I'm not a golfer... but I got the invite while traveling for work... so I showed up and embarrassed myself just a little but I didn't care because we had a great time... we ate and had a few drinks and relaxed... I would do this again but only if it's another invite. But if you really love to golf, and there were sooo many people waiting for a spot... this is a must! read more

Went to check out the driving range and the bar area, knowing we are in the middle of summer I expect it to be hot but no fans, no misters, nothing to circulate the air? If it wasn't for the bartenders I would have turned around immediately and left! read more

Valley Oaks is a busy place. The only public course in Visalia. Of course it's going to be busy on weekends. The course is in good shape. It's a public course with lots and lots of play. The staff is dealing with all kinds of prima donna's and newbies to the game. They do need a starter to truly regulate starting time. The negativity is grossly overstated. read more

The absolute worst experience at Valley Oak Golf Course in Visalia. I don't usually write reviews, but this place has earned it. The course management is terrible, and the so-called "driving range" is even worse. They regularly have people lined up waiting for bays, yet somehow there is still no basic sign-up system. You literally walk right past the bar and counter to get in -- it would be so easy to manage -- but instead it's chaos. We've personally witnessed arguments and even physical fights because people wait forever, only to have someone jump the line. High schoolers camp out in bays all evening by rotating friends in and out, and staff does nothing about it. Zero structure. Zero accountability. The hitting mats in the bays are also poorly maintained and honestly gross. For a place that charges what it does and new, basic upkeep should not be this hard. Out on the course, expect long delays. It's very common to sit behind 2-4 groups before you can even tee off. A normal 4-hour round easily turns into double that. It kills the entire experience. Safety is another concern. There is no clear safety line at the range, and we have seen people get hit with clubs. That should never happen at a properly managed facility. Overall, this is mismanagement at its finest. The place feels neglected, disorganized, and unconcerned about customer experience or safety. read more

Truly disappointing how unorganized and pathetic this place is ran expect very long waits zero organization terriblely taken care of was told they were gonna improve the range have gone 4 times only got a booth once it's nice equupment but I refuse to give my money to a business that doesn't care I'll go to one of these simulations before I come back here go anywhere else should be zero stars read more

Valley Oaks has great potential but they do not manage it well at all. Rarely ever see any maintenance workers. The bunkers haven't been raked in weeks and they haven't done any on course tree management in years. Then they top it of with 9-10 dollar beers. At least the greens are running well but don't make the mistake of trying to play mid morning on the weekend. Had a six hour round just recently. Thanks, Monte McKean read more

Golf here at least once a month. Great facilities, well-kept course, and friendly pro-shop

6-7 hours to play 18! Never going back. They are booking to many people. Grill sucked! Cheese burgers were terrible.

Played the the Oaks and Lakes on 02/21/26, and both courses were in in terrible condition. Fairways were mostly mud with very little dorment grass, and it was "Cart Path Only". Went to hit balls at their new covered driving range, and the balls that came out of one of the ball machines were covered with wet residual mud. I have never seen range balls come out of a ball machine that were that dirty. Wasn't wort the price paid, and I won't be comming back anytime soon. read more

Visalia Valley Oaks Golf Course has a new amazing driving range. Now you can see the exact distance your ball goes, where it lands in correlation to the flag being aimed at on the driving range, and the ball mats are designed for both iroms and drivers. It now has a great sitting area to lounge after being at the driving range or playing a round of golf. If you haven't experienced the new driving range you are missing out. Oh, and the golf instructor Tom Ringer, who is an excellent golf instructor for all level of golfers is also still available at the driving range. Yippee! read more

This is the second time I have come here and the ball machines are broken. Everyone wanders around with no way to get balls. No communication to let you know they are down. Seeing this is a common event here you might want to print some signs and let us know. read more

Worst course in the valley by far. Don't expect much from this unorganized pathetic excuse for a golf course. With 3 minutes between each group rounds take hours more than they should. read more

Course is not worth it... tee times are stacked like crazy you'd be waiting 30 mins past ur tee time to tee off. Staff is a joke more of a take it or leave it attitude, gentlemen at the pro shop can't even look up and have a conversation with you pretty sad honestly. Greens are not taken care of ball marks ever where, Good luck on that new driving range POS soaked mats with now $20 MUDDY RANGE BALLS it's like they don't even send them in a washer at all... DONT BOTHER COMING HERE try river island or ridge creek for a better experience read more

Disorganized, 5 other carts waiting on to tee off and 2 other groups said they had the same tee times as us. Older marshall was yelling at everyone like they were kids and making no sense. Never again! read more

Trash course, staff is rude. Over booked and they don't care. The ranger is a senile old man who doesn't do his job. I won't be going again.

This is the worst managed golf course in the valley. Showed up for a 1007 tee time and there were 10 carts on the first tee still waiting. Talking with others in line they had 950, 954, 1000, 1004, 1007 1010 1014 tee times. We didn't tee off until 1045. There were 3 groups waiting on every tee. Absolutely ridiculous. Not only that but they allowed fivesome and sixsomes. Do better Valley Oaks. Would not waste my money to come back. Update: we finished in 6 hours and 12 min. The marshal apologized to us multiple times and said they were trying. But there is no excuse for overbooking and such packed tee times. All about the dollar and it showed. read more

dont play here the greens arent taken care of divots everywhere and the old guy working at the club house is rude.

