This was our original draw to T&E but it is the quality meet and friendly service that keeps us coming back. I really like that I know who my money is supporting vs. buying meat at a supermarket. Count me as a regular.

Best beef I've ever had in my life! This family has been raising cattle for over 50 years now at…read moretheir 150-acre farm. They are conveniently located in a beautiful property just a mile from Harrisonburg proper but once you see the farm you wouldn't have thought it is just outside the city. They have been serving high quality bulk shares of beef to their local community for decades and just started to further expand their services over the past year. They repurposed their big red barn to become like a farmstand which opens 2 days a week (and by request) where everyone can buy individually packaged, USDA inspected beef cuts, and they started selling pork and lamb products as well. We've gotten different steak cuts, ground beef and pork, burger patties, and sausages here. We loved them! On most Saturdays, J&Js BBQ food truck comes by the red barn. GlenDor customers can buy freshly grilled GlenDor burgers, or hotdogs, as well as chicken BBQ and pulled pork as they come to fill their coolers with GlenDor meat products. GlenDor Farms also recently started shipping within most of the East Coast! Their packages are carefully prepared and shipped. My boyfriend received his package of about 15 lbs of ribeye, sirloin, ground beef and others within a few days and still quite frozen! (we live in North Carolina) He cooked 'em and I got to try the tender, juicy, melt-in-your mouth goodness of the steaks! Lastly, as I mentioned, their farm is in a beautiful property in Harrisonburg--their farmhouse is situated on top of a hill with gorgeous views of the Shenandoah Valley. If you ever want to experience it or if you are looking for great accommodation when visiting Harrisonburg--you can now stay at their Hilltop Apartment on AirBnB! This is the basement floor apartment of their farmhouse--fully renovated, fully equipped kitchen, and own private entry. On top of the gorgeous view that will greet you, they also give you complimentary fresh eggs and sausage from their farm! Bryce Blosser is really doing a phenomenal job in managing and expanding GlenDor farms as the fourth generation. Overall, I highly recommend supporting this very nice family's farm-to-table business!

I love a good farmer's market. Honestly, I love any farmer's market because how can there be a bad…read moreone? You got produce-coffee-homemade crafts? I'm all in. And this first visit happened to coincide with my first time in Harrisonburg. The morning was cool, but not yet cold and the sun was unbridled by clouds. I could hear the sounds of people and caught the aroma of baked bread before I saw the rows of tables and tents. As fate would so favor me yet again, my first stop was a dog-centric vendor. Homemade treats, bandanas, and outfits. But that day I left with a JMU poop bag holder (have to represent for the family). Vendors ranged from bread to pastries to canned goods to locally grown apples (you know I got a couple of bags of those). At every table I found a friendly face at the helm. They were having a great time being there and so was I. Before it was all said and done I had so much stuff it required me returning to the hotel room and offloading before continuing the morning. I will also mention there was live music and some face painting occurring that day. Just a fun, relaxing, and perfect way to begin your Saturday. *During certain times of the year they have a Tuesday evening market in addition to the Saturday market.

The few things I got including beverages and high protein noodles, were not as expensive as I might have expected. I didn't get a fresh lunch but the options for doing so seemed good. The location is in what passes for downtown Harrisonburg, and it has its own parking but is also walkable from other sites that are likely to attract visitors. And it seems a walk worth making.
