Amazing facility! Amazing quality of care! Some exceptional people related to my experience. I had three fantastic CNA's. Rosa, Wanda and Leticia if I remember correctly. Kept me very comfortable with my meds. I especially want to thank Eddie who helped my tremendously with some related issues that come along with being on certain meds. My mom had a stroke and once discharged from the hospital we chose Valencia Gardens after touring several other facilities. We made the right choice as my mom has been receiving excellent care. The staff has treated her with kindness and respect. She is receiving physical therapy and occupational therapy and is making excellent progress, slowly but surely. Susan and her staff have been great. All of her nurses and caregivers (too many wonderful people to mention individually) treat her like family. Chris has treated my mom with such love and compassion. He goes out of his way to say hello and check on her. He even looks for her to say goodbye after his shift. We have been so happy with the genuine care my mom has received and would recommend Valencia Gardens to anyone in need of their services. read more

I stayed here for a month recovering from a back injury. Everybody from the admissions staff, nurses, PT, OT to the janitorial care to dining services was absolutely amazing and run like a well-oiled machine. They were professional yet personable and patient. Vanessa, Christine and Lesley were incredible from Admission to discharge - everything flowed smoothly. PT staff were so amazing - Elton, Crispy, Donna, Susan, Caleb were my main PTs - they were patient and so skilled - almost intuitive to patients' needs. I hate to name names because everyone pitched in when needed. Three shifts of nurses, CNAs, etc. all very professional. A humbling experience, because at my worst I could not move; all my faculties were tended to by these dedicated individuals. They were kind and gentle - as I was in excruciating pain the first week. I kept a diary. I asked several people why they did this job and they said they loved helping people. - it didn't matter - young and older staff said the same thing. Shirley, Rosa, Andres, Eric - the wound nurse, annebelle, Sydney, Bevelyn, Hyacinth, Chris, Yara, claudia - I am missing people I know. - they were all amazing. Th dietitians consulted with me for my needs and tastes. They were always there if I needed something. The food was very good - which is a challenge as medications can mess with taste buds. This place is clean clean clean! A couple times a day halls were swept and mopped - with patient safety a top priority. Beds were changed regularly. Assistance was a call away and very quick to respond. There were even activities for the patients - bingo, movie day, and other activities to keep the mind sharp and keep spirits up. Maricella and Liz were awesome. Whether you are young- recovering from an athletic injury or have an elderly loved one recovering from a procedure - be assured that they are in skilled, educated and caring hands here. read more

* The communication is awful. I give zero stars to the 2 case managers. * Most of the CNA's are kind and helpful. * Susan and her rehab team is the best thing about this place. * For the most part mom liked the food. * Do not let them do your laundry. You will never see your items again. If you're young and recovering from shoulder or knee surgery and able to fend for yourself (i.e., you rarely need to press the call light), I recommend this place. If you're old with dementia and needing assistance with using the toilet, eating, dressing .. I don't recommend this place. I can't unsee what I saw. One of many experiences ... One Saturday I went to visit mom. Her door was shut. Strange. I opened it and found her flat on her back in bed with a nasal oxygen tube, naked from the waist down, laying in her own waste and staring at the ceiling. For how long? And why didn't you notify us about the oxygen need? All of a sudden a charge nurse showed up, the CNA, and shortly after that, the PA. It still makes my blood boil that I found mom in that state. I could go on, but it's too gut wrenching to relive those moments. For the staff that were exceptionally kind and helpful to mom, thank you. We so appreciate you. Mom died January 13th. I really wanted to give this place a better rating. It's probably better than most but at the end of the day it is what it is a nursing home complete with all the smells. My Dad was there just 2 weeks for rehabilitative PT care. Getting rest was challenging. His roommate fell out of bed, pooped all over, made loud groaning noises ... my Dad couldn't rest. We tried to get him a private room but none were available. The food was just ok .... not great. My Mom tried to call the facility one evening and no one answered. She ended up having to drive there to reach someone.The staff were pretty nice. Do your research. read more

The staff here are friendly and helpful. If it gets busy, they let me know and will come back as soon as they can to help. The facility is clean and they decorated the facility for Fall. It feels cozy and comfy walking in. The nursing staff are sweet and professional. read more

