Our children have been patients at two of the "top-rated" pediatricians as we've moved over the years--and this is the only practice where you're truly treated as a person, not just a number. If you're looking for speed and convenience, you can always go to an assembly-line pediatrician. But if you want a true care team--literally two doctors who will know your children by name, provide thoughtful and individualized treatment, and actually keep you informed--this is the place for you. When I first called, Anastasia let me know they're a smaller practice. So yes, I may wait on hold for a couple minutes while they're helping another patient--but I'll take that any day over the rushed, impersonal care we've experienced elsewhere. At the other offices, they'd order multiple bacterial infection tests based only on symptoms I described over the phone--without even seeing my children. That's not care--that's just billing insurance as quickly as possible. Sky Valley is the complete opposite. Here, they take the time to listen, assess thoughtfully, and treat your family like their own.

Then, I was billed for both visits separately--one as a re-establishment of care, and one as a physical. In reality, it felt like the same appointment split in two for billing purposes. This practice appears to be more focused on maximizing insurance billing than providing transparent, patient-centered care. I asked for an explanation but received no clear justification, just vague responses. This experience felt deceptive and unfair. I will not be returning, and I recommend others ask very specific questions about how their appointments will be categorized and billed to avoid being taken advantage of.

Two days later, the agonizing pain forced me to go to Patient First for emergency care. After a proper, thorough examination, the doctor there found that it was not a skin tag at all--it was a large, live tick that had been embedded in my neck for weeks. They removed it immediately.Because Abu Sheriff failed to perform a basic, careful examination, I carried a live tick for days longer than necessary. I have now officially tested positive and been diagnosed with Lyme disease as a direct result of this delayed removal and severe oversight.I have full medical documentation, photographs, and records from Patient First proving this negligence. This office is a major patient safety hazard. If you value your health, avoid this facility and this provider.

When I first went to him while I was in college, he told me just based on my symptoms I probably had a B vitamin deficiency. I sort of blew it off, thinking it was silly, until I ended up getting a load of blood testing done at a different doctor, and finding out...wait for it...I had a B vitamin deficiency! Dr. Kin seems very dry when you first meet him, but once you've been in a few times his wit and caring attitude take over. He makes his point about your health without making you feel bad. The thing I really like (besides his nurse Melinda) is that Dr. Kin will send you to a specialist when he sees that something in your bloodwork is not quite right. For me, this helped discover an autoimmune disease that left untreated could have put me in dire circumstances. I highly recommend Dr. Kin aand his staff as your next family physician!

This is my 4th UVA office, with 6 Drs. or Np's (some that quit / moved on), in an attempt to find…read morebasic primary care - sadly Piedmont was another fail. UVA has squashed the morale of every office I have been in - including this one. In my last appointment I appeared more of a bother than a patient. I was directed by Piedmont to get a lung X-Ray at a UVA imaging center. After multiple e mails to ask for results I finally received feedback after 20 days! Horrible response time and lack of details- "looks good but we should send you to a specialist". Contradicting eval. I asked for a shingles vaccine, and they did not have it. I spent numerous hours and e-mails in an attempt to get scripts refilled, and I went without diabetic meds for weeks. I never got them. Do not waste your time with any UVA operated offices. I went to INOVA and in one visit I felt welcome, the appointment was smooth, I got my shingles vaccine and learned about a pneumonia vaccine (and received it), and my scripts went through easily - all within 1 week. Not 20 days or weeks of e mails. I was fighting a cough for 4 months with UVA and no one ever mentioned a pneumonia vaccine. With diabetes I was worried that my cough (that has beat down 2 antibiotic treatments) might turn into pneumonia , but no one could not put it all together and work efficiently to provide me the care I was looking for. Simply astonishing. I just had blood drawn today at INOVA and all the results are in. Amazing response. UVA takes a few days to send it to the labs to get results - then when UVA finally gets to the results they will send it MyCHart. The only positive note I have with Piedmont is that the younger staff doing the vitals were outstanding, and I believe they just have not been around long enough to feel the UVA stress yet. Don't take my word for it - ask AI why UVA has poor healthcare service.
