By far the worst place I've ever dealt with from the bottom of my heart I truly believe they need a…read morenew manager and employees all together! From moving out here to having a PO Box for over 6 months now every time I have came in the women have been nothing but rude. If you walk in at 457 they turn you away like your trash. I have a family i want to go home to and need to support too so remember that the next time someone rushes in to send a package last minute. Karma will always bite you back harder and it's always better to be kind and to stop and think to show respect to your customers which I and I have seen plenty of others not receive while being at this Postal Office. So when ANYONE steps foot into this place I highly recommend just traveling down the street to the next one and I'm switching my PO BOX to that as well due to the lack of common courtesy and respect from even the postmaster. I have NEVER in my life ever been to such a shitty post office I'm glad to be moving and wish you all better help in the future to guide you in the right direction of how to interact with customers the professional proper way you were all trained to do and be! But I don't really care about the exterior appearance anyway. It's really about what goes on inside. Here, you'll see that the staff do take some pride in the place. There are glass-enclosed bulletin boards with various items of interest, local history and otherwise, for you to peruse while waiting on line. (I especially like the inclusion of the Van Gogh "Postman" - took me right back to Arles, if for only a very brief moment.) And you might indeed be waiting on line, especially if you show up at 11:00 AM - when they close for lunch for an hour. You'll have plenty of time to view the "Local History" bulletin board, too. You'll learn that they had something called Lutherland closeby. You'll actually have enough time waiting to commit the entire contents of the bulletin board to memory, if you wish. Naturally these little rural-area outposts have their own customs and practices, which might seem quite mysterious to an outsider. I was the first customer in line when the lunch break was over, but when I inadvertently presented my Deputy Yelper's PO box key along with the parcel notice card (perhaps not yet having entirely returned mentally from Arles) for the parcel I had been sent to pick up, the staff person barked at me (yes, as though I'm a delinquent child, to borrow from another review here), "So what do you want me to do with THAT?" So I quickly apologized for my goof, and as the clerk disappeared in the back, I turned to the other customers and asked, "Are they always so courteous here?" To which some guy (obviously resenting it that an out-of-towner managed to get in front of him for the noon-time re-opening) barked, "Didn't seem rude to ME!" As I said, they have their own customs and practices known only to the regulars. But the sought-after parcel was promptly presented to me, and as I left, tucking the package under my arm, I could only think of how Van Gogh's Postman Joseph Roulin must have carried his parcels in just that same way.

They will always be happy to refuse your mail if you don't have a PO BOX (but a legal address). It's a shame that in what is primarily a vacation community that does not have mail to house delivery (and you're guaranteed an included PO box) you will be subject to harassment and condescending attitude by the postmaster and his staff. If you manage to jump through the hoops to actually get the included PO Box you'll be threatened that if you do not check it 2x per week it will be delisted and you will be charged. Does it matter that you don't expect to get much mail? Yes - because, as the postmaster claims, he must dutifully stuff your PO Box with the junk mail that he gets regularly. While I understand he must deliver the mail he is given, it's definitely used as more of an excuse to NOT give you a box (or discourage you from having one). It's too bad because the Poconos are wonderful and pleasant except for this sad, miserly exception of an establishment. I wish I could redirect tax dollars to someone who wasn't a misanthrope.

We were lucky to get the correct mail if we got any mail at all! Poor Bob didn't know much about anything Postal related, but you are only good as your trained! Funny Neil got paid to ride his bike around Lake Harmony because the office was rarely opened back up at 1:00 when he worked! Thank God April took over & cleaned it out & organized it to the way we all remembered it. Christine came back to help run it like it used to be ran when she worked here with Postmaster Jack Pickle years ago. It is not only kept clean but well stocked & organized also. These two women know their jobs. They are pleasant & friendly to talk to. If you have a question, they will answer you & also give options on other ways a letter or package can be sent if you ask. These two are a breath of fresh air, after all the years of ones who didn't care or show up on time to work! It's a joy to be back fulltime in Lake Harmony now that we are retired! It's a medium-larger sized box, but not heavy. So it's not easy to misplace. And it's not too heavy to not want to deal with. So I'm not really sure what the issue is? But USPS customer support says it isn't lost. Even though I contracted out for the post office before and I know the "in transit to next facility" updates are automatic when they lack a scan. Not sure how the people are because I don't live here. People are probably good but the USPS system and way it's set up for employees and customers isn't great. DHL stated they dropped a package at this location for for me to pick up, stated they didn't have it. Worker didn't even get off a personal call to look for my package. Then my mail was delivered after snow storm and mailbox was clear. A day later mail wasn't delivered and said undeliverable because wasn't clear. That appernetly was a lie. Girlfriend saw them drive fast right by house that day not even attempting to stop. Maybe they were late and they can use this as an excuse. Then picked up package (second attempt) and I told the worker there was no reason it should have been undeliverable. Normal excuse from them is a different contractor was working that day. That is not an excuse.

Avoid this place. Yesterday I took a package to be returned and was told I had to take it out of…read morethe box. I asked them to keep and recycle the box. They told me no. I made a joke about what would happen if I left it on the counter - would they chase me into the parking lot? The owner and staff became very aggressive after that and the experience deteriorated fast. First, the staffer didn't scan all my returns and kept insisting something was missing. Even though I told her she was wrong, she wouldn't check the items herself. I had to reach over the counter and show her that there were 3 items, not 2. No apology for her mistake. Then I stood waiting politely for my receipt. And waiting. The owner then slapped it on my box, which I found incredibly rude. I tore it off because I did not want to have to keep the box as my receipt. I wanted to recycle it. I told him he had no business putting something on my box. He said "that's how we do it here." Yeah, right. I told him to pretend I didn't have a box and give me a receipt. Then he handed me a receipt without a backing, so I was holding a sticky label. I asked him what I was supposed to do with it. He just stared at me. I told him I wasn't going to leave without a receipt that had a backing (so it was usable). Now there are people waiting behind me, so he finally printed something out and put the non sticky backing on my receipt, something that should have been done from the outset. Really not great customer service just because I made a bad joke. I will use a different store the next time I have to return something.
