I provided a negative review on eBay, and, upon discovering the seller has a brick-and-mortar business, felt compelled to do one on Yelp as well. If a timely refund had been made; without having to involve a third party, I wouldn't have taken the time to do the Yelp review. As background, I've been buying antiques, at auction, in person and on-line for 30 years. I've never had a situation come close to this one. I'll layout what happened in the transaction, and, provide the communications concerning the purchase. Everyone can reach their own conclusion on doing business with the company. January 10, 2021: I bought at auction, on eBay, an antique telescope for $107.50 and $21.20 shipping; there was no reserve on the item. Starting price was $100; there were two bids: $105 and mine at $107.50. I immediately paid $138.78, via PayPal, to Copeland Estate Sales, operating under the seller name, shelljer94. January 15, 2021: Message from seller via eBay messages: "Dear buyer, It is with extreme disappointment that I must inform you that my client, for whom I did this listing, is not allowing me to sell you this item for $107.xx He stated that he wanted a reserve of $350, which I told him was too much. And now, he has decided to not let me have the scope to ship to you. I dont know what else to do. I know you're going to give me negative feedback, which is totally understandable. My sincerest apologies. Sincerely, Jerry Copeland Memphis, TN" January 15, 2021: My message to the seller via eBay messages: "Jerry, This is the first time I have ever encountered this in ANY auction, eBay or live auction, that I've participated in. It's very disappointing. Yes, from what I could tell from a quick internet search $350 is likely too high. You are correct on the negative feedback; the reserve should have been confirmed before the listing and you should have had control of the item or better recourse with the owner of the item. Again, it's very disappointing. Thank you for letting me know." January 15, 2021: My follow up message to the seller via eBay messages, sent immediately after my first: "Have you processed the refund?" January 15, 2021: After no response, another follow up message to the seller via eBay messages, sent later in the day: "I'm following up on my prior note, has the refund been processed with PayPal?" January 19, 2021: After no response to my prior notes, follow up message to the seller via eBay messages: "Hello, I'm following up on if a credit has been initiated with PayPal? The transaction is still showing up as a purchase in my PayPal account. If I don't hear back or there's no indication of a credit with PayPal, by the end of the day tomorrow, Wednesday, January 20, I'll bring it up with eBay under their money back guarantee. It's preferable for us to resolve this between us. Thank you." January 19, 2021: Message from seller via eBay messages, received several hours after mine: "Well John, I have an estate sale business here in Memphis, and when I list items, I inform them that eBay auctions are final. This client asked to hold the items, and I told him that I don't do reserves. I got screwed and you got screwed, and I am aware of this. But it was not my fault, yet I suffer the consequences With negative feedback. But I'll try to get finalize your refund. But to nail me with negative feedback, isn't fair. I've been an Ebayer since since 2004. I'm only human. I'll get on it." January 21, 2021: After no sign of a refund, a follow up message to the seller via eBay messages: "May I get a status concerning the refund? Thank you." January 25, 2021: After no response to my prior notes, follow up message to the seller via eBay messages: "I still haven't seen a refund. If one has been made, please let me know. If a refund isn't received by January 27, it will be turned over to eBay to resolve." On January 27, eBay refunded the money under their money back guarantee. Message from eBay: "Hi John, Unfortunately, we didn't receive valid tracking information from the seller. We're sorry you had a problem with your purchase. We refunded US $138.78 to your original payment method, which includes item price, shipping, and tax. Please allow 48 hours for it to process." After January 19, there was no other communication received from the seller.

Lousy communication/does not return calls. Boorish, high-handed, unprofessional behavior throughout.There are many other companies in the area that treat customers with civility. This is "yahoo" culture at its worst. AVOID!
