Simon is GRRREEEAAAT! Took a weed eater that I had replaced basically every part and I still couldn't get it to fire up for more than 1 min before it seized. Felt defeated and a bit less of a man, so it was off to a professional. Dropped off my echo in pieces (since I had to free up the piston) and within a few days Simon gave me a call. He didn't want to break my heart over the phone so he told me to come on in so he could do it properly, to my face. Seems my tired weed eater had seen better days and the engine was shot :(. BUT THATS NOT THE END OF THE STORY! Simon had a surprise for me. That surprise was a used motor I guess he had laying around that he popped right in and brought my wacker back to wacking. I took my 1 1/2 yr old Pressure Washer to Simon's for three reasons.....1) convenient to where I live, 2) Manufacturer suggested them since I still had a warranty on parts, 3) All the Yelp reviews, positive ones & negative ones. What caught my eye was that EVERY review, Alex, the owner responded to it! Every one! And on the negative ones, he knew the REAL facts & background of that instance. That impressed me. In any event, I took it in, he (& his mom) greeted me and I told him my problem. He quoted me a price which was fair and I left it. Alex called me later that day and said the issue was more involved than what he originally thought (based on my complaint of the unit), and that he'd repair it for the price he quoted although it would require more attention. I appreciated that he kept his word rather than to just say one thing to get me in the door then raise the price after I left my equipment. When I returned to his shop, my pressure washer was ready and I took it home for the original agreed upon estimated cost. I also bought some supplies from his shop. The following day I fired it right up and it worked beautifully! I plan to take all my household equipment, gas blower, weed eater, etc to Alex @ Simon's in the future. I've also recommended him already to a couple neighbors and I plan on suggesting his shop to my lawn care guy. People often tell others of their bad experiences with vendors, and they should to help protect others, but we should also reward good people who do the right thing! I brought a line trimmer in to be fixed and had to leave a $50 deposit. When it was ready I was given a bill without credit for the $50 deposit. I didn't notice and paid the full bill. When I did notice the error I told the owner (Simon) "Please don't forget!" (that I have $50 coming). Well it was some months before I needed anything from their store and when I tried to use the credit, Simon did NOT remember anything about the transaction. Some time later I produced the receipts but I was then told that I had picked up $50 worth of merchandise (without a receipt) and that they would not give me credit for the $50 deposit. I did NOT get anything for my $50. It is unfortunate and disappointing that this shop chooses to make up a lie that I picked up $50 worth of goods (apparently while sleep-walking) to cover their mistake (or was it?). I work very hard indeed to make $50 and I hate to see it thrown away but fortunately there is another shop nearby and another fine shop in Burbank that will get all of my business from now on. Simon's Power Equipment shop is the best shop that I know of. I took my Generac Generator with problems and they did such a good job now my Generator is working like new thanks to them !!! I just today had to bring in my Makita 9227C angle grinder. It just stopped. I was in the middle of work and it stopped. Cannot believe i am here again, but i wouldnt trust anyone else. For the second time, I am only using Simons. Not only would I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE HIGHLY, But it is the only service agency besides Lancaster that the headquarters of both Generac and Makita send me to. Interesting rebuttal by Simons Power equipment and written in perfect English. I don't know if this is the gentleman I dealt with and his English skills have increased dramatically over the intervening years or it's somebody else speaking on his behalf. Every time I came into the shop, it was extremely difficult to communicate. I WISH the person I dealt with was this well spoken but it was really hard to understand him or to know if he understood what I was saying. Yes, every chainsaw can be fixed. But let's be clear. A tuneup isn't prohibitively expensive. Who would decide to discard a chainsaw because it needed a new spark plug or fuel filter? Rings? Sure. Bearings? Fine, throw it away. But not for a tuneup. And whether I brought it in every six months or every 10 months isn't really important if it was rarely used. It all depends on the amount of use between tuneups. The fact if the matter is that it worked for only a few hours after the last tuneup and I was told it wasn't worth repairing. However you want to interpret that. read more

Was having problems with my Troy Bilt lawnmower. It was difficult to start and would die after about a min or two. Alex helped me out and could tell right away I didn't use the mower that much so he could tell it was probably a carburetor issue using old gas. He quoted me a reasonable rate and said he would call me when it was ready. Less than 24 hours later he called me and said it was ready to go. When I came to pick it up he gave me advice on how to avoid this problem in the future. Empty the gas if it's not used within a few weeks or use canned gas designed for 4 cycle engines. I tried out the mower when I got home and it's running better than it ever has. Glad I found this place and will come here again if I run into any lawnmower issues. read more

