Sounded like a good plan to me. When I went to pick up my ring, the sizing was perfect (and at a reasonable cost), and the ring looked terrific. However, the manner the channels were reinforced changed the essential look and shape and feel of the ring. What once was a smooth cusp across the surface had become this stair-stepped ribbon of ridges. It no longer looked like my ring, nor did it match my wife's ring. I expressed my disappointment, noting that I had not been informed of the intended change. The jeweler, Jim, was on-site and attempted to smooth the ridges a bit. The problem was lessened, but not resolved. So we talked more about my expectations and how it might be accomplished. Jim agreed to give it another go. When I returned later in the day, Jim had corrected the problem, built up the channels, and returned the ring to its original aesthetic. I am very happy with the results. What's more, in dealing with the problem, the staff at Warrenton Jewelers were professional, polite, and eager to make things right. All in all, a good experience, and I'd recommend their services to others. One last comment: I did a little browsing while they looked over my ring. This place is far more than a jewelers. I saw a station for tux rentals, several items of clothing, some eclectic art, small gifts, etc. Pretty cool shop!

I probably never would have found INés if it weren't for the sign pointing down an alley telling us to "follow the yellow brick road," so, of course, we did! At the end was this quaint, eclectic little shop filled with all kinds of interesting finds. They also had real gold and silver jewelry, including 14k gold pieces. I found a few amethyst rings I liked, including one where the stone hadn't even been set yet. I loved the ring itself, and INés, who I believe is the owner, took it upon herself to set the stone for me right then and there! She clearly knows her way around jewelry and has a little workshop area with different stones and settings. Watching her put my ring together right in front of me made it feel even more special, and I really appreciated the personal touch. Before I left, she even wrote her number on a card for me in case I ever needed to reach out or found myself back in town, which was such a thoughtful gesture. They also take cards and tap-to-pay, which was convenient. I was only in Culpeper for the day, but this was such a pleasant surprise. After taking the band of my watch apart and after working on it for 20 minutes, he became flustered, handed it back to me in pieces and asked me to work on it myself. After, I insisted that he return the watch to me in the condition he received it, his response was "I will have to charge you for that?". WHAT!!! Are you serious?, I asked. I'm gonna make a long story short. The police department was called by me and when the officer showed up the officer quickly determined that this jewelry repair man was under the influence of alcohol. The repairman admitted to the officer that he had a couple of glasses of wine. The officer stated, "you had more than a couple of glasses of wine, I've been doing this for over 30 years". My expensive luxury watch is now in pieces and will be taken to a reputable jeweler. Do not patronize this hack shop. This guy is a jewelry repair quack.
