I had a tooth abscess, my last molar failed, so no molars bottom left side of my mouth from injury. Dentist referred Dr Azghandi for implants, said "oh he's the best!". First appointment was to evaluate the pros/cons of removing the tooth, & if I decided yes we could remove it that day. Azghandi gave me a 1 minute explanation & said he'd let me decide.. meanwhile as I was considering the surgery, he was pacing back & forth and asking the dental assistant if I made my decision yet, clearly acting impatient with his prospective "patient". I decided to have my molar extracted and we started surgery right away. During surgery, I politely asked if that noise was him extracting the tooth, and he replied in a loud/condescending manor, "You don't need to know that!!".. I was a bit taken back by his rudeness & inability to communicate properly, surgery goes on, & he finally removes my tooth with lots of effort, my teeth have very long roots and prior tooth extractions were not fun (I've had all my wisdom teeth & the rear molars removed for braces, 8 teeth total pulled, then my rear molar cracked from a dentist filling and that rear left molar was removed, leaving my bottom left jaw with 1 last molar which he was removing that day.) He put a cadaver bone in to build up the bone line, had to do this twice because the first one was too small to fill the void. Next 2 days I had to take pain meds because they ran out that night, the third day/morning I called in the office to ask for a refill and I told them I just needed enough to get through the day because I was going to work in the field & was still in a lot of discomfort. They said I needed to come into the office & Azghandi wanted to see me, I told them it was not happening because I was on my way to a customer's house at 8:30am, & if he could just write a refill for a small amount to get me through the day, that is all I was looking for. They refused to do so and left me hanging in pain all day, I took 2 Tylenol extra strength and was STILL feeling an aching/throbbing in my jaw and was working in discomforting pain the whole day. Fast forward to the 1 month follow up visit, I confirmed the appointment about 3 times for 11:30am, I arrived at 11:28am, and the office assistant said "Oh well the Dr. is about to go into surgery, we didn't think you were coming for your appointment", I said I confirmed my appointment with you multiple times, why would you make me take time off of work for this appointment just to go do surgery on someone else, complete disrespect to me & my time. She ended up getting Azghandi to stop prepping for his surgery and he saw me, literally took 1 minute for him to look in my mouth & say "everything looks fine, see you in a few more months." So I go to check out and ask about the next appointment, and she tells me that my 1 implant could get scheduled in May, and I said No, it's 2 implants that I need, not one (I had no molars bottom left jaw but 2 molars top left jaw), like WTF, what doctor would give you a half-assed solution? I told her to get the doc so I can talk to him, she hesitated, delayed a few minutes then got up and checked on the dr. and then came back and told me he was in surgery and couldn't see me, and that I needed to reschedule, and had the audacity to tell me and straight up lie to me that I was late to my appointment and that somehow I was to blame for their incompetence. I was furious, these people screwed me over and had no remorse and tried blaming me for their incompetence, what professional does that?? I had to walk away from this complete waste of time and absolute terrible business practice, looked at my phone and it was 11:47am as I walked down the long hallway. I've since contacted another periodontist who completed a full assessment & even found I needed a gum graft very soon for 1 tooth!

I actually have a regular dentist but I decided to go to Highland Dental because I wanted a second opinion about a root canal. I already knew about them because my sons go here, and we always have a good experience. They were able to see me the same day I called, which I really appreciated because I was in a decent amount of pain. I saw Dr. Khanna and she is probably the gentlest dentist I have ever encountered. She was knowledgeable and kind, and explained everything in a detailed way. In the end she found no specific cause for my tooth pain, but she recommended several possible solutions which I tried, and the pain has stopped. She also referred me out to a specialist to make sure there was no tooth fracture, rather than just opting to do a root canal. I appreciated the timely and honest care that I received from Dr. Khanna. Thank you!

I had a tooth extracted, and Dr. Sreeni and his support staff walked and talked me through the whole process. I was terrified and they explained every step of the way and even gave encouragement. Later that evening, Dr. Sreeni took the time to call to check in to see how I was recovering. I've never had such a warm and thoroughly explicated visit to a dentist office. The two persons working the front desk were also kind and efficient and took the time to explain the pricing to me. Insurance covered all but my copay and all was transparent.

During that process, I had concerns regarding the lack of clear communication about my crown procedure, specifically how many appointments would be required. I voiced those concerns to my VA Community Care Coordinator at Total Dental Care. Despite my initial experience, I chose to give the clinic another opportunity and attempted to return for care in August. I was extremely disappointed to learn that the clinic would no longer see me as a patient, apparently because I had previously expressed concerns about my treatment experience. To be clear, I was never rude, disrespectful, or verbally abusive. I simply advocated for myself as a patient and expressed that the process and number of appointments had not been clearly communicated to me. In all my years receiving dental care, both as a veteran and as a civilian, I have never been refused future care because I respectfully raised a concern about communication. What was equally disappointing was that I was never provided written notification that the practice had decided not to see me again. I only learned this when attempting to obtain additional care. If a practice decides to terminate its relationship with a patient, I believe the professional and courteous thing to do is communicate that decision directly to the patient rather than allowing them to discover it later. I will be sharing my experience with VA Community Care because veterans referred to community providers should feel comfortable asking questions and respectfully expressing concerns about their care without worrying that doing so will result in them no longer being welcomed as a patient. Unfortunately, this experience made it very clear that I am no longer welcomed at this facility, and I will seek my dental care elsewhere.

But Dr. James and the entire team were amazing--friendly, professional, and so calming. ARI did my cleaning and was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. Finally, here comes my first Yelp review and Dr. August totally deserves it…read more Thanks to excellent reviews from fellow Yelpers, I finally overcame my fear for dentists and visited this office. First off, the front staff are very professional and friendly. I signed in and waited for about 20 minutes (which is way shorter than when I visit my obgyn) and finally met Dr. August who is super friendly and very professional. My anxiety was immediately gone. He apologized profusely for the wait and explained that they were understaffed that day. I honestly didn't mind the wait at all, like I said, I have seen worse. He quickly assessed the situation and gave me his recommendation, and a follow up appointment was scheduled. I left the office a happy gal. My second appointment was a 2-hr, and as soon as I stepped in the office, I was let in and the process began. I was overall very happy with my experience in this office. Professional, friendly, and above all completely painless! I even got a 'welcome' letter sent to my home a week after I visited them. Definitely a 5-star service!
