You would be better off going to Quitman's golf course. We played it the day before and it was in great shape compared to Country Oaks. I hope they read this review and invest in some course repair. I would like to see the old country oaks that I remember.

The greens and bunkers are in great shape, the fairways are good but could use a little improvement in places, which to their credit, it appears they are working on. Had a great round, pace was good, slower groups were very courteous and allowed me to play through though I never asked to do so. Staff is pleasant and seems to be on top of things. You are greeted in the parking lot if you'd like to use a cart. The carts are equipped with a GPS, Cooler w/ 2 waters, ball & club cleaner, 2 towels, and 8 Tees. If you'd like a ball marker or a divot tool, you can pick one up in the pro shop when you check in. Also, don't forget to take a complementary cookie. They're always delicious. The driving range comes with your fee, it's always equipped with Callaway Practice Balls. The practice greens play somewhat similar to the actual course. The country club had a nice pro shop and restaurant. The carts were nice, they had a screen for the distance to the hole, speakers with Bluetooth for music, and other information. The carts also had usb charging ports for your phones. Overall the course was in great condition and payed 25 dollars per person for 18 holes with a cart. Would defiantly go back.

The location is rather off the main area, obviously since it has a very nicely maintained golf course. The dining hall is big. I can imagine numerous wedding receptions have been held here. We arrived toward to the end of the Thanksgiving lunch hours. I thought most of the delicious looking Thanksgiving delicacies were picked over but they still had enough for more than our group of six. In this southern traditional setting enviroment, I thought my experience, being an Asian alone, would be some what awkward. But to my surprise, I was welcomed by a number of Asian staff members, mostly from the Philippines. Just them being there, comforted my situation. But I didn't know how many knew I was an Asian, except my Filipina waitstaff: Before I ask anyone of their origin of where they are from, I introduce my origin first. Our waiter was a very pleasant and efficient server and when things had gotten slower, she shared how she liked to work in the club and this country. She said, "People are nice here." Go back to the lunch buffet: What I enjoyed the most from the buffet was the ham. It was a chunk of meat. I asked for a fresh slice, the server was willing to cut a new slice, with his smile on his face. He sliced a huge one. Other two meats were good but I liked this lightly sweet, salty. and juicy ham. Make your own salad was became my second favorite of this lunch. I got green salad as the base and julienned carrot. My toppings were fresh crab, and potato salad. I noticed the stand with the list of coming up events: on the top of the list was the weekly even on Saturday - Men's Walk-in Clinic and for ladies on Monday. I write this review reluctantly. (Only because I don't really want other people to discover this…read morehidden gem.) I've played here for several years now. I think I first played the course approximately 9-10 years ago. I've basically been in love ever since. I went from driving over to play while on vacation to simply staying at the condos on-site. It's that good. The condos are very nice, too, by the way. The layout is extremely interesting/challenging. If you like to grip and rip driver on every tee, find another course. In fact, I only hit driver off of approximately 6-7 tees. It's very much a shotmaker's course, and not just on the approach. Besides the superb layout, the course is always in tip-top shape. The greens are neither especially fast or slow, but they're always in good condition and roll true. If you have a spouse who doesn't play but is game for riding along on occasion, this is a good course for that. It's half golf and half nature ride. It's an Audubon-certified course, but there's a lot of other wildlife/nature to see, too. Honestly, I think I could just ride around here without playing and be entertained. In all seriousness . . . the water hazard that borders 14/17/18 . . . watch out for alligators. I've nearly stepped on some while looking for balls. The only negatives: 1. The adjoining Crooked River Grille (overall a net plus, but somewhat of an underachiever; see my separate yelp review for it) 2. If you stay and play, guests can't - EVER - take carts over to the condos (which are located ON the course, between holes 14/17/18). While it seems minor, this is kind of a big deal to my family and me. In the old days, I would basically get a cart when we got here, put my clubs on it, and just change out as needed based on battery life. That way, my wife could come and go as she wished (i.e., go shopping, to the beach, etc.). Now we have to plan all comings/goings/tee times very carefully.
