Hello gun owner enthusiasts,
I like many bought into the hype of the UTAS XTR-12 gauge shotgun. I have to tell you to look at this thing makes you have to have one.
Unfortunately I should have did more research on the reliability of the shotgun.
I purchased this firearm on February 10, 2018 from Fort Meade Main PX Gun Department, which you have to sign a disclaimer to deal with the manufacture for any defects or service repairs after purchase. Well, in March 2018, I notice black powder on my hands and new something was wrong with the weapon. The gas tube cylinder cracked and cause the gas to escape. I contact UTAS-USA and spoke with Steve the Sales/Service manager. Who during this first encounter appeared helpful and my weapon was returned within two weeks.
However, I encountered the same issue after being assured this was corrected. I sent my XTR-12 back for a second time, where I question why I purchased this weapon in the first place. I contacted Steve at UTAS after two weeks and asked him the status of my UTAS XTR and he stated it was repaired and is being sent out. Two week went by and I never received my UTAS XTR and I called Steve at UTAS and he gave me I don't remember BS and the standard "We will contact you once your UTAS XTR is repaired.
Well, it's been over a month now and due to this shotgun being a product of Turkey, the parts are not actually made in America according to UTAS, Kyle Burton the Vice President of Sales and to add more complexity to the issue they state they changed parts distributors. To date, I have not received an ETA for my repair other than we are waiting for parts. They don't know when they are going to get the part, they act as if they are clueless, but have the audacity to have the below mission and vision for their company. Based on the technology to communicate via video or chat, email etc., there is no understandable reason why they do not have an ETA on the parts.
Kyle Burton stated that someone from his office went over to Turkey to find out when the parts will be received and he stated he would contact me once he talked to him, but I guess his email was broken or perhaps he was washing his hair on vacation again and Steve the clueless said I can't speak intelligently unless Kyle permits me to.
Never the less, they are not meeting any of the statements on their site. In conclusion, if you are thinking of buying a UTAS XTR, DO NOT! Unless they do a recall of every UTAS XTR that was manufactured with the faulty gas cylinder, EVERY one who purchases a UTAS XTR will have to return it to UTAS USA and your XTR will be held hostage until Steve the clueless understand he as a mission and visions statement to uphold and provide service to the customers who keep UTAS in business.
Again Do Not purchase this product or you will be stuck as my brother is who just bought his UTAS XTR in October of 2018 and shot it 10 times and he had to send it back just to have Steve the clueless give him the same status quo statement. "We will contact you when your firearm is repaired." However, that may be two weeks or 6 months or a year since NO ONE is running the Ship! Their parent company in Turkey will not respond to your email and this leave you frustrated as a customer, so I take it to the web to inform others of this product and not to purchase it until the issue is resolved. I've asked for a full refund, let's see if it's honored by the UTAS.