THIS PLACE IS THE BEST! Fast, EXTREMELY knowledgeable, helpful, excellent shop, ALEX IS THE MAN! Took a 9 year old 6500W RIGID gas generator in for no-start from 9 year old gas, zero maintenance. ALEX gave it a tune up, provided important info on how long the gas will last, even has high quality gas in stock (that lasts for years!). Got the generator back home, of course it fired right up easily! THANK YOU ALEX! Previously went to a much smaller shop about 1 mile away, very messy, irregular hours. When they were closed during normal biz hours I didn't have time to screw around and wait so I searched online and found Simon's Power Equipment close-by. Called, they answered right away, polite, professional. So I head over to Simon's and meet ALEX. Dropped off the generator, and they had it done in like 2 days. It's a rather large and heavy generator, Alex whistled one of his staff over so the 3 of us could easily unload it from the lifted pick up. Same deal, fast with zero delay when it was time to load it back up when it was done! If you can imagine what the ideal lawnmower repair and power equipment shop would be like, Simon's is THAT place. I was lucky to have found this family owned business The other day. I had a gardening equipment issue and had been to every hardware store,Lowes and Home Depot within a 20 mile radius. My father had been shopping at this store for years and encouraged me to stop. The main salesman took great care to explain all of issues and eventually I purchased a new piece of equipment that I could not be happier about. Simon's is Great! I have a gas generator that we lost the owner's manual for, hadn't stored correctly (left old gas in) and had been left uncovered outside (and of course hadn't used) for at least 8 years. I took it to Simon's last Thursday to get it cleaned up and running as the power company informed us of a temporary outage next Friday. I was worried that we might not be able to get it back with only one week between but two business days later I got the call, it was ready to go. I went by to pick it up and they gave me the run down of all the operational elements (next best thing to an owner's manual) and started it right up. I've started it a couple more times since I got it home, it starts right up on the first pull every time. Great service and the price was reasonable too. read more

I purchased a Westinghouse 4.5 KwH generator. This is the same as the Onan 4.5 KwH generator. It is very quiet and designed for home or RV use. Very good generator. That said, mine stopped at 32 hours. No ones fault, just factory defect. Looked around and found Alex at Simon's Power Equipment. I live in the Antelope Valley and no one looked good. I'm a 50 year old Mom and I like working in my yard. I have a small chainsaw for trimming Oleander and small tree branches. Recently, my chain popped off. I don't use it enough to buy a new one and I figured that getting it repaired would be fairly straight forward. I brought it to one of the big box stores and they "Fixed" it for me. I got it home and it didn't work. I found Simon on Yelp and he fixed it while I waited. He was great. He told me I needed to put oil in my chainsaw every 15 minutes, or so, which I didn't know and have never done. He gave me pointers on how to use it so the chain won't pop off again. I was in there this late Wednesday morning. I was referred to this location by the 800# Greenworks Company because I had a warranty and the cordless saws tension wouldn't move at all in any direction...the young man explained everything and listened to the fact that I told him that on Amazon.com there were similar complaints on this saw. He indicated it's because "we didn't know how to work all the knobs properly". He gave me a quick lesson. I liked his quick approach and the fact he did his work quickly and told me what I did wrong to make it get 'stuck'. I was on my way out with a working chain saw. It took less than 6 minutes and he didn't charge the company nor myself. I know as I asked him if I needed to sign something and he waved it off. What a nice honest person. I hate dealing with people especially in Los Angeles where people can be dishonest and a "tit for a tat" now a days and will charge for everything or tell you something else and be dishonest so they can a check. These people are honest and hard working. Very kind. I see elders working hard in the background of the shop. Great service!!**** I brought a Craftsman air compressor there to be repaired under factory warranty on a Thursday evening at 4:55PM. Simon told me it would probably be 2-3 weeks for repairs since he had to order the replacement parts. But he assured me he would jump right on it since I told him it was vital I had it back ASAP. To my surprise, that very next Friday morning he called me at 8:15AM to tell me my compressor was already finished and ready to be picked up! Are you kidding? 15 hours later it was done! Turns out he had the replacement motor sitting on the shelf and did the repairs early that morning. Nobody does service like this anymore. They responded so well, that I took the gen to them same day. They put in a super extra effort and got my unit back working same day in very short order. Took a pressure washer since the carb was not closing dumping fuel. It was "fixed" I added fuel there and it started up but then there was another leak from the "lines" (which was not there before) then I had to leave it there again. Paid like $160 to get it repaired should have just bought $350 pressure washer with warranty. If you need it fixed asap I guess you can go here. By all means a 3 or 4 star does not mean don't go here nor I am saying I would not go here. I would get an full estimate first before deciding to spend the money or buy a new one. read more

