I dropped a manila envelope off at the Prairie City, Oregon post office. I was just passing through…read moretown on my way deer hunting. I personally handed the envelope to the postmaster Mrs Davis. I didn't think to get a receipt cause I have never had issues with my packages. Well, what I mailed was a $250 dollar pokemon card I had sold. She never scanned the package into the system. The package was stolen. I filed a report to get reimbursed but was told the package didn't qualify due to they never received it! I personally handed it to Mrs Davis. I emailed her all I got from her was I looked and your envelope isnt here. She told me sometimes she forgets to scan the packages into the system. We'll her mistake cost me $250 bucks. I see online other people have had the same issues with this post office. I believe she stole my package. I filed a complaint with customer service and the USPIS. I also filed a police report with the sheriff's office. Prairie City post office has a thief working there.

We have so many problems sending mail. Last time I checked with the Post Master (Brian S Moore) he…read moretold me not to email him anymore and I should consider myself lucky to have the phone number. We cannot get answers to missing packages, there seems to be a delay longer than should be in delivering First Class Mail. We have one mail person who stops and is attentive and she's the substitute and the other is not so much. If I file a complaint online about service or lost package I never get a response and the 1800 line is impossible to get through. Is it just me or should a manager at a Post Office who is getting substantial business from us not care enough to help us? I have called a regional number and asked for a regional supervisor to call but no one cares. If you can, consider Fedex.

I have never dealt with a postal "service" as incompetent as I have experienced today. You'd think…read moreUSPS would make more of an effort to value their customers like FedEx or UPS. When I first tried to call this location, their line was busy. Not the "sorry for the inconvenience, but our clerks are currently servicing a different customer" kind of busy, but the "we're not going to answer your phone call, so we're leaving the phone off the hook all day" kind of busy. I had to track down a back-door number from a friend, and when I did finally get ahold of someone, they couldn't help me because I don't have a tracking number. Now whenever I use UPS or FedEx, I can get the delivery tracked by using my address. So just in case you were wondering why usps is losing business, you have your answer.

I would like to clarify some things in Mike's review. I understand your frustration in not being…read moreable to get through to someone at the Haines Post Office. Maybe you are not aware that this is a very small location and is a one person show. The office is only open 6 hours M-F and closes for one hour each day for lunch. The employee who works there is in no way incompetent and is liked by all the customers. There is no "back-door" number to this office. So, think about it, one employee providing service to customers at the retail counter and by phone in a small town that has provided the best service I have ever experienced in a rural town, might have actually been busy. I would be curious as to how and where you get your USPS financial info from, last time I heard they were taking business from UPS and Fed-Ex and outperformed them again last year. And yes it can be frustrating that the USPS only tracks packages with a "Tracking Number", but that is why they tell you to hang on to your receipt, and is one of the many reasons they are cheaper and provide better, timely service than their competitors.

There were two employees working the long line and a third helping folks that were in line for mail pick up only. Since employee number three was helping almost nobody it would have been nice if he would have helped out with everyone else and thus putting a dent in the line. In all a supremely ordinary experience. Just once it would be cool to have swift service at the post office. Dare to dream, right? Don't laugh at me.

Do I love pain? Well no. But am I a masochist? Perhaps. Anyone who would go back to the post office…read moreafter the experience I shared with all of you a mere 6 reviews ago should at least read over the symptoms: 1. The condition in which gratification depends on suffering, physical pain, and humiliation. 2.Gratification gained from pain, deprivation, degradation, etc., inflicted or imposed on oneself, either as a result of one's own actions or the actions of others, esp. the tendency to seek this form of gratification. 3.The tendency to find pleasure in self-denial, submissiveness, etc. Ok, I'm definitely in the clear. However, as abusive and ungratifying as my relationship with the post office is, I need it. And it knows I need it....which makes the whole thing, well, rather masochistic. So let's get on with it. Today - 10:27am. I timidly walk in...knowing that after my last torturous experience, I'll most likely leave with a shaved head and a missing finger...you know...to follow USPS protocol. I am greeted warmly by two employees. I tense up and I adorn my fighting stance......wait......WHAT? "Um, good morning to you too?" I'm thrown off...but the hairs on the back of my neck are still screaming "don't buy it Laura...it's a diversion!" Not willing to submit, I begin to tape up my package...and one of my adversaries started approaching from the right. Preparing a swift upper cut to the baby maker, I assessed the situation...but he had an unknown object in his left hand...a weapon...a....a....an address label?!? "Here," he said genuinely, "I brought you a label so you don't have to write directly on the package." He must be kidding. right? "Oh, and next time I can tape that up for you...unless you usually keep duct tape in that little purse of yours." Wait. Is hottie postman FLIRTING with me? Or is he just into the fact that I'm clearly a masochist because I frequent the post office and carry duct tape in my purse? We'll leave that for another review. But to tidy this one up, the post office on 24th and NW Savier is clearly the bomb diggity. (Am I allowed to say bomb and post office in the same sentence? Twice?) I was in and out in less than 3 minutes, the employees were friendly, helpful, and ahem...attractive, and I dig the abundant parking sitch. Much like a great doctor, I'm not eager to go back right away, but it's great to know that I have this solid option the next time I'm in need.
