Wings are great. For some reason the person taking the order couldn't tell me how many wings came in one order. I thought that was odd. We received 18 wings for $45. In case anyone is ever curious before ordering. Crispy and tasty wings.

Where do you go late night on a Tuesday to grub after a concert? Utopia that's where. Besides it being open till the crack of dawn the food is legit asian dishes served w a side of karoke and Keno. There's two dining areas to choose from. Main entrance let's ya in bar side along w lotto and small tables. The other side has bigger tables and singing if your desires :) Order up: shaken beef, fish sauce wings, pepper salted squid and Bun Rieu soup. Dishes were tasty and staff was sweet. Might have to make this a weekday go to.

It was cold and we wanted noodles with soup. We picked this restaurant without looking at the detailed menu. All we could think of is "pho".  Small parking lot with dim light -- saw broken glass on the ground Restaurant is connected to a small casino next door. No one in the restaurant greets you since the host / waitress on the other side (casino). Hardly anyone was eating there. Basically, waiting for someone to show up the whole time.  Menu on the TV screen. I am guessing the dish in the Red font is their specialty. This place doesn't have "PHO".  #13 Chicken wing --- is really good #16 Hot pot  for 2 people -- noodle, shrimp, squid and mussels, veggies.. Is okay but is not enough for 2 #8 House special fried rice --- is okay  #19 Bun Bo Hue -- spicy beef noodle soup with beef and pork shank -- is below average. We only take few bites #29 Pepper and salted squid -- is really bad. Is crunchy but all you eat is breading.

i came here with a group of friends for dinner and drinks. this place is super spacious and has a casual lounge vibe to it. i heard they have karaoke as well, and i would definitely like the participate if i ever come back! i ordered the #3 which was a rice dish. the meat was tender and super juicy. the egg was fried to perfection and the pickled vegetables balanced out the flavors super well. i also tried my boyfriend's vermicelli noodles and it was a big hearty bowl of deliciousness. the drinks are "dangerous" if you know what i mean the service was super fast. our waiter was super kind and attentive. i really enjoyed my time here and cannot recommend this place enough!

What a hidden gem of delicious Vietnamese food! Came here after a delayed flight at 9pm and this is the first spot we hit up during our trip in Portland. It was nice and quiet on a Thursday night. The place is nothing fancy but it's clean. Tried the Diced Beef Stir-fried in Wine Sauce with Onion and Vegetables and the Deep-fried Chicken Wings with Fish Sauce, Garlic, and Chilies. It was the best late night food! The food was super flavorful and served hot.

After a long snowy adventure, decided to meet some friends here for a late dinner. I'm from California and continue to reside there so my opinion is going to be different than most residents in Portland. The food wasn't bad and I liked that it's open late. There is a bar area then you walk to the back where it's all tables. Apparently you can karaoke there too. For the food... Salt and pepper squid: 3/5 crispy, but could use more flavoring . Bun bo hue: 3/5 flavor is ok and satisfies your craving Wings: 4/5: the best thing there possibly because it's really flavorful Fried rice: 2/5 it was ok. Shaking beef: 3/5 portion was kinda small, but flavor wasn't too bad. Overall staff is nice and I give them respect for working hard. Definitely a go-to place if you got the munchies.

Utopia is always a good idea to continue a night out as they are one of the few that stay open late after bars have closed. I have even been on a week day for dinner and it was still a good idea! The 14. lẩu bún bò huế (spicy soup with beef and pork shanks) and 29. mực rang muối (pepper & salted squid) are a must at every visit! Only get the lẩu bún bò huế if there are multiple people that are willing to share because it's way too much for one person. Another notable dish is the 17. bò tái chanh (raw beef mixed with lemon juice), I have yet to see it served anywhere else. I've also had the 11. bò lúc lắc (diced beef stir-fried in wine sauce with onion & vegetables), 13. cánh gà chiên nước mắm (deep fried chicken wings with fish sauce, garlic & chilies), and 8. cơm chiên thập cẩm (house special fried rice) numerous times. I did not like the 20. bún riêu (ground crab meat rice noodle soup) but it's not a dish I usually like anyways so take my opinion here with a grain of salt. The back space with karaoke has been remodeled so it looks really nice! Seating has never been a problem for me as there are always plenty of tables open regardless of party size.

