Once in a while though, well, I've had to go in and it's slower than molasses there. In fact, if I have an errand to run at the post office, if I am able to, I avoid going to this location. I've had never had an issue with them, and they're fortunately open on Saturdays, but I just don't understand how they typically have only one person working there and a turtle goes faster than said person.

We were told that the worker called in and cannot be there. So no passport service. They told us to come back on Monday between 9 and 4. We went back on Monday. The passport worker told us that she took enough walk-ins and could not take anymore. Totally wasted time and gas to go there 2 times with no help from them at all!!

Offering coverage during most people's lunch break is also important! Shifting it away from noon allows customers to accomplish their mailing errand on their own midday break. Hesitate to give a fifth star because I have noticed on some occasions the office did not open on time when there were people waiting (at least once each in the morning & after the lunch break).

Always plenty of room in the parking lot. Easy in and out if you are headed north on US 27/N Monroe. Little more work to get in and back out if you are heading into town. We have always had good service when we have had to go inside to buy stamps or mail a package. Like any post office, it depends on the time of day, day of the week, time of the month or time of the year whether you will have to stand in line or just breeze in, take care of your business and breeze back out.

Tuesday we had another successful election even with a strong thunderstorm that knocked out power for a little bit and blew over the tent covering the curbside drop off for absentee/mail-in ballots. Heck, one precinct even had to briefly deal with a naked man in front of the precinct. I know y'all all saw that "Florida man" story. 67% of us voting by mail and early voting probably helped Tuesday be mostly uneventful. Supervisor of Elections is normally a job for as long as you want it as long as you don't mess up. Wilma Sullivan was Supervisor for forever when I was younger. Her son worked for years with her and probably would have been the next Supervisor because of his experience but evidently they didn't trust the electorate to pick the most experienced candidate so on the last day of qualifying Wilma announced her retirement and her son became the only candidate to qualify before the deadline. That caused quite an uproar so a write in candidate won the job. He didn't avoid messing up so Ion Sancho got the job and kept things smooth for many years right past the 2000 Florida election debacle. He did such a good job that he became something of an election expert on the national level. Mark Earley, the most experienced employee in Ion's office, won the election after Ion's retirement and has kept things running smooth since. I suspect he will be in the job as long as he wants it.

Because of tragic events (plane crash) in the UPS network routed through Louisville, KY, my shipment was delayed for days and I knew I would miss the original home delivery window due to pre-planned travel. UPS customer service had pre-cleared a hold for my package at a local UPS location and confidently guaranteed that it would be held there until I returned from a trip. When I woke up this morning, I found that the package was suddenly marked as "returning to sender." This is not an ordinary package. It contains wine worth several thousand dollars and it is perishable in heat and during additional transit. When I called the UPS Store on Mahan, they were completely nonchalant. The young woman who answered and the gentleman she was working with refused to even look up my tracking number. They repeatedly told me there was nothing they could do and would not take the simple step of checking whether the package was still there so that I could send someone to pick it up on my behalf. To make matters worse, UPS customer service specifically directed me to work with this local store to resolve the issue and hold the package. The store simply refused to help at all. No effort to problem solve, no empathy for the situation, and no interest in protecting an expensive and time sensitive shipment. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the lack of basic customer service and unwillingness to even pull up a tracking number at this location was unacceptable.