I am writing this review as a student nurse that spent more than 12 weeks at this facility. I can honestly say that the staff truly cares about the patient's, from the cooks, CNAs, LVNs, RN Supervisor, Administration, and Director of Nursing. Valencia Gardens staff worked as a true team for the betterment and well-being of the patients. My classmates and I worked besides and learned from LVN's like Eddie, Lina, Didi, Annabella, and Hyacinth. They taught us so much on how to become a nurse, but more importantly how to CARE for your patients. Unlike other facilities, they were willing to take the time to show us what it means to become a nurse. The RN supervisor, Armi, has the exact qualities i would love to work under when I eventually find a job, her spirit makes you WANT to come to work. It was a privilege to work along some of the most caring CNAs as well, i also want to give them a shot out i wont remember all of them, but Annabel, Christian, Delilah, Alex, Grace, Rosie, Ms Shirly, Jocelyn and Many more; without your dedication and care, healthcare would be nothing....I was amazed when I witnessed former patients that come back to Say Hi and continue give their gratitude. I would recommend Valencia Gardens to everyone, if you want to a tour of the place, go on the weekend, because Jackie is wonderful! read more

My father had a stroke and May and ended up here and I feel as a son I failed him by not doing any recon ahead of his transfer. We filled out the form for alternate meals every week and every week he was brought the wrong food. They were good about getting him up in the morning but would quickly put him back to bed where he would lay for 20+ hours a day. He had several personal items go missing and staff there was very unhelpful when asked about the items. Some of the staff are very curt and rough with patients, saw if first hand with not just my father. Some of the staff are outstanding and genuinely care about the services they are providing while others make it very obvious with their words and their expressions that could care less about you or your loved one. The facility is very clean and the grounds are nice but that does make up for the less than stellar treatment of patients and the lack of physical rehab. Yes they work to rehab the patients but there is so much more they could be doing to improve the quality of care they provide. They need to have a more targeted treatment/pt plan for patients as one size does not fit all. I would not let any of my family members or anyone I know in Riverside choose that place for their rehabilitation. They are not the patients advocate when dealing with the insurance and really rushed on discharging my father even though while in their care his physical condition did not improve and if anything declined. 24hrs is a joke as well, you could never get anyone on the phone after 5p, the phone would ring a thousand times and when asked someone would laugh and say oh the nurse must have forgotten to take the phone back to the station or some other lame excuse. read more

My aunt was in the facility for a short 5 days, the staff, nurses, and PT were really great. She had one high BP reading after having two cups of coffee and PT, and this facility went overboard on the amount of scripts they wrote her for 1 elevated BP reading! Absolutely ridiculous! I almost feel like they take advantage of insurance money, writing out new prescriptions, and the fact they wrote her 2 additional BP medications; will never sit right with me. She was sent home with 2 additional BP meds, a pain med (never was given any in the hospital), so it was odd that this facility would write a script for that, when she never mentioned any pain. Not once, not ever. I feel bad for others in here that don't have active family to advocate for their health, it's like they're going to keep them overly medicated, and then wonder why half don't make it out of these places. We're now getting calls from pharmacies saying her refills are ready to be picked up! How?!! She's been gone from there for 2 weeks and was sent home with a 30 day supply! Followed up with her primary doctors and they agreed that the script writing was really aggressive considering one elevated BP reading. Again, the facility and everyone involved are great, just be cautious of how much medicines your family member is being given. read more

If I could give "0" stars I would. My father had a stroke in 2018, and we chose to have him do his rehabilitation at this facility. This business absolutely stinks. My father's left side was paralysed due to a stroke-but during PT the therapists almost completely ignored his left arm. Within several weeks his arm started to slip out of socket and he could no longer use it at all (not without tremendous pain.) He even requested to have his left hand strapped to the upper body cycle so it could get exercise/movement to no avail. My father suffered because many (not all) of the people in this facility dropped the ball and only did the minimum of therapy. (They also lost a lot of clothes!) Investigate and ask questions. You are your loved ones advocate! read more

