!! Bill Reid, one of the tour directors and meteorologists has the uncanny ability of being able to point to a patch of clear blue sky and say a storm will happen there! And it does! People always ask, "what if I don't see a tornado?" Well, of course that is a possibility. I had one tour where I didn't see a tornado. (I've been on 9 so far) But we have always gotten to a storm on each day. And wind events and hail can be just as interesting. Really! Finally, I have met some of the most interesting and beautiful people on the trips. I have several friend with whom I stay in contact with throughout the year and a few who I see each year on my return to the Plains. It doesn't get better than that! Kudos to you, Martin Lisius for making art and science happen for us all!
