I moved here from way up north. From a place where allergies are not a big thing and not big money…read morefor business like it is here. But after living here in this area that the native Indians used to call the 'valley of sickness' for about five years I started to develop allergy symptoms. It all came to a head one spring I could no longer breathe and when I rocked my head in the right position a waterfall would come out of my nose from my sinuses . Because of the breathing problem, I started having sleep issues and developed narcolepsy. That is when I made an appointment with Dr. Mark Hagood of the Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck Clinic. Dr. Hagood diagnosed me with enlarged tonsils and a deviated symptom. He then scheduled me for my surgery. Dr Hagood performed a tonsillectomy and rhinoplasty on me. I will say having the surgery done is one decision I will never regret. Now fast forward ten years after the surgery I no longer have any sinus issues, I can always breathe, I no longer snore, my narcolepsy disappeared, and I got rid of my CPAP machine. Even when I have a sinus infection I can breathe just fine. The surgery itself was fine, I had no pain since I was put under and slept through the entire procedure. Although the recovery was hell since I had splits in my nose for like a week. This whole experience was the best life changing decision I have ever made. I would recommend them to anyone.

On two separate occasions I saw Dr. Powell for salivary gland disease. He was very professional…read moreand I thought he was empathetic to my issue but I didn't realize he couldn't help me. For over 6 years I have had this green crap in my throat. It is very bothersome causing me to wake at night gagging on it because it's become so thick. Every day I'm sick to my stomach, I have headaches and when I bend down I have so much pressure in my head and neck. Three years in I received a culture which showed I have/had Haemophilus Influenza which is a bacterial infection although the name influenza many people think it's "the flu virus" which it is not. I took antibiotics for 50 days with no relief. Prior to this my PCP had me on antibiotics 12-15 over a couple years and because I had the infection for so long I thought that's why the 50 days didn't cure it. So I went to Dr Powell who did cultures twice both coming back without infection. Dr. Powell put my swabs in saline which was concerning to me because I thought it would dilute my sample. But he's the expert. Now, I'm still living with this green crap which is now showing signs of blood. But I wasn't aware that this clinic has limited services and doesn't offer services for my problem. Their services on their website only lists a sore throat not anything to do with salivary glands. While looking for other ENTs their websites specify "salivary gland disease". I guess this is why Dr Powell didn't have any further services he could recommend for my problem. I would like to add on both occasions I had to wait nearly 2 hours before Dr Powell set foot in the room. I wish I wouldn't have wasted my time at this clinic. It is so upsetting when Doctor's or clinics do not value their patient's time and force them to wait an unreasonable amount of time. Missing hours of work waiting for a doctor costs us money. A Doctor would never see a patient who was over 90 minutes late.