My mom spent 30 days here after a month in the hospital. I was worried about where to send her and chose this place solely on the recommendation of a friend, and I'm so glad I did. The staff was so good even on days when they were short, my mom was always well taken care of. She was very weak and not able to walk when she arrived and they were able to get her to where she could get up to go to the restroom, which made bringing her home possible. We actually miss the nurses, CNAs and therapists that made us feel at home. I spent every day there my Aunt spent every night so my mom was never alone, but if I wasn't able to be there, I would have felt comfortable because after getting to know the staff, I knew that they would check on her often enough. I've been to several other facilities when my mom was caring for the mother of a friend who passed away, and this is by far the best place if you need to put someone in a short term care facility. It is in a residential neighborhood and feels as close to being at home as possible. They even put on a fall festival in October complete with pony rides and a petting zoo so my mom got to hold a baby pig and get her face painted. They also have Bingo, entertainers, a lady that comes in and does hair and lots of other extras that really make staying here so much nicer than a typical hospital setting. If you're looking for a place to care for a loved one, I would seriously do everything possible to try to get a bed at Valencia Gardens. read more

The circumstances that my son came in when he was admitted into Valencia were severe. My son needed extensive therapy and assistance due to his severe injuries he couldn't care for himself. Valencia staff team were amazing, caring and very pacient, not only with my son but with me as well. We are so thankful and we certainly trust they will do the same for your love ones too. read more

A 50th anniversary trip to Hawaii turned out to be a nightmare. Third day into trip, my husband breaks his hip. Surgery and a 5-day hospital stay we fly home. Before flying home, I was in touch with our PC doctor . Before I knew it, I was getting text messages from Bonnie at Valencia Gardens. She was my angel who arranged my husband's admission. Valencia Gardens was waiting for my husband and talk about a smooth process, there was no need for me to stress. Bonnie had it all under control. What a sweetheart, caring, understanding, and professional lady!! Thank you, Bonnie! The Valencia Gardens staff could not be more caring. From Grace, Shirley, Alex, Susan, Christina, Donna, and I know I left so many of the staff out, God bless you all. You took such excellent care of my husband - and I know he was a "pain" lots of the time!! Valencia Gardens is more of a "home" than a health care facility. Spotless, no nasty nursing home smells, large, wholesome meals, I could leave my husband knowing he was in great hands. Thank you Valencia Gardens - you all are awesome! read more

1. The Physical Therapy & Gym ### I had to come here after 30 days in the hospital so that I could learn how to walk again and get strength back in my upper body as well. It's taken me 3 weeks of strenuous daily exercise I can already say that the Physical Therapy department in this unit is wonderful. They have many trained physical therapists to get you back to normal so that you can gain your muscle strength back. I couldn't stand up straight walk when I came here and I can now. They are all great and plan your every next type of therapy. 2. The Food ### All I can say about the food is that it's really good almost every day. The menu is well varied you got me different types of dishes every day and so you get breakfast, lunch and dinner and the omelettes to prepare for breakfast in the in the oatmeal or cornflakes or whatever it might be It's really good and as far as lunches and dinners they bring Holcomb to different stuff last night. I had spaghetti and meatballs. Oh well wasn't spaghetti. It was a different type of version of a pasta. If you have specifications you want followed like for example I don't like broccoli when there's broccoli on the menu I got something else. So about the only thing I can see them I think they need to correct is is the soups and the fruits. Sometimes you get fresh fruit most times you don't Eat something out of a can. And the same with soups they need to really be made fresh every day and it's not that hard to do it and I think it probably cost less to do it. No I was a chef for many years and I know how to cook and so I kind a look for things that I know or homemade, and they do a really good job here overall. But they can cut up some fresh fruit especially in the summertime when there's such a well available since you're such a great available. 3. Nursing and administrative. ### the nursing and administrative staff here have just been wonderful. They always ask me if there's anything else I need done to make me more comfortable. The nurses always have my medication's at the time that I need them. And to be honest anytime anybody is cold in my room cause I've got a button that I push and they always come in with a smile on their face and want to know how I'm doing today or how I'm doing tonight they always ask her to make sure I'm doing OK. One of the little nice things is it about two or three hours after dinner they come and ask if she would like a snack and sometimes it's a peanut butter sandwich or it could be yellow I could be ice cream or it could be crackers and stuff like that. The only thing that I have found is a negative and I talk to the administrator about that this morning is there's not a lot of flies but there's always one that seems to be flying around my room and I complained about that sometime ago but now I'm complaining about it again and I told administrator that I would be putting this in my yelp review so he is aware of it. 4. Overall, this is really a nice place. It's well cleaned regularly. The staff are very happy. My room is cleaned every day by the cleaning stuff that comes in and sweeps and mops my floor daily and empties my trash, changes my sheets and makes my bed. The gym is great always clean and I've gotten all my strength back from when I entered here several weeks ago and if I ever am in need of another skilled nursing facility, I am going to need a skilled nursing facility again I would come here. read more

