From animals, to rides, food vendors and exhibits, music, and demolition derbies, this fair basically has it all. If I had one complaint, it would be that the musical concerts are almost always the same genre, and focus mostly on country music, and not enough on rock n roll. Over the years, I have seen acts, such as Brad Paisley, and one of the few non-country shows I saw were Jars of Clay, but mostly there are bands that I have no interest in seeing, as I prefer Blugrass and Rock over top-pop-radio-country. Other than that, this fair is one of the best, and I enjoy attending for at least a day or two (sometimes more) every August. I have even won several ribbons here over the years for entering my vegetables, and have won lots of Blue Ribbons for my garlic entries over the years. Cheers!

Consequently the Salvo has to pay their employees almost a liveable wage- so yes it has gotten more pricey than 3 or 4 years ago...but almost retail... oh hell No. My daughter and I go 2 times a month and the experience is usually worth half of what I pay... and then I still get to go use the items. People watching is key here - it's usually a trip! Terrible Christian music usually playing - bring your own headphones. Store is clean for a thrift store. Very well organized. Good selection of men's clothes - which isn't always a thing at thrift stores. Decent art and game sections. Always some off the wall shit to make you scratch your head. Worth the trip.
