I was looking for a veterinarian last minute for a rabies vaccine and health certificate in order for my puppy to fly and Vet Pet Clinic came through. This is a strictly walk in office, so no appointment is necessary. However, the reach capacity fairly early on in the day so it's best to get there early in the morning and have your contact information and can put you on the list. My wait time was right around five hours total, but I was able to run errands and do things locally... you don't have to sit and wait in your vehicle the whole time, which is a huge bonus! Everyone from the receptionists to the vet tech, Chris, and the veterinarian himself, Dr. Snyman, the whole team was amazing. They were friendly, professional, answered any and all questions with no issues and provided excellent customer service. I would recommend Value Pet Clinic to anyone and will definitely be back.

I would give this clinic zero stars if I could. I have an elderly cat that I have been giving another kitty's medication to. Trixa has been showing signs of hyperthyroid for almost a year. Because I just moved from Everett to Tacoma I had no regular vet and no vets were accepting new patients. I put off taking Trixa to this walk in vet because Trixa is very frail with seizure disorder and renal failure. So I just kept on giving her a low dose of the meds I had left over from another kitty who had passed away. Over time these meds had gotten soft and I was worried they were no longer helping because Trixa was getting very thin. Then Trixa developed an eye infection and I knew I had to take her to this vet. While we were there I explained to the vet about Trixa's suspected hyperthyroidism. I agreed to a test to check her levels. It was more than the amount I have paid for geriatric tests in the past, but I paid it because I knew Trixa needed help. The test came back showing her "in the gray area" which didn't tell me anything. To know what her thyroid levels are at the vet tells me I need a second equally as expensive test sent out to a lab. (At this point I am wondering why the first test wasn't sent out. Now I have paid twice as much as what I have had to pay in the past to have her thyroid levels checked.) But I agree to the test because I want new fresh meds for my kitty--not 14 mo old leftovers from another cat. So the results come back and Trixa does indeed have hyperthyroidism. The vet tells me to double her current dose. So I ask about coming in to get the meds. He asks me how many of the old pills I have left (???????). I tell him 30. Then he tells me, without asking to see the bottle, check the condition if the pills, how old they are, or even if they are the correct meds) to just use them up first and then he'd prescribe new meds. So I do this against my better judgement. Then about a week before the old meds are gone I call requesting meds--new meds for Trixa. Then I am told I cannot get new meds until after I bring this frail little kitty in for yet ANOTHER thyroid test AND another exam. I have tried for weeks to beg this clinic for meds for my kitty. I am on disability and all I can afford are her meds, which she was never given after the vet diagnosed her. The clinic manager stands behind this vet's actions and now my kitty has gone 15 days without any meds. And they do not care. ALL they are about is getting more money. I am totally convinced the vet deliberately put off giving my kitty meds (forcing me to give her substandard care with old expired meds) just so that he could require I pay even more money for a third test and another exam. This is not a place to go if you love your animals. I will never set foot in this place ever again. Oh, and I am demanding a refund for the tests that did nothing to help my kitty, and I am filing a complaint with the BBB and WA State Veterinary board. What was done to my Trixa is nothing short of cruelty and pure deliberate negligence. Below is a picture of the bottle of meds the vet never asked to see, but wanted me to use up on my kitty--meds that were never prescribed for her.

I had just gotten out of ICU and home only to discover my poor tabby was turning yellow & not eating or drinking. I brought him to this clinic. The staff was very kind and the vet told me what I already knew, that he was in total liver failure. He was very kind and respectful even though I talked to him through tears. He said that cats are really good at masking diseases. He gently and respectfully took my boy over rainbow bridge.

Poor bedside manner. Staff doesn't communicate with each other and they don't communicate with the customers. On hold for half an hour. One mistake after another . . . stop taking new patients if you can't handle the ones you have. This was a good place pre-COVID. Three weeks and my rescue puppy still not well. Come and shampoo my carpets, would you?

1/1/21: I came here for years. It was great when it was Vets for Less. Since the change of ownership/name change seems like everything went down hill. Yesterday was the last time I will ever step foot in that clinic! They can't seem to answer/return phone calls. Nurses seem clueless. When I voiced my concerns, the Doctor hung up on me. No compassion for our dying animal whatsoever! UPDATE 1/12/21: Since our cat passed away, NOT once did they send their condolences. Instead they sent me a letter saying they no longer want me as a customer. Hahahaha! Sorry wouldn't go to this clinic again if you paid me. Firgrove Veterinary has been amazing and taking care of our Olive's remains.

My roommate and I walked into Value Pet Clinic with a tiny weak kitty my roommate had found the day prior. They graciously took us in, even after being short staffed and at capacity. Yes, the wait was long but it was all worth it in the end because we walked out with answers and the help we needed! These staff members are DEFINITELY being underpaid for what they have to go through on a daily basis. Just remember before walking into any WALK IN CLINIC, the wait time will sometimes be well over an hour! The team here has an incredible amount of patience and love for animals.

Upon check in the registration asks if we would consent for pain management and possible fluid administration totaling $600-800 prior to seeing the physician. We consented because we knew he was in severe pain and had not had fluids in a day. To my shock and deep frustration we waited 2.5 hours before finding out they had not initiated any treatment and were waiting to receive payment before treatment. I had thought they would make him comfortable while awaiting test results and further consent. I expressed my disappointment in their lack of treatment and how I had expected them to at least make him comfortable while he waited for a thorough exam. Upon voicing my frustration the physician abruptly left our exam room and we never were able to speak to her again except through the front desk worker as an in between. Would a hospital make your loved one wait for payment before starting treatment? I will never bring a pet back to this location and I will be sure to spread the word about their lack of professionalism, inability to triage, inability to be an adult and speak directly, and lack of a standard of care. This facility may look nice and state they have multiple providers on scene, but they lack the ability to follow through when it matters.