My parent completed Rehab at Valencia Gardens. I was very impressed with the management, and everything trickled down in an overall positive experience. I would recommend, and return. 99% of staff went above & beyond my expectations. Especially Loren, Grace, Austin, Steven & Lawrence Only issue was a 45 minute, unanswered call light, on the second eveing of the stay. And an interaction with a NOC shift CNA, whom didnt seem interested when parent experienced a short tachycardia sprint in the middle of the night. According to parent, CNA didnt show interest in my parents fearful event, nor was she the least bit personable while preforming care duties, and additionally isolated parent, by closing the room door to the corridor when she left the room. Parent said no one returned to check on them again, for the remainder of the night. *Parents door had never closed except during this incident, and parent expressed feeling the CNA left them (alone) to die behind the closed door that night. I advocated for my parent, talking to both the charge nurse & caseworker the following day. I was assured, and belive the situation would be addressed. If your out looking, know I visited 8 facilities before choosing Valencia Gardens. It is by far the best around. read more

The nurses here, AWESOME. My dad loved his nurses and his rehab team. This is more about administration and their poor communication with me and my family. Luckily for them, 'rona has kept me from being able to be in the facility with my dad. His doctor, Dr. Anousheh Ashouri, convinced us that this facility was wonderful and they had the best rehab opportunity for my dad and that her mother (or grandmother) went to this facility as well and highly recommended them. My dad was at this facility for over a month and she saw him, MAYBE twice. Granted, we had a chat with her and she said she's working with a lot of covid patients at the hospital and that she wasn't allowed to go see him in person... fine, BUT FREAKING TELL US THAT... when we hear the doctor hasn't seen my dad in WEEKS and she hasn't contacted us about his progress,,, that's not okay. We don't know her schedule and what she's doing. All we know is that she's my dad's MD and he's hardly seen her.. On to the next person, my dad's social worker, Victor. Again, the communication was poor. His appointments got mixed up several times, they took him to the wrong office, they scheduled him at the wrong places, I made appointments FOR my dad and relayed the new appointment dates to Victor.. Needless to say, within a few days of my dad finally departing this place, Victor no longer works there,, (face palm). I don't play ANY kind of games when it comes to my dad ESPECIALLY if we can't even BE THERE with him... The facility care, nurses, etc, TOTALLY great. It's the administration that was so poor. I don't know if these places get kickbacks of some sort, which, I wouldn't be surprised.. It was really frustrating feeling as though I had to stay on top of my dad's case in its entirety. From rescheduling appointments, asking for updates with my dad's health, and having to hunt down his doctor to get an overall assessment of his health. I'm glad there are happy clients that have gone here and dad did love his nurses,,, administration, the communication needs an upgrade. read more

The care was ok, therapy team was amazing. My issue and why only 3 stars is the administration and their lack of communication and empathy. My mom was transferred out to the hospital without our knowledge (not OK at all) and before any of us could grab her iPad, iPad charger and iPhone charger, they seemed to have walked off. I have been trying for over a month to get answers since it was on her inventory sheet. Being given the complete run around even after several calls and 2 trips to the actual facility. Each time I am told that someone will call me back, never a return call. They simply act like they do not care and it's super sad to me that my mom's things are just not important to them. read more

