I have, unfortunately, become well acquainted with various physical therapy entities as I continue…read moremy journey into old age. Over the last three years, I have undergone therapy for various injuries at Physical Therapy Central offices in both Norman and Newcastle. Although very pleased with my treatment by Casey & Trent in Norman, I have found "The One" since I moved to Newcastle some months ago: Paige Green's successful treatment of (first) my Piriformis Syndrome in my left hip and subsequent treatment of my torn labrum in my right shoulder has left me wishing I had moved to Newcastle sooner, and restored a vital part of my life: my mobility and my ability to play tennis. Paige is well-educated & informed as a PT; her compassionate and gentle treatments helped me steadily progress back to my "old" self; indeed, my mobility on the court has improved since treatment with Paige. Moreover, Paige's patient instruction of my rehab exercises enabled me to develop a post-treatment program which continues to strengthen my Piriformis muscle and remove that constant fear of reinjury. Paige is currently treating me for a torn labrum; an older injury whose pain I had resolved to just live with; however, after her successful treatment of my Piriformis muscle I asked her if she thought she could help with my shoulder and she said "Yes", and indeed she has. Her treatments have helped me regain the flexibility in my shoulder while strengthening my labrum. To be pain-free and worry-free about my shoulder is a gift I thought I was too old to receive. Thank you, Paige, for your skill, your caring, and your motivational lessons. Kudos to all the staff at PT Central; they are very professional, courteous, knowledgeable and caring.

Shawn is truly the only person I trust to treat them. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional and his experience in dry needling and manual manipulation has helped them recover much more quickly and completely than anywhere else. Shawn and Justine work as a well-oiled machine to get you in and out as quickly as possible and Lauren is always so cheerful and helpful when scheduling appointments or helping with insurance questions.

Neck and Shoulders Pain relief and greater range of motion…read moreI'm a 66 year old retired RN, who lifted too many patients unassisted - and lifted heavy weights in the gyms and the oilfield (78-86) for too many years. Results were a great life and career, but the COST in arthritic pain, mostly from old injuries, that occasionally can be intolerable. It stays with you to some degree, every minute of every day. I had very bad "loose shoulders complicated with serious compression in my neck at C-3 c-4 and C5-6. I couldn't sleep more than 45 minutes without turning over to restore feeling to one or both arms. Additionally the pain from torn rotator cuffs and bone on bone in shoulder joints was there almost 24/7. The physical therapy was tailored to me with no big promises. They had to fix my neck before my shoulder - no one else had taken this approach. The secret weapon cutting edge has is; "Dry Needling". Okay yes, there are needles- very small, but these make you feel better. This is NOT Acupuncture. Dry Needling helps to exhaust muscles that shouldn't be contracting, as well as exhausting nerve pathways so they don't transmit as much. Also there is the microscopic injury to nerve or other tissue that signals the body to "FIX it here". No Tylenol or other anti inflammatory meds or over the counter for the remainder of the day of treatment. This helps the body to identify "all" of what's wrong. So after a 30 min strengthening exercise routine, the needles (very very small) are expertly placed In the affected area then 2 electrodes are attached to needles that send a very mild shock through nerve tracts for about 15 to 20 min - then you go home. You decide how much current and control any discomfort . I believe that physical therapy with dry needling has helped me avoid surgery - if I had surgery, then I couldn't fly traction kites or do other overhead activities. Most nights, I sleep all night now. I ride a big motorcycle, fly kites that pick me up and power carts, and workout at gym, and do all the never ending repairs of an older house. I definitely have much more fun and quality in my life directly related to physical therapy and specifically DRY NEEDLING. This is not an over night quick fix. It is NOT acupuncture...It is NOT Accupuncture. It is a highly educated and trained professional who knows exactly what they are doing. Give yourself a break.
