My wife and I have different tastes and we both want what we want! That being said Michelle & Steve Kennedy at Superior did a fantastic job guiding us to something we would both be happy with and would look fantastic. Michelle showed us many different colors & grains of wood until we found the one we liked. They gave us finished samples in the color we wanted so we could take them home to match with the tile, backsplash & appliances. After we made our decision Superior worked with us on scheduling. We had many delays totally unrelated to the cabinets and Superior worked with us through all of them. They were paragons of patience! The workmanship was excellent. The cabinets were zero formaldehyde plywood and the stains were low VOC. There was absolutely no smell to them when we got them. Steve runs the shop and makes sure things come out like he was going to put them in his own home. We ended up needing a few extra pieces of trim molding (no fault of Superiors, just some out of square walls) and they got them to us in short order and the color matched perfectly to the rest of the cabinets. We also had a couple of minor adjustments needed and they came out promptly at my convenience and took care of everything. This is the second time we used Superior. They did an equally wonderful job on our shore house. In both instances we received excellent value for the money and we would absolutely use them again. I would highly recommend Superior woodcraft.

There are other quality custom millwork companies out there but I would NEVER recommend this one!

Just as importantly, LBK employees are kind and conscientious. They sent us gift baskets both when they heard about a death in our family and when they found out we were pregnant with our first child. And last week, when we had a leak that damaged the kitchen ceiling, they came out immediately (within 1 hour of us calling) to investigate. Even though it turned out that the leak was coming from our bathroom and was unconnected to the work they had done last summer, LBK still covered the repair of the kitchen ceiling, drywall, and painting under the warranty. Jose, our project manager, was instrumental in getting this done. Less than a week later, it was good as new. We are so grateful to LBK for their service and generosity, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality work and excellent customer relations.

We absolutely loved working with their team and could not recommend them more highly. Even from the start of "sales" process, no one ever pressured us, and the team was completely understanding of and worked within our budget. The design process was really easy and enjoyable - LBK really got to know us and suggested designs and items for the spaces that really fit with our personalities and themes. Once that was done, the team was clear about when the project would get started and overall timelines. The Project Manager and on-site team were absolutely wonderful - they were always respectful of the space and our family when we were in and out and by cleaning up at the end of the day. The head carpenter for each of the jobs (kitchen and master bath) also took our space and family's tastes in mind for individual recommendations when looking at final fittings/hardwares, etc. Even all the individual contractors they had come in for the work (electricians, plumbers, etc.) were all very considerate. I could not recommend this LBK Design team more highly - you will be in such trustworthy and skilled hands throughout the whole process.

He apologized, then immediately started it again. They redid the floor in my mother's living room and had to take up a railing I built by the foyer. They cracked it, knicked it, and mangled it when they took it up to put the floor down. It was put back with gaps that were not there when I built it. Cracks in the runner, spindles marred-up, finish nails driven part-way in, then hammered over and the holes not filled. It was a nice oak railing. Now I have to fix it. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

They have done a tremendous job for me. Outside my retaining wall was replaced, new steps and walkway, new storm door and new sliding door was replaced along with new railings and awnings. Everyone involved was always very polite, professional, hardworking, always on time. At the end of their work day they made sure to clean up and make it possible for us maneuver around. After all the outside work was completed I was so pleased, I had them take care of the inside upgrade. That included tearing up flooring, addressing the squeaks in the hardwood and installing a new floor throughout, looks beautiful. They installed a new backsplash and countertop in my kitchen. I kept my cabinets and the guys painted them, they also repaired a broken cabinet door and you'd never know it was broken, everything looks great. It was necessary to make upgrades to my electrical box, I now feel safe that was taken care of. The guys have a few things to finish up for me, which my son Drew was not aware of before he became upset about the railing he posted about. I know I can depend on George to handle them. I am so pleased beyond ecstatic with all the work George has done in my home, we have had a great working experience. I couldn't be happier and have and will recommend Penn Remodeling Service to my family and friends.

This post was submitted in 2011. I am resubmitting it again…read more This post is to warn others about M. Kaufman Roofing Contractors, Inc. or as they are known in Northeast Philadelphia - Kaufman Roofing. I am not one to complain, but I feel that I should warn the public about what I perceived to be Kaufman Roofing's lack of business ethics, as well, as their lack of quality workmanship during a roofing job that they did on our row home. M. Kaufman Roofing was contracted to construct two new skylights, as well as a new roof. We have used M. Kaufman Roofing Contractors, Inc. in the past with no problems. They have been in the roofing business for over 30 years. Apparently, we were now dealing with the second generation of M. Kaufman Roofing Contractors, Inc. They were contracted to construct a "top main roof," two new skylights, etc. I reviewed their work and found that they had not completed the project. The following was noted: workmanship was inadequate; did not call prior to showing up for this job; they damaged the eave box for the downspout; they destroyed a screen window with their ladder; they did not completely coat the roof, they damaged the bargeboard and cover which was supposed to be removed during the first job and replaced with new material. They used short screws instead of nails; they left both skylights unlocked; they did not fix the soil pipe between skylights; they damaged the existing party box cover; they did not install flashing to the base of the rear chimney; they did not remove all job related debris and haul it away from the job site. I tried to resolve the problem by calling M. Kaufman Roofing Contractors. Each time I called M. Kaufman Roofing, I was met with extreme verbal abuse. They were rude, nasty, unhelpful, unprofessional, and most definitely lacked ethical business practices. I would never recommend M. Kaufman Roofing Contractors, Inc. for any roofing job. They were dishonest in their dealings and the worst of the roofing contractors. Avoid M. Kaufman Roofing Contractors, Inc. - they are just bad news. I felt that they had clearly misrepresented themselves.

A year later, I started seeing cracking in the tiles and grout. I called, no response. I continued to call for over a year, and finally, they responded. They came out and looked and said they would repair tile and grout under warranty. They fixed the tile, but not the grout. The grout they did put in around the new tiles was a much lighter color, but they assured me that it was only because it was new, and it would age to the proper color. I later found out they had based the replacement grout on the receptionist remembering that I had wanted a floor from the studio display. While I had chosen the tile from the display, I had not chosen the same grout, as it was far too light for a kitchen floor. A couple of years later, grout still cracked, more tiles cracked. I had them come out again, and they said they would replace them and fix the grout. There was no mention of a charge, nor was an estimate given, oral or written. They came out and Frank repaired the tiles. He was careful and talented, and the only reason I would give any stars. He had me help choose the grout, and the new grout around the new tiles is almost perfect. Then came the bill. I was told that since the cracking was due to joist movement, it wasn't their problem, so they had to charge me. $2600. For about 12 tiles. I understand if there is a problem and a company needs to charge for repairs. But, the proper procedure is to give an estimate. If I had been given an estimate, I would have fully understood that I was not under any warranty. I would have then been free to hire someone else for the repairs. TL/DR: Shoddy work + over a year of waiting for a reply + wrong color grout + bill when none discussed + no communication = unhappy customer And, the grout is still the wrong color.

I gave them the chance to submit a better bid and their next one was even higher! Stay away from these guys.
