Catching up on the reviews for the last few days.
Yep this is a cesspool, and Valero gas, per my mechanic ought to be called Venereal, as it isn't much better than the pi$$ Arco sells. But I was in the area, working for the good fingers people, and as this isn't my car, well who cares, right? The prices were ok, I picked up a lottery ticket while inside, and yeah this place is pretty dingy, not in a good grimy liquor store way, but just dirty. Like wear a hazmat suit, take a shower in bleach, kind of dirty.
The guy behind the counter looked pretty out of it.For those of you who've seen "Apocalypse Now", remember the green beret in Colonel Kurtz' camp who was eyeballing Willard and Chef? Yep that is this guy.
Oh and it reeks like a mutant funk of gas, piss, and vomit on the one gas aisle. This was all the more enhanced on a hot summer day. I wonder if Calvin Klein could bottle and sell that scent?
People watchers, take note. There are some interesting folks wandering around here, while pumping gas, a gentleman came up and told me that the Kardashians and CIA have a hitman looking for him. OKAAAAAY. Thankfully, no hitman or sicario emerged from behind the gas pump and attempted to collect on the contract. Why the CIA and Kardashians would be after some smack/rockhead/tweaker in Pac Town is beyond mine or the Ladyfriend's comprehension.
The Ladyfriend is convinced that I have a weirdo magnet, as I get either the thugs and tweakers (see my review on San Fernando Court for that one) or the mentally unbalanced headed my way. I was quick to point out that she fell in love with me. She wasn't amused in the slightest, NOT AT ALL. So, yep, I'll be on the couch for a night or three.
I am a reasonably brave man, but no way in hell would I eat any of the food or walk into the rest room here. But I will give 5 stars on the ambience alone.
Tarantino needs to hang out in Pac Town. He could make one great flick about this place. read more