Not too sure who I spoke with on the phone Alyssa , Mandy or something along those lines but I called twice! Once to let them know I would be a few minutes behind because of traffic which she told me that's completely fine because they didn't have any rooms available and for us. Fast forward to my second call letting them know we were pulling in and she said she would check us in and send someone to get us . Cool right? Helping keep contamination down.. wrong. She never checked us in . We were waiting out in the car for 30 minutes. I called again and it went straight to voicemail. So I got out of the car and went into the office because clearly they weren't coming out to get us. I asked if they were still with other patients and they said who are you checking in for ? I let them know that it's for my dog and how we were told to wait in the car. Then she proceeded to tell me how because I didn't call back they didn't check us in! A waste of fucking time. Especially since they told us someone would come get us . Outside of the shitty service the place smells god aweful. Almost glad my pup couldn't be seen because it's clear as day that outside of lack of customer service skills they also don't care about practicing cleanliness. It was stuffy and smelt like the belly of a 16year old black lab. Not sterile at all. Hair balls collecting by the front mats . No airflow and if you know anything about vet offices or hospitals it's never warm , always cool where you need to bundle , it's kept below 60. This place was hot and musty. Do not recommend bringing your animals here, if it's a false alarm they're most definitely leaving with something based off of coming in contact with any surface in this place .

0 out of 5 Stars - Extremely Disappointed…read more I would not recommend Spanaway Veterinary Clinic to anyone. Our puppy received her first vaccine through the breeder's veterinarian. After we purchased her, we brought her to this clinic for a full wellness exam. During that visit, we were told she would need her next vaccine in one week. We scheduled that appointment, but the veterinarian insisted on performing another "follow-up" full exam before administering the vaccine. That would have meant three full exam visits (each around $100) within one month. When we explained that we could not afford to pay for repeated full exams just to receive scheduled vaccines, they eventually waived the additional exam and administered the vaccine. Now our puppy is due for her next set of vaccines in three weeks. On 2/24/2026 at 3:40 PM, when I called to schedule the appointment, I spoke with one of the rudest receptionists I have ever encountered. She informed me that we would again be required to pay for another full "follow-up" exam in order to receive vaccines. When I explained that we only needed the scheduled vaccines and referenced the previous situation, she stated they would not waive the exam this time. I politely asked to speak directly with the veterinarian to better understand the policy. The receptionist refused and instead stated she was going to deactivate our account. The fact that a receptionist feels empowered to cancel a client's account for simply asking questions is extremely concerning. Refusing to allow communication with the veterinarian is unprofessional and unacceptable. We have decided to move our puppy's care to Canyon Road Veterinary Hospital, who is willing to review her records and administer scheduled vaccines without forcing unnecessary repeated full exams. The owner of this clinic should seriously evaluate their front desk professionalism and client communication policies. We will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and sharing our experience with other pet owners and breeders so they can make informed decisions. Very disappointed. This is in response to their response: Thank you for your response. However, much of what was stated does not accurately reflect what occurred. First, the individual I spoke with did not identify herself as the hospital manager during the call. Regardless of title, the tone of the conversation was dismissive and unprofessional. Clients should be able to ask reasonable questions about policies and costs without having their account deactivated. It is also inaccurate to state that three different staff members clearly and consistently explained a firm policy requiring two exams. What we were originally told was that our puppy needed her next scheduled vaccine in one week. When we returned, we were then told another full exam was required. Only after we explained our financial concerns was that exam waived. That does not reflect a clearly communicated or consistently enforced policy. We did not refuse medical care for our puppy. We questioned the necessity of repeated full exams within a short time frame after she had already received a breeder exam and a full wellness exam at your clinic. Wanting transparency about medical recommendations and associated costs is not refusing care, it is responsible pet ownership. At no point did we say we intended to administer vaccines ourselves. We stated that if repeated full exams were required every time, we would need to consider transferring care to another clinic. That is a reasonable and honest statement, not grounds for account deactivation. What is most disappointing is that at no point did anyone attempt to work with us to find a reasonable solution. There was no effort to discuss alternatives, payment options, or a clearer explanation of the medical necessity specific to our puppy. Instead of collaborating with us as concerned pet owners, the approach taken was defensive and dismissive. A business that consistently responds to customer concerns by implying the client is wrong rather than listening and problem-solving will eventually struggle. Long-term success comes from professionalism, transparency, and partnership with clients, not from shutting down conversations. The decision to inactivate our account rather than allow a direct conversation with the veterinarian only reinforced our concerns about communication and client care. We stand by our experience. Pet owners deserve respectful communication, clear policies, and a willingness to work together in the best interest of their animals. We have since transferred our puppy's care to another veterinary hospital and wish your clinic the best moving forward.

The THOUSANDS of animals they help for such low fees is amazing. Taking care of fur babies is very expensive and they help make the cost way less expensive than most. There would be a lot less pet owners that can do the right thing for the wellbeing of the animal and the pet population if NW Spay & Neuter wasn't available. It takes a different kind of person to handle all the problems they see. The job has to take a toll on their heart strings. Now that they have joined with Auburn Valley Humane Society it will only get better. Once I got my appointment as with many of you I confirmed all the information and waited for the email. That email arrived (thank you for the email) and we showed up. It was raining and nasty out for at least two of my furry babies but they came out in raincoats with umbrellas and took the information during the Covid times. They took my critters in in a timely fashion and all went well with and after the surgery. I am not sure if they still charge for the cone but just be prepared and have your own before you drop off your baby. I find them to be more expensive elsewhere vs. when they provide one.
