I have to say that I agree with all the negative reviews on this post office location. I used to have pretty good experiences here but the older woman helping today was just miserable. I couldn't hear her through her mask and she got annoyed when she had to repeat herself but I didn't hear that she was asking me a question of how I wanted my package shipped. I apologized that I couldn't hear her and then asked for stamps but she ignored me and went back to her script and then asked if I needed anything.... Yes some stamps, please! I don't usually buy stamps - I'm a millennial, I pay almost all my bills online but needed some to have on hand. I go here because it's convenient but the downtown Fairfield location is much friendlier! read more

I just walked in to the USPS to Priority Mail a small package and forgot the tape to affix the label. I ship on a weekly basis and have only not had tape once before. The kind woman behind the desk offered me some tape to put it on. A rude Asian lady bound over and ripped it away and said "no, you want tape? Use scotch". There is no way this would be an approved method by the federal post office to mail ANYTHING. Both of the other women behind the desks had apologetic looks on their faces but you could tell this was a superior. Hmmm, not a traditional local business. How do you notify anyone about this unacceptable behavior? Love our tax dollars at work. read more

We just had a great experience at the Southport post office. They took us as a walk in for a new passport, despite being very busy. They were polite, professional, and quick! read more

I never leave any reviews but I feel like I need to after what happened today. I'm waiting in line like everyone else outside the main office as we are allowed only 3 people maximum inside. When it's my time to go inside, someone calls me on my phone for an emergency. While the person on the other line is trying to explain to me the situation, I had to cut him off and told him I'll call later as I'm at the post office. The duration of the call was maybe 30s. While I'm turning off my phone, an older lady comes in, cuts the line and just goes in front of me. While I am respectful of everyone, I do not understand why certain people think it's ok to just cut and go in front of other people. I think it's rude regardless of how old you are. I told the lady that I didn't understand why she cut me off and she turned around, told me I was on the phone and told me to F myself. I'm leaving this review because I'm mad at the USPS office staff who took side with the rude customer when she didn't know the whole situation. And when it was my turn to be served, I said to her: I think it's very rude what the lady did. And it doesn't matter if she's older. Everyone has to wait in line. But she replied to me: oh! You shouldn't be on the phone in the first place. Wow! I was on the phone for 30s if that and turned off my phone ASAP. I don't think it was right to take side when you don't know the situation. I'm very upset because for the first time, I said something as I didn't think it was right. read more

I drive 15-20 minutes to avoid this post office. Most workeds (to be fair 1 worker seems great but I was about 1/10 times getting her) are slow and VERY very difficult to deal with. They make an easy process incredibly arduous. read more

Where is the camera? Is this a "what would you do" episode? Sadly.. no! The employee, a woman, grey hair in ponytail and an 'F you' attitude has been treating customers at the Southport location, depending on her demeanor of the day, with open disdain and surliness. I have been both witness to and on the receiving end of her nastiness over the years. I avoid this office when I can. Recently, I went to process my Son's passport renewal. I was told they weren't doing walk-Ins that day and to go elsewhere. I asked why and was told the website was wrong! They don't do it. When I asked to speak with the PostMaster for clarification, I was told... 'she's on vacation' When I asked for said Postmasters name, I was told ... 'don't know it!' I asked again...response was ...'Lily something!' I asked again and she finally gave it to me. I then asked said employee for her last name. (full name not displayed on her name badge, as was her fellow employee) She refused...then shouted... 'I'm not giving you my name! do you want me to call 911, you are harassing me'. This incident has since been reported! On discussing this experience with a USPS employee at a neighboring branch I was shocked to hear that they 'get this feedback all the time' about the Southport office. I am beyond bewildered why USPS has tolerated this conduct for so long. Shame on you USPS. read more

I agree with one of the other posters here regarding the tape incident as it refers to the same person I had an issue with-- the manager-- who said extremely discriminatory and racist remarks here. I reported her and am awaiting to hear back that there have been disciplinary actions taken. This branch is the worst that I have been to and I told everyone to never visit here. They need new staff to give this place a chance to thrive in the Southport community. read more

I went in looking to ship a return and wasn't sure what the cheapest method was. The person at the desk, I believe his name was Michael was very helpful. Ups quoted my package at $30 and I thought I would try the post office. I was able to ship my package for under $8 all thanks to the help of the staff. read more

I have been to this post office twice during the holidays and find the staff to be absolutely miserable. Loud, tense, snippy with customers, and openly negative. An older woman needed help with her card but the employee just repeated "put in the chip" several times until another customer had the heart to actually help. Why are these employees allowed to be so awful and remain employed? read more

Horrible service and rude! Never go there! Not helpful at all! Worst Post office I've ever been to!

Went in to mail a small bubble mailer and needed a label. She said they had none, so I said I'll just fold over the priority label they have and use that. She said if I do that she would have to charge me Priority! Offered to SELL me one though. So I walked out disgusted. That's why the PO is losing $10 billion a year with inept and rude personnel on their payroll. Only wish I could give zero stars. This "event" happened 9/12/20 @ 11 AM Southport CT Post Office read more

This PO is despicable. How do I ask .49/.50 cents for a stamp, and have the unmitigated gaul not to have a working phone. I have been trying to get through to them for 4 hours, and it is a constant busy signal. I tried to call the Fairfield PO on Commerce Drive to have them check the line. I was gleeful that the line was even ringing, but to my dismay, after about 10 rings, the message came on "Memory is full." As for the woman who runs it, she is the least acommodating person I have ever spoken to and rude, rude, rude. What in heaven's name is going on! No wonder people hate the PO. read more

this is probably one of the worst USPS i've been to. terrible service and grumpy staffs. if it's not because of convenience i would never come here. you are better off driving a bit to a nearby one. if you have high blood pressure i would avoid this branch at all cost read more

I have found the staff to be wonderfully friendly...but then I am friendly with them and have made an effort to get to know them. Like all people doing difficult jobs, they respond much better to kindness than ugly criticism read more
