INSURANCE FRAUD!!! I'VE BE CANCELLED BY CABRILLO FAMILY DENTAL??!!…read more I was a patient of this practice for several years. Despite them going out of network with all insurance companies, I continued because I liked the my dental hygienist. Dr. Henspetter, however, never actually performed any dental work on me because none was needed. Only exams. In January 2024 I had pain in a tooth and brought this up with Dr. Henspetter. Right away he said that I might have a crack in the tooth and it might need to be pulled. I was in shock and fear. He referred to an out of network root canal specialist, who was wonderful but costly. No crack but ended up needing a root canal which ended being over 2k. I returned to Dr. Henspetter for a permanent filling and crown in February 2024. Prior to scheduling the appointment I asked the front office if I could have the permanent filling done without placing a crown and was told this was not possible. I was hesitant but when ahead a scheduled. At my appointment I was nervous as this was my first root canal and I was not enthusiastic about the idea of having a crown placed at the time and could I just have a permanent filling placed. When I expressed my concerns Dr. Henspetter explained that I could go without a crown but that the likelihood of cracking the tooth was high and that the best option would be placing a crown. I told him I was not feeling still comfortable at that time having the cows an he visibly became upset. His tone and demeanor changed. At that point I didn't that it wise for me to allow him to do any work on me at that point because of his behavior. So I said I want to hold off for the time being. I could tell he was not pleased but I felt it was the right decision. The following month, March 2024, I found another dentist who was in network to do a permanent filling on the tooth. I gave them my insurance information and scheduled an appointment. The receptionist called me back to say that she contacted the insurance company and they said I already had a crown placed on that tooth. I told the receptionist what happened and Castillo family dental and that I had NOT in fact had any work done on that tooth. I called the insurance company and was told the Cabrillo Family dental had been paid for work billed the DAY BEFORE my actual appointment. I called Cabrillo Family Dental and asked if they had billed my insurance for work that I never received. I was told yes but that it was an error and they would straighten it out with the insurance company. After this I continued my dental care at another practice. Fast forward to February 2026, I made an appointment to have a cleaning with the hygienist because as stated earlier she was excellent. My appointment was for Tuesday February 17th. I received a called to confirm the Friday before, and I confirmed. Then I received another call asking me to come in at 9am instead of 11am. On my way to the appointment. 30 minutes prior to my appointment time, I received a call from the office. The woman's said in an unpleasant tone, "I'm calling about your appointment, we need to cancel." I replied, I'm already on my way. She said, "I'm sorry but we need to cancel. We can call you back later to reschedule." I thought this was unusual to have a dental appointment canceled 30 minutes before a confirmed appointment, not to mention the woman's tone. So I asked, may I know why the appointment needs to be canceled. She said "hold on" and placed me on hold. A completely different woman picks up and says "it shows here in our system that you refused service back in February 2024. And because of this you have been released for our practice l. The doctor not be able to treat you. You should have received a letter about this. Clearly I had not received any letter l, otherwise I would not have waisted my time contacting Cabrillo Family dental to schedule an appointment. I told the woman, at the time I was not ready to have the work done- which is my right. It was nothing personal agains Dr. Henspetter or the practice. I was confused how me choosing to defer dental work could get me cancelled from a dental practice. I went on to ask, considering l, how was I able to schedule and double confirm the appointment in the first place. She responded, " I don't know, you should have been removed for our system 2!years ago. Again very shocked and confused by the whole situation, asked if she would speak to the doctor. She said she would and would call me back. Instead, I received a text message. [see photo] UNPROFESSIONAL!! From the doctor who was so offended by a patient respectfully telling him "no" to a procedure to the woman who said "we'll call you later to reschedule." Knowing that I was no longer a patient at this practice. I've never had anything close to this type of experience dealing with any practice. Thankfully, this practice is not my/ your only option.

