Pilsner Urquell on tap, with some Hungarian goulash and Otto's sausages (Pork only) is the way to go. There are several Other bottled beer selections. Spaten Lager, Spaten Octoberfest, Spaten Optimator, Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse Hells, Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse Dunkel, Paulaner Salvator DoppleBock, Deschutes Mirror Pond, Deschutes Black Butte Porter and a few other PNW Brews. Along with beer there are several Warm Drinks Served such as Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate and Also a Chocolate wine thats quite good mixed with the hot chocolate. They offer deli sandwiches as well. They rotate their soups, Vege beef, Brocolii cheese are a few. The Hungarian goulash is my favorite. Sevice is always friendly. Always a nice warm fire. It totally transports you back in time to the days when pioneers followed the Oregon Trail and settled in communities to farm and build a new life. Still a farming community, at this outdoor museum in Dufur, you can see several wagons that were used back in the late 1800s and early 1900s by pioneers embarking on the Lewis & Clark Trail. Even a Studebaker wagon! Who knew? The wagons were vastly different than I imagined or had seen depicted in movies. They are much, much narrower and very long. With their wooden wheels and rickety structure, it's absolutely amazing that they carried so many on such a long journey. And underscores how risky the journey was with so many breaking down along the way. The farm equipment and tools were equally amazing. The John Deere tractor, the logo still prominent, was clearly groundbreaking in its day. Pun intended! Each of the buildings, like where the horses were kept and well cared for, the school building, the mercantile, and barns are there to explore. Loved the 2 story, hand built log cabin built by the Schreiber family, completed in 1901. Family members lived in the cabin until 1973 and then, the following year, donated it to the Dufur Histirical Society. All of the buildings and landmarks have information about the history and function. I learned quite a lot and now want to research more. Located right next to the Post Office, you can't miss this outdoor museum. As I was driving through this part of Oregon on a one day drive adventure, I'm so glad I stopped to explore! While in Dufur, have lunch at the historic and beautifully restored Balch Hotel, stop at the market that has lots of curated goods, the coffee shop, and of course, just take a ride and marvel at the unobstructed views of Mt. Hood, whose presence is so grand from this vantage point. Still a dry, wheat farming community, the words "amber waves of grain" come to mind as you drive through miles and miles of golden fields.

There are still good people in this world, and Cody at Gorge Us Lawn Care LLC is one of them…read more After my father passed away last autumn, our family was left trying to manage things he had always taken care of himself... including all the yard work and equipment maintenance. None of us even knew how to get the lawn mower running, much less diagnose what was wrong with it. Cody stepped in without hesitation. Within about 10 minutes, he had the mower up and running again. When the belt later broke, he even offered to help us get a replacement that same night. That kind of kindness and willingness to help people is rare these days. What makes Cody especially valuable to this community is that he doesn't just do lawn care; he actively helps reduce fire danger by keeping properties maintained and under control. Anyone who lives in this area knows how important that is. He's done fantastic work for my parents in the past, and once again proved why he's someone you can trust. If you need lawn care, property cleanup, fire prevention maintenance, or just someone reliable who genuinely cares about helping people, I strongly recommend Gorge Us Lawn Care LLC. The Bridge of the Gods... now that's a name that carries some weight…read more And it should because long before this steel beauty ever stretched across the Columbia River Gorge, there was something else here. A real, honest-to-God land bridge. A massive landslide hundreds of years ago choked the river and let people cross on foot until the river fought back and tore it apart. The Native legends say the gods themselves had a hand in building it... and destroying it. Fast forward, and now you've got this 1926 cantilever bridge about 1,800 feet of steel hanging out over the Columbia, standing roughly 140 feet above the water like it's got something to prove. Now here's where it gets personal. Years back little younger, little dumber, definitely more ambitious I ran a marathon. And by "ran," I mean I survived it with forward motion and questionable decision-making. But the moment I remember? Crossing this bridge. No crazy wind that day. Just... calm. Which is rare out there. You're up high enough to feel it, but not fighting it. Just steady. You look out, and it's cliffs, rock, river, and sky all layered together like somebody took their time building the view. And that's the thing about this bridge it sneaks up on you. From a distance, it's all structure. Steel, angles, purpose. But when you're on it? It's exposure. You feel the height. You feel the space. You realize real quick this isn't just a crossing it's a moment suspended out over something much bigger than you. There's history under your feet. Legends in the rocks. And yeah... maybe a little bit of your own story tied into it too. It's not flashy. It's not trying to be
