I remember this location as the Valley Power Equipment back in the days when a substantial number of Japanese Americans originally from Japan worked as gardeners since many of them came from agricultural regions tending crops which in many ways are an extension of gardening. So even back in the day, power equipment would ease the burden of heavy work & lessen the time needed to do the work. So Valley Power Equipment was run by Japanese Americans starting 1953. Now the majority of gardeners are Latinos so it makes sense that the shop is now operated by a Latino family with the paterfamilias, Sal, heading up the operation & his son-in-law repairing the power equipment. To show change of ownership, it is Valley Power Repair. I had a heavy duty Honda commercial power mower that would not start. I took it to the same shop that it was purchased which made it kind of a home coming. Sal told me he'd give it a good reconditioning changing the oil, air filter, spark plug, readjusting the carburator, sharpening the rotary cutting blade. He repaired it in 4 working days which is fast compared to over 3 weeks at a repair shop in La Crescenta when supposedly they were overwhelmed by people who discovered that their mowers didn't work for the spring yard clean up. However, VPR in a similar spring time period repaired it five times faster. Btw, you have to bring in & take back the equipment on your own. There is no pick up & delivery which may be an inconvenience if the equipment is too heavy or bulky for one person to handle. Otherwise, VPR is a good family owned shop to do business with. Sal mentioned that they also sell power equipment which may be a good deal since they will definitely back sales with fast, efficient repairs. 4+ Yelp stars. read more

I can't say enough about this place. Dingy, greasy and parts parts parts. Anything you require he has it somewhere. The most valuable asset is the knowledge he has, about everything powered. He was kind enough to stop what he was doing and fixed my old Homelite chainsaw in 15 minutes while explains to me the many varieties of chainsaw chains etc. Fair price and honest service. read more

Salvador was fast and efficient. You could tell he really loves what he does. To often when things breakdown or don't work right we think "replace" not repair. A great little repair shop! I took a chainsaw to another shop for a tune up and they told me it was toast and needed to buy another one from them. I came to Valley Power for a second opinion. Right as I walked in he put down what he was doing, disassembled my chainsaw, inspected the piston and said it was fine and I just needed to change my gas/oil mixture. He handed it back to me and no charge and just bring him my business when I really need something fixed. This is a small, grass roots shop and don't be put off by the piles of used power tools everywhere. He really knows his stuff and will have my business again! read more

I recently received a used (somewhat) working gas powered weed whacker. It was missing some parts and was not working 100% of the time. Sal is super knowledgeable and took the time on the spot to educate me as to what was wrong & what was needed and even did the repairs right then and there. I am so glad I found Valley Power Repairs. They are awesome. I had issues with my Briggs and Stratton Pressure Washer. I watched multiple YouTube videos trying to fix it myself. I made a mess of things and needed a genius to put it back together for me. I brought in the power washer to Valley Power Repairs and handed it over to Sal. Not only is Sal a genius, he is also one of the nicest guys around. His price was low and his work was awesome. He had my washer put back together quickly and it worked like it was brand new. I even tried to tip him because I was so impressed with him and his work. He refused and said he was happy I'm a satisfied customer and I can tip him by referring others to him and bringing him my business in the future. I have since brought an additional item to fix which he did with his usual great helpful attitude and expertise. I recently had my old weed eater fixed at Valley Power Mowers. I couldn't be happier with my results. It took about a week and a half and I was missing a part. The air cleaner cover and filter. They called me and said it is ready and told me how to save money and get the part on ebay or another Parts Warehouse website. With a little digging the parts were found and they will be shipped to my house for 10 bucks. What a nice way to run a business. I met the owner and his daughter. The daughter wrote down the part number and model number for me. read more
