Don't bother with the big serving of Tomato & Mozzarella salad...it is way overpriced at I think 25 francs! I haven't tried the pasta at Giardino...but looking at other guests platters they seem to be smaller servings. At any given day I would rate the restaurant with 3 out of 5 stars. But the Calzone alone deserves his own star. 4/5 stars!

For an expensive "fine dining" spot, this place does not deliver. Avoid at all costs! Let's begin with the location and our waiter, Alfred. It's a "non-smoking" hotel, but is reminiscent of the 80s in the US when they placed smokers right next to the "non-smoking section." There is a smoker's lounge on the first floor of the hotel, which makes the entire floor reek like an ashtray (think casino!). There are dozens of guests smoking just outside the doors, including the restaurant, which pumps even more cigarette smoke into first floor and the dining room! Disgusting way to eat, none of the food or wine tastes right in a smoke-laced room. The hotel allows a minority of guests to ruin the restaurant for most diners. Alfred, a smoker, greeted us reeking of smoke... 1/2 a table away, it was nauseating! Which also likely explains his prolonged absences from our table, outside on a smoking break! Service abominable... it took 90 minute after we finished our entrees to get dessert and the check. The host serviced most tables around us, one diner simply got up and left. Let's mention food. Asparagus soup was good, as was the house salad. The risotto was very undercooked, which was one whole dish plus side at our table. The veal saltimbocca was cooked well, but quite salty. The red wine was served room temperature, obviously not cared for in a climate controlled atmosphere! Ice cream for dessert was mediocre, the chocolate ice cream tasted freezer burned, and was only 1/2 a scoop. The restaurant could be great. But, management has to step up and deliver the "smoke free" hotel promised in all its advertising. If you're a smoker, this place is for you. For non-smokers, the hotel and restaurant fails miserably. We're here several more days, but definitely will not dine at this place again! Do not dine here if you want a quality meal in a "smoke free" environment!

Prices were high but my chicken schnitzel with truffle aoili and an egg was good. I also enjoyed an Erdinger as my last great beer for the trip. The following morning I was supposed to have breakfast there, but the timing of my flight necessitated that I get a to go bag. I requested the bag for 6:15 am as they didn't open til 6:30. The bag wasn't actually ready when I went to the desk and checked out, but a concierge went and retrieved it. The meal itself was fine with a decent roast beef sandwich, yogurt and a few other things. The Radisson is a very nice hotel and even though my room was next to a thoroughfare I didn't hear any road noise. The gym and sauna were also welcome.

Luigia's was fantastic!!! The atmosphere is sophisticated and fun- think red velvet and dim lighting, bustling with activity. Great date place for sure- everyone looked so good in this lighting! We started with bruschetta- it had mortadella and black truffle mayo . Amazing. They CARE about their ingredients and it shows! The Greek salad was delicious, with homemade dressing and perfect for 2 to share. The pizza- San Marzano tomatoes, onions, artichokes-- all laid out beautifully on a superbly baked crust-absolute perfection. This meal was the perfect way to start a vacation. We watched the bartender in awe, making beautiful drinks with love and precision. Our server was excellent and attentive. They provided us English menus and never made us feel awkward for not speaking the language. Going out on a limb to say, possibly the best Italian in Switzerland!