When we first walked in, we were confused and thought the front part was the whole restaurant! The front part is for the bar and the gambling machines. They have a separate seating area for dining. It's nicely decorated and spacious for groups. They give large portions of food for reasonable prices. The waitress didn't speak much English but was very attentive and hardworking.

My go-to for late night meals, they close around 2am! We always order our go-to dishes, the bo luc lac(steak cubes, we ask for med. Rare, as sometimes its too well done for our liking) and the chicken wings. We also love getting the big pot of bun bo hue to share, its pretty good! The salt/pepper squid is good too! Also, the "raw beef" dish(what i call it), its so flavorful with the sauces.

How have I been living in Portland and not known that Sandy Jug Tavern is serving up one of the best burgers in town? We swung by on a very busy Christmas Eve and were immediately hit with that perfect, cozy tavern glow. If you haven't been, the vibe is pure "Old Portland"--historic, unpretentious, and effortlessly cool. We managed to snag a spot near the bar, which was the perfect vantage point to watch the holiday chaos while sipping on our Christmas Old Fashioneds. Our trio went all in: a Juicy Lucy, a Chopped Cheese, and a BLT. I tried to play it safe and go the "healthy" route with the BLT--which was fresh and crisp--but the Juicy Lucy absolutely stole the show! As a group of self-proclaimed burger connoisseurs, we were floored. We're talking a thick, hand-pressed patty stuffed with molten American cheese that literally oozes with every bite. PRO TIP: Exercise some holiday restraint and let it sit for a minute so you don't incinerate your tongue on that delicious cheese lava! Not to be outdone, the Chopped Cheese was a gritty, glorious masterpiece--the perfect NYC-style love child of a cheeseburger and a Philly cheesesteak. Between the historic "Jug" setting, the friendly holiday service, and the cheese-stuffed heaven on a plate, our bellies left very, very happy. This isn't just a meal; it's a PDX rite of passage. We will definitely be back!

One thing that bothered me though (and I know maybe I'll get hate for this), is I feel like some of the decor is tone deaf. They have a bunch of colonial men ceramic decor, but they partner with and serve food from a Filipino company. I'm Filipino and it was a bit offensive to me because even if the point of having them is trying to make fun of them, it's not really funny. We were colonized for over 300 yrs and still deal with the trauma from it. Please consider removing the colonial decor. I really enjoyed the bar and want to enjoy it in the future, but I don't think it's necessary to have those things in the bar and doesn't add anything to how cool the bar is apart from that. UPDATE: the bar messaged me. They were super professional and kind in their response. I really appreciate that they were open to my perspective on the colonial items and said they will be removed. Thank you so much!! Looking forward to enjoying the bar in the future

In fact, the very first time we went to that location, it was called 'Sir Loins'! His grandparents used to take us there, and after Sir Loins, we went back once, but were not happy with their steak. Years later, we'll give them another chance. Hubby ordered a glass of Merlot, and said it was excellent. For his meal, he ordered the Surf and Turf, which was an 8 ounce sirloin steak and large fried shrimp. As his side, he ordered the loaded baked potato. A green salad was also ordered. We were quite frankly blown away by the food. The steak was cooked exactly as requested and was as tender as could be. The potato was hot and loaded, and came with additional butter, sour cream and green onions to add on. Toasted cheese bread was on the plate. The salad with ranch dressing was just fine too. All that for a very reasonable price. Service was quick and friendly. The vibe of the pub was friendly as well. I got Rueben Sandwich with fries. We shared the salad, above. The sauerkraut with my Rueben was far more better than one I had recently! Half of everything, was set for another meal.

It's still a cash-only bar, but the place has started to take on a Cheers-esque vibe, where everybody knows your name...and each other's, as well. There's a regular crowd of quirky characters from all walks of life who, like stray cats returning to the house that feeds them, can be found here at almost any given hour of the day, and usually hanging out with one another, in some configuration. Drinks remain cheap, and strong, and the bar is much better stocked: even some uncommon cocktails that you can't get at other bars can be mixed up here, such as my favorite, the Rusty Nail (using Drambuie, which few bars seem to stock), so even old curmudgeons like myself can be accommodated. In short, Tony's is a neighborhood bar that has finally started feeling like one, and that's a welcome change. I'm told there are plans for renovations and new features coming in the foreseeable future, which will hopefully will be well-received, and bring in new faces, to join the ragtag band of scoundrels (myself included) that have begun to call this place home.
