That's why when my friend decided to celebrate his birthday in Good Times Karaoke, I was super game. This has been scheduled and re-scheduled and re-scheduled, because back then, it was raining like the world was ending. It almost got cancelled at one point, but good thing, we found a day when the sky wasn't planning on drowning the metro for once that whole week. My friends and I are what you can call...an unconventional karaoke bunch. It's never not encouraged to make up your own version of songs. We've done opera, Pavarotti, rap, growl, and something as hella weird as a singing British news anchor. We also loved really unconventional karaoke songs, like The Lonely Island, whose songs amongst all the karaoke places I've been to over the years were only found here, at Center Stage, very unexpectedly. It was a super fun night singing (pardon my friench) songs with explicit content, among others (otherwise known as "songs nobody can understand and appreciate but me cause they're in a language other than English"). All in all, it was a break everyone very much needed, all thanks to Good Times's very awesome selection of songs! Oh, did I mention there was a humongous teddy bear sitting down outside in the couches?

I really need to start memorizing more songs. Sure, I've got some of my t-swift songs down pat (I…read moredon't care what you say I rock it) but my friends are starting to notice that I belt out the same tunes every time we do karaoke. I guess that's the problem when most of the music I listen to is either instrumental or unavailable, but it's getting quite worrying how my set list has shrunk over the years. Still, it's there's nothing quite like karaoke, and Good Times is a good place to break your lungs. They have large rooms that can accommodate a small baranggay, and their playlists are often updated. The food is somewhat lacking and the booze limited, but once you're out of breath there's a good chance you won't notice.

My friends have celebrated many a birthdays here, with a group of five, fifteen, twenty, and even a hundred! Indeed, that they have many different-sized rooms to cater to your needs is one of Centerstage's biggest draws. Another is its affordable packages. For around Php 2,500 to Php 3,500, you can already get drinks, food, and three hours of videoke in your own KTV room for five to 15 pax. Not bad! You may also avail of hourly rates for the KTV rooms if you prefer to choose your own drinks and food from their extensive menu. Hosting a party? Their Sala can fit up to 100 pax. Package starts at Php 35,000, inclusive of food, drinks, and videoke time. For the serious/aspiring videoke stars, Centerstage's playlist is extensive and updated! Their microphones are regularly cleaned and have sanitary covers that are changed per visitors. Rooms are also clean, though some may have lingering smells of food ordered by previous visitors. Some rooms are cold, some not too much. Their waiters are accommodating, though, so I'm sure you can work with them re: temperature adjustment. An important word of advice: Centerstage can get packed, especially during Friday and weekend nights, so best to reserve via telephone before you come. We made the mistake of forgetting to do this the last time we visited, and we ended up fifth on the waiting list. We had to wait for over an hour--went out to dinner first--before we finally got a room. By then, we were already a bit sleepy. But we still ended up staying over three hours! Our voices were hoarse and our throats itchy when we got home, but we had a blast!

The song choices are excellent too. Expect to find the greatest and the latest with just a click of the button. All the Spice Girls I want - and you want - are heeeeere!!