Tee times are horrible, and customer service is horrendous. We requested military discount, which they informed us is only for active duty now.....rates are ridiculous, but they have you by the n - - ts because they are the only public course in Visalia....basically a take it or leave it attitude. Our tee time was 10:00 am on a Tuesday morning....hardly anyone there to push or hold us up, lucky this time because usually there are 5 or 6 carts lined up and they drag out start time. When we finally got started, only took hour and a half. We finished the front 9 and asked if on the turn they would allow us to play the Lakes course....and for the 5th time playing here, they did not allow us to play it. Waited to see if there was anyone on the turn for the Lakes and no one came. Still didn't allow us to play there. We are over this place and will not play here again. There are plenty of highly recommended places in the Valley to play instead. read more

Highly recommend private lesson. Good overall experience. Busy, but most people polite. read more

Tee time management. There is always multiple groups waiting on the 1st tee. I believe the tee times are only like 3 minutes apart.

The Starter has to deal with keeping everyone safe and had to put single between an Threesome and a Foursome. Slow play but it's totally understood with the COVID issues....Valley Oaks is always great place to tee it up!!!! read more

The course itself is amazing, tough, and a good challenge for casual golfers. The only thing that is making me put this rating lower is the pace of play. 2 weekends in a row, its taken me 2 1/2 hours to get threw 9 holes! There were 2 very slow, 4 man groups in front of us. The course marshal was no where to be found. Once we finally got threw the first 9 holes, the same slow groups were also playing the same next back 9 holes as us. The back 9 holes also came out to 2 1/2 hours. When we started the back 9 and came back to the club house there were two course marshals just driving around the club house. We never saw a single course marshal while playing at valley oaks golf course. read more

My wife, daughter and I are taking golf lessons with Jim Johnson. He is very knowledgeable and professional! We highly recommend using Jim!

This course has some great challenges and keeps you on your toes the whole way through. There are three sets on 9 hole courses (Valley, Lake, Oaks) and played Lake and Valley today. I give it three stars because the condition of the course, but on a curve because it is winter. The staff was rude and uppity which didn't help at the start of the morning. I'll come back in the spring when the course and hopefully the crews attitude is better. read more

To the Valley Oaks General Manager: aside from the course being in great shape- fairways were great, bunkers had good sand and greens are rolling smooth, it was the staff that made my day...that turned into night because I lost my cell phone on one of the holes right at dusk. Gabriel went out of his way to help me find my phone, making about 3 trips on the course just to help me find my phone. Also, Calvin and Blake came to the rescue as well. These 3 exemplary gentleman went WAY out of their way to help me and even refused my reward for a dinner for finding my phone. They spent almost an hour in complete darkness just to help a guy who just wanted to play golf. In riding in the cart with Gabriel, I found out that he's a new father and is in the fire fighting program. This is a guy who you definitely want help from as a first responder. These guys really showed kindness and empathy for my mistake and have inspired me to pay the kindness forward. On that note, to the general manager of Valley Oaks, these guys need recognition for making sure their patrons are well taken care of. Thank you again Calvin, Blake and Gabriel. All of your futures look bright. read more

This review is based solely as a bride, and not as a regular/experienced golfer. I had my wedding here on November 7, 2015, and Joe is THE MAN to thank! He gave us the perfect ceremony site, the clubhouse venue space for the reception, the delicious catered food, access to the clubhouse bar (with bartender), the resources to rent equipment (through Details, in Tulare), and the extra staff to run the show. Since the time that we chose this place as our venue, he has been readily available to answer any questions I had, and to meet up in person to work out any other details. He even closed off part of the golf course to ensure our ceremony site was undisturbed. He was incredibly helpful and a pleasure to work with, he truly seemed to care about my wedding and that meant a lot! As I said earlier, food is AMAZING. We did a tasting session a few months prior to the wedding, and we did not even need to change the entree options. The tri tip was my favorite, and the chicken was my husband's favorite, so we did a half and half option for the guests. Sides of green beans and bacon, mashed potatoes, salad, rolls, and he offered vegetarian options as well. I had an ice cream sundae bar, and he also helped store the extra ice cream in his freezer. I also need to give a special shout out to Raul (hope I spelled your name right!). He was also integral to my wedding's success, with doing all the technical work (getting a PA system to reach ~500ft away from the clubhouse), as well as chauffeuring myself and my elderly relatives out into the course. Everyone here made my wedding a truly special day. I can't say enough nice things, but to wholeheartedly recommend this place to any other people looking for potential venues within a practical wedding budget. My guest total was about 60 people, and I bet at least 100 could have fit in the space we had. So thank you again, Valley Oaks, and to Joe! I don't know any better way we could have spent our special day! read more

Course not in good shape. For a muni course and the amount of rounds, the revenue generated should be spent on grounds keeping.