I Sylvia had to stay at a care facility after having major surgery on my abdominal area I was sent to Valencia Gardens I had never been there before but staying there was awesome the staff there was amazing they cater to your needs all the time other place smell when you walk in and don't give patient many shower but here at Valencia Gardens they shower you evey or we day. I could not be more impressed with the care and attention from the staff. During this COVID mess it's been so challenging finding quality care for my Grandmother after a recent fall. My Grandmother was given very short notice of her discharge and Bonnie and Georgy moved mountains to get my Grandmother to their facility. I got a call as soon as my Grandmother arrived and asked after she was settled if I could get a FaceTime. They called me on FaceTime right away. I'm so happy to have found this place! Being in LA and not being able to be in person to advocate for her has been so stressful but I feel so good having her in their hands. Thank you to all the amazing staff! 5 stars are not enough. This place is immaculate. Brian, Georgie,Steven,Maria,Gilda,Johnny,Sandra, Crystal, Eddie ,Angela ,Victor & I forgot the other lady who works along side Gilda are all amazing truly God Sent people. They give amazing care and attention to their patients , and family's are always welcome. We were reluctant to admit my FIL do to a injury because We've had a lot of bad experiences from other facilities but NOT this place This place is very warm , inviting, never dirty & has a great vibe. My teenage children didn't mind when it was time visit their grandfather here. It didn't gross them out. I am happy to say this place was the extension of our hands & care to my FIL doing what we could not do. Valencia gardens is trash. My mom was there for three weeks. When she arrived, she was placed in a room and like all the others, her room and the room next to it were divided by a curtain. We saw nurses and physical therapists going in there gowned up, head to toe which indicates isolation. The woman on isolation was meant to be sharing a restroom with my mother. The nurses were supposed to weigh her everyday to make sure she wasn't gaining fluid in her lungs and that stopped after like five days. They made her speak to a dietitian and disregarded the dietitian's orders. The nurses yelled at her, Her gowns were stolen, and her kidney function dropped significantly. When she went in her kidney function was around 30%. Upon discharge, her kidney function is now 16% They were supposed to test her for aneurysms and vertigo and never did. If you love yourself or loved one, I would not recommend this place. read more

Also I feel my dad was released too soon by their physical therapist after hip surgery. But that's only my opinion. But overall care was good read more

My grandma stayed here for about 3 weeks because of a fractured hip. The staff, the nurses, the physical therapists and the doctors are all super duper nice, so supportive, and they all actually care!! This is like a brand new facility. It is gorgeous inside from the minute you walk in. It smells great and gives you that comfortable feeling of being at home. The large lobby is the best. We were able to hang out with family, watch tv, play board games and cards, and just relax and talk. This place was very accommodating to our family. The people here make this place even better. The nursing and rehab staff are extraordinary! These people are saints and really care about the people. I have never met so many sweet, kind, and compassionate people. If we have to do rehab for physical therapy again, I know right where I'm coming. What a relief and a blessing to come here. Thank you all so much for your love and compassion shown to our family! Very unprofessional. I called to. Let them know i was outside facility to do my job... The lady that answered phone placed me on hold for over 10 minutes. I hung up and called back to be placed on hold again. There was a sign that asked visitors not to enter but after waiting so long i entered. They just laughed like its funny that i waited outside. I did wait but so as not to risk my health or the heath of their patients. You would think this. Would be their priority as they are in the health industry . also there was no screening done. I definitely would not recommend them for your loved ones! read more

We highly recommend this facility. The nursing and medical staff were professional and friendly. They welcomed having family present. The physical therapy was top-notch. The facility is recently remodeled, clean and comfortable. An elderly family member was there for rehab after hip surgery for two weeks and there were never any problems, whatsoever. Incredible!!!! It was so stressful and difficult trying to find a great facility for my stepfather to get the care that he needs. He was also quite reluctant and hesitant as well. I read the reviews and checked the website to see all the awards Valencia Garden has received and knew it would be great for him. When I called I was given Bonnie Vera's number and was told she would take care of everything. WOW!!! She absolutely did and more. She's amazing at communicating, even when she is not technically on the clock. She took the time to listen to my concerns and did everything possible to make my stepfather comfortable, check on him personally, and keep me informed every step of the way. I'm so grateful that she was able to process everything and have him admitted within hours. I tried to call my stepfather, but his phone was off and Bonnie offered to FaceTime for me from her cell phone so I could talk to him and see him. She goes above and beyond. I met some of the other staff, like Georgy, and they all truly care about their patients and are so very sweet!!!!! Thank you! I know my stepfather is in the best hands and I can rest assured he will make improvements to get stronger again. read more

They have done everything from scheduling his appointments and making sure he is there on time to making sure he's ok with every meal.