My experience with Rockaway Beach Dental's billing practices has been extremely disappointing and…read morefrankly unacceptable. In December 2024 I had a crown placed and paid roughly $500 out of pocket. I was told at the time that my insurance would cover the remaining balance. In December 2025 I received a bill from the office for $573. I called Rockaway Beach Dental on December 4, 2025 to ask why. During that call I was told that my insurance had denied the claim because the X-rays submitted by the office were invalid or incomplete. My insurance had requested additional X-rays from the dentist. The office told me they were working with my insurance to resolve the issue and specifically told me not to worry about the bill while they sorted it out. They also said they do not charge late fees, so I should wait until they had clarity from the insurance company. Three months later, in March 2026, I received a letter from a collection agency (Transworld Systems) demanding payment for the $573. When I called the office to ask why they sent this to collections after telling me to wait while they worked with my insurance, they claimed they had no record of my December 4th call. They also said they had sent additional X-rays to the insurance company but never heard back. Instead of following up with the insurance company again, contacting me so I could help resolve the issue with my insurance, or even notifying me that the balance was being sent to collections, they simply sent it to collections without any phone call or email. They also claimed they tried to contact me. I did not receive a single phone call, voicemail, or email from them about this. The only communication I ever received were invoices for the bill that I had previously been told to ignore until the insurance issue was resolved. The situation became even more ridiculous when I tried to resolve it. The dental office told me they could not recall the debt from the collection agency and that I needed to pay the collections agency directly. When I called the collections agency, they told me the exact opposite and said payment had to be made to the dentist. I then had to call the dental office back and provide my debit card information over the phone to pay the balance directly. This entire situation appears to have started because the office submitted incomplete or invalid X-rays to insurance, yet the burden was pushed entirely onto the patient. Being told not to worry about a bill and then having it sent to collections months later with no warning is unacceptable. Patients should not have to deal with this level of disorganization and lack of accountability. I strongly recommend documenting every interaction if you choose to work with this office.

Front desk was friendly, the dental office/equipment looked modern, and the dentists were efficient. Each procedure was explained and front desk helped with scheduling and often notifying for upcoming appointments. So the reason why I stopped going... I had a filling redone due to it coming off. However, I had pain around the same tooth for months. I couldn't eat on that side at all. I went back in for checkups to see if they can figure out what's going on. The head dentist told me to consider getting a crown since there seems to be a cracking on the tooth. They offered to cover the costs however I thought it was a bit extreme to get a crown from a routine filling. Over the next couple months, I would go back multiple times since the pain didn't go away. This included shaving part of the filling, redoing the filling, and trying to figure out my bite. And the final time I went there for a checkup, I was just told it could just be a neurological thing and almost made it sound like it was my fault and they can't do anything about it. The only reason why I kept going back was to give them the opportunity to fix what they had messed up. I ended up looking for another dentist and I told them my issue. They were able to figure what was wrong, and redid my filling. Now I have no pain.

When my partner and I finally mustered the courage to go to the dentist, we decided to walk into Fairmont dental and we did NOT regret that choice. I immediately noticed upon entering the office that Adriana was a very highly skilled office manager. She was multitasking as she enthusiastically greeted me and still made me feel welcome. Within minutes, she had my insurance entered and gave me the information that I needed to book an appointment. She was more than eager to help me. As someone with a business background, I can tell you that Adriana is one of the most valuable employees someone could have. Shout out to Adriana you're amazing! During my initial exam, it was found that I had several teeth that needed to work. Believe me when I say, I knew this, but had totally ignored it based on my history with the dentist and fear. I was very quickly put at ease by how kind the dentist was. On my next appointment when I was having work done, I was EXTREMELY and VISIBLY NERVOUS. I explained to the hygienist and the dentist, my fears and my previous bad experiences when I was younger, and they both comforted me and took their time and checked in on me frequently to make sure I was OK. THIS WAS EXACTLY THE KIND OF CORRECTIVE EXPERIENCE I NEEDED TO HAVE CONFIDENCE GOING TO THE DENTIST! I want to say thank you so much to everyone at Fairmont dentistry for taking such good care of me, being so friendly and kind, but also doing quality work. I will continue to return to this office and I would highly recommend that anyone who has hesitancy to have dental work done to come HERE! They will all take such great care of you.