I have played golf all over America and Mexico, having played for about 45 years now. This course is a little too expensive for what you get. $59 is a little high for this area but it would be acceptable if the course was well managed. It is not well managed on several levels. The fairways and sand are in pretty solid shape but the greens are the worst around of all the local courses. No one fixes divots on the green apparently and no one running the course appears to care (have played three times recently and not once were the greens well groomed). Compared to the Tulare greens, there is no comparison because in Tulare, you can tell that the management takes great care with their greens. In Tulare, you can putt and expect that your putt will remain true to your aim and not get bumped off line, not so and Valley Oaks. Lastly, the pace of play is not managed at all. We made a tee time for 12:30pm on 11/11 a few days in advance. We couldn't tee off because there weren't any carts available to us and the woman behind the counter just told us to wait (wasn't very pleasant and didn't seem to appreciate that we were patrons of the business). I played with two friends from out of town that day who play weekly in Santa Barbara. Their comments regarding the greens and the management were less than favorable. When we finally teed about 25 minutes late, the adventure began. We arrived at Hole 2 and counted SEVEN groups on the hole or waiting to play including us. Ridiculous! I called the pro shop and let them know immediately. The foursome in front of us literally told me that I was wasting my time and that the management wouldn't do anything about it (implying they had tried that tactic before). The woman on the phone said that they were really busy today and I had to confirm with her that this wasn't a normal thing on other courses. SEVEN GROUPS on one hole is outrageous and it shows that the course is only interested in sending off as many people as are willing to pay. She did send out a guy in a cart to look and he got out and looked at the situation. I addressed him and told him that no one is monitoring the pace of play and that is the problem. He said that they had about 350 people on the course and that basically it is what it is. Nothing was done (as predicted by the other patron). As we made the turn about three hours later, we asked about getting a raincheck for the last nine holes as it was about 3:45ish and there was no increase in the pace and there was no way we could finish now before dark (the sun set at 4:52pm). We also asked to switch to a different 9 holes in an attempt to be able to play faster. No and no. So, the message to me was "you aren't important, we have your $59 already, it's everyone else's fault not ours." We literally played the last three holes in the dark (not kidding). We had fun crouching to the ground so we could try and find where the ball went against the horizon, but we weren't honored as patrons. $350 x $59 = $20,000+ on a single busy day ... having a course Marshall seems doable. Go to River Island or Tulare. Those businesses understand how to value people. read more

Best golf for the money anywhere in California! I paid $155 today, to play unrestricted, for the month of November, and there are three nines! Greens were very good today and we played in just over three hours. read more

A very nicely laid out 27-hole golf course open to the public. Playable and yet offers enough of a challenge even for the hard-core golfer. Good driving range; Closed Tuesday afternoons at 4PM. You can call seven days in advance to reserve a tee time. Helpful hint: Avoid weekend play; Since this is the only public regulation course in Visalia, a 5 and 1/2 round is not uncommon Saturday and Sunday. read more

Looked up Valley Oaks web site, saw $30 green fee and cart special before 9:00. Went there (8:00 am), the unfriendly woman at the counter said that special doesn't apply. Putted on practice green, looked like they covered it in rock salt. The cart caretaker said these are the best greens in the valley, not like the practice green. The greens were worse. This course needs better maintenance. read more

Being from the Bay Area I love this course, three nine hole courses! Super Cheap, I haven't waited for a tee time, I don't golf on the weekends because I hate slow golf. As far as the course's go, they are all challenging I like the Oaks couse the best, a lot less people, everyone wants to play the lakes course which is fine with me. I highly recommend this place. read more

I enjoy this golf course but was very disappointed in the service at the restaurant. I'm unsure why the only thing the employees are willing to bring you is beer??? They got annoyed I asked them to bring food outside and not even a napkin offered. If your going to serve food to the public, then serve the public. Otherwise don't put a tip jar out if you don't want to earn them. read more

The golf course and every one here is very nice. However the food is mediocre. There is only one healthy dish on the menu and it's the Chicken Chop Salad. So if your counting calories or counting carbs this place doesn't have many options. read more

This golf course was very well maintained, the greens are consistent and very nice. The golf course offers specials if you book on line. Had a great Sunday playing golf with co-workers and new friends. The coarse was in real good shape and lunch was great as well.

I had a bad experience at Valley Oaks golf Course yesterday. After I finished my putting practice, and as I was walking to my car, I was approached in the opposite direction by a gentleman in a cart. He looked at me and asked if I had practice balls in my bag. I sensed a strong feeling of anger by the mere question, and replied, "no" and asked the gentleman if he wanted to borrow any of my golf balls. He replied but that the Golf Course had lost 1,000 practice balls. He described himself as a member of the Board at Valley Oaks and identified himself as "Woody". I later thought to myself, where in the world does this guy get off implying that I was stealing practice balls from Valley Oaks? This incident left a very bad taste in my mouth and I hope that the Board Chairperson reminds its board members about common courtesy, and common sense. Board Officers should also remind directors that the majority of the users aside from paying green fees also pay property taxes that help maintain the golf course. Let's chill a bit and quit accusing other golfers of petty thievery. J.M.Garcia read more