I love this family based business. Simon is my go to man for fixing my equipment that is constantly breaking. As a tree service contractor, I cycled through a number of small engine repair shops for a few years and finally settled in Simons because of his knowledge, his vast array of parts (It seems that he rarely needs to order parts for my equipment. He always has them in stock!), and his excellent prices on new equipment (I have bought a few saws and blowers and plan on buying more.) His $500 deal on the Stihl MS200t, for instance, is excellent as I see these saws going for over 100 dollars more elsewhere. I will say that I have had another shop sell me the wrong parts which ultimately damaged one of my saws which ended up costing me a lot more. Not so with Simon. He's an honest guy and always will do what is best. For repair, you might spend a little bit more than some other shops, but the value of simons expertise is well worth it. Yesterday, I went to see Alex at Simons Power Equipment, because they are the closes repair/parts distributor for Neuton battery operated lawn mowers in Los Angeles. Before going to them, which is a 30 minute drive or more in traffic from my home to North Hollywood, I called to see what their price was for a Neuton battery replacement. They said it was $135.00. I thought great since it cost around the same as ordering it from Neuton Mowers online. I drove 30 minutes with lawn mower in tow. Once there everything was going well, they were friendly and knowledgeable. I asked them to check to make sure I only needed a battery since my machine wasn't running properly. Sure enough it only needed a battery. Great! So, I asked them to sharpen the blade. They attempted to do so, and told me that the blade bolt was damaged and needed to be worked on to remove it. Now I'm not sure how the blade bolt can be run down when all I do is mow grass. Anyway, I decided I wouldn't pay the service fee of $75.00 an hour to fix it, however they did say if I remove it myself I would need a hammer and chisel. With that said, I settled for just the battery. My total came to a surprising $166. Say What? They said since they have to pay Neuton Mowers $20 to ship them the battery , as well as pay shipping cost for other parts to sell to Neuton customers, as a distributor, I had to pay that cost along with taxes. Now, I'm shocked, and very disappointed, since I travelled so far based on their phone quote of $135, only to leave without a battery. I phoned Neuton and expressed my sentiments regarding my experience with Simon Power Equipment. I also told them how they instructed me to remove the blade bolt. Neuton Mowers said they've never ever heard of or had any problems with their blade bolts, and suggested I don't use a hammer and chisel to remove the bolt, which would result in damaging the mower. So, I ordered a new battery, new blade and a bolt screw with shipping cost for a grand total of $164.00. Now what does that say about Simon Power Equipment and their outlandish price of $166 for just a battery, as well as their incorrect bolt removal instructions? Ain't Nobody Got Time For That! I followed the advice by Neuton Mowers and decided to take it to Martinez lawn mower repair in my neighborhood. Mr. Martinez removed the bolt without a problem, and sharpened my blade in less than 10 minutes. So now, I can cancel my order for the new blade and blade bolt. I say to anyone using their services especially for a Neuton battery operated mower, you may want to beware if you are not under warranty. It could cost you more than is necessary. Shame on you, Simon Power Equipment. read more

Terrible customer service provided by the owner. We rented a stump grinder and notified them that it had stopped working twenty minutes into use and that we had to rent another one at homedepot to finish the job. The owner stated that there was nothing he could do about it. Once we made it back to return the machine we asked the owner if he could credit us for a different day. He said he couldn't and asked to see the receipt from Home Depot which he followed by a $40 dollar refund. We would not recommend this place given the fact that they were not willing to credit (for a different day) us for their machine which did not work or provide us with a full refund. He said he would send it in under warranty and that it may be two weeks for a replacement to arrive at my home. Ten days later a new replacement arrived just as promised. Even as busy as Alex was the day I stopped in, I was impressed with the attention given to us and the very satisfying solution. I've been looking for a good professional quality 50cc chainsaw for a few weeks now. Being that I live in the Los Angeles area, its hard to find some good stores that stock a good selection of this kind of power equipment. I went to a few stores until I found this one through Husky's dealer network. I saw the other yelp reviews and picture. I figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out since it was on my way home. Once I got there, I realized I came to the right store Their selection of power equipment is extensive. They had every new chainsaw model I was looking to purchase so I got to ask about prices. I stumbled upon a Husqvarna 346xp chainsaw I've been looking at. They hooked it up and quoted me a price lower than every online dealer I've been looking at. I was sold. I came home with a big smile and an awesome chainsaw today. If you're looking for any kind of outdoor power equipment be it gardening, chainsaws, or generators, I would saw it would be worth your while to take a look.
