I usually enjoy going to post offices, rooms filled with marble, decorated post office boxes, pictures of presidents and famous people throughout history, just the general presence of the federal government.... US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - Kent, Oregon

The Kenton Post Office is located in the 97217 zip code, is okay for what it is but could be better. The nice thing is that it has a window that you can go to after normal hours to retrieve mail from a vacation hold or submit other simple forms, you cannot purchase postage or other things at this window. I may have never seen this before, because I always thought I had to go up to the counter, but when someone was waiting at the window, I decided to wait too and see what would happen. That service is one redeeming factor for this place. The bad is that they don't have an automated shipping kiosk and oversized package receptacle for the eBay-ers, the other bad thing is the location of the street postal box. It is on the opposite side of the street for the driver to put mail in. I've seen someone be on the wrong side of the Kilpatrick Street just so that they could stay in their car when putting mail into the box. Even on the other side of the street it doesn't work because there is a stop sign right there at that four-way intersection. read more

Sometimes the lines are long in post offices, but thats usually due to the usual reasons; people not filling out their slips right, mis-packaged items, holidays, ect. I find the workers at Kenton Post Office pretty pleasant, patient, helpful and they do show concern for their customers, (I'll take that over the crabby, shoot me now employees I've seen other places). I've also seen them save people money in shipping numerous times too. My own experience there: Last December I get up to the desk, slips all prepared right and Leo points out a cheaper way to send one of my overseas packages; saved me $7 on One package. (Think of it this way: $7 is a 6-pack of beer, which can be a beautiful thing after waiting in a long lines during the holidays). Suggestion: grab extra slips and keep them somewhere clean; fill them out before coming to the post office, (that would help speed lines up too). read more

I needed to buy stamps, mail a package to Alabama and a letter to Los Angeles, the postal workers there are friendly and patient. You would be surprised how many teens come in and don't know their butt from a stamp. Nonetheless, they get those kids ready and on their way before you can finish counting the people in the line. If you're a dork like me, and like to collect stamps... This location has some great ones! Like Jimi Hendrix and Beetles or Frieda stamps. I'm sure you could buy them online, but if you live close to the post office, getting away from a screen to deal with snail mail would be cute. Lol My parcels are never late, damaged or lost. My experience here is consistently good, and I get to geek out on stamps. Haha Additionally, I see some long lines here. One lady in line referred to it as heinous. Frankly, if I thought the lines were heinous and I was the WILDLY impatient type (and frequently at the post office) I would give myself about 15 extra minutes. If I got there 15 minutes early and it turned out to be unnecessary, I would walk across to the park and moderate because hypothetical me , is about to have a hypothetical heart attack over the wait at a post office. As many I'm sure, I do not look forward to waiting in line at the post office. However the staff at this office are especially kind, helpful, and I really like that they keep on top of their stock. It can be frustrating facing ship cutoffs and finding out your local post office doesn't have the right supplies for the job; fortunately I've never experienced this at Kenton. read more

Friendly Staff, Lines can get pretty long if you go at lunch time (usually only have one counter open at lunch time while one's at lunch) or right before they close at 5:00. Leo is great, Ken can get a little carried away talking to everyone, but overall they try to lighten up everyone's mood. read more

Like most post offices, there's no stamp machine that accepts debit cards, hence long lines and maybe 2 windows open, staffed by slowpokes. And people wonder why the post office is going broke? Who wants to use these dinosaurs of customer service? It costs the same to go to Fed Ex and ship boxes and it's always faster and easier. And you can purchase stamps online or at Fred Meyer. I avoid this and all post offices whenever possible. They're archaic. read more

Ah I think Ken and Leo are fantastic! They have their own way of doing thing, sure... but they are very thorough - and they always tell you how to send your package the cheapest possible way... I read all the reviews complaining about long lines. Everywhere you go, there's a long line. It comes with living. I suggest that everyone who has a problem with the long lines get on the UFOs like I do next time they come to abduct you and then all your long line problems go away. Stop resisting next time the UFOs arrive. Resistance is futile. An occasional anal probe is small price to pay for the otherwise excellent postal service on the UFOs. (Although you'd think someone who's developed the technology to get here from distant star systems would know a little something about anesthesia.) When I go to the Kenton post office, I always get there about midnight and there's NEVER a long line. And it's always very quiet and peaceful until the cop cars arrive to pick me up. You'd think the Postal System would make some kind of delivery deal with the UFOs to at least deliver packages via UFOs, cuz the UFOs are everywhere and they walk among us as often as any postal carrier. (Do the UFOs have their own Union, yet? Does the AFL-CIO cover interstellar travel?) All I the only one taking the time think of efficient ideas like this? Put me in charge of ruling the world for about a week and a half and I'll get all this organized for you. I'm convinced that Leo is not from this planet, but I can't prove it to the cops each time they give me my ride home. Someday they will listen to me instead of just throwing me into that special room with the padded walls (with the bunnies painted on them) that I always wind up spending a lot of time in. For some reason I have the most difficult time at the post office. I always seem to go at the worst time or get stuck behind the person that has 238 items to mail. But at this location, even if that's the case, my blood pressure is not going to elevate. The staff here is so friendly and competent and I'm pretty sure they could tell you my Grandma's Birthday and the number of packages I send home to my cat Fang. read more

This is a 'small town feel' post office. If you want big marble pillars and fancy automated stamp dispensers, go elsewhere. If you want friendly, efficient, face-to-face interaction with human help, this it where you go. Frankly, anyone who gets impatient in this atmosphere, has had the misfortune to be there at lunchtime or anytime in the month of December, in which case ALL post offices most everywhere are understaffed in this economy. Deal with it! All minor inconvienices pale in the face of losing this little local gem, due to cutbacks. read more

My fave post office. The clerks are jovial and personable and yes, there is almost always a line but thats true of every other post office I have been to all over the city. We avoid going to this post office whenever earthly possible. The lines are heinous. The place might be great for those who consider going to the post office the social highlight of their day, but for people who are busy (have other things to do) it's blow your brains out frustrating! Good ole Ken and Leo repack things, fill out forms, coddle and chat with everyone, completely oblivious to the 20 people waiting in line! With that off my chest . . . our primary issue is with Patty our delivery person. She is so lazy that when we get anything that's too small to fit in our tiny mailbox and the four parcel boxes are full, she won't attempt to deliver it to our door. We used to have an awesome mail person, but he retired and now we constantly get packages delayed and are forced to go to that awful post office to pick them up. read more
