I wandered through slowly admiring everything I could while trying not to look like a strange, grinning lunatic. I loved it. And about 5 seconds after I walked out the door I remembered I was still holding the letter that I went in there to send.

We are staying at Bryce Canyon City for the month and need to drive the twenty miles to Panguitch…read moreto pick up our mail (the mail is addressed to Bryce Canyon City but is kept here.) the first time I came in we inquired about mail and the lady went and checked. We then asked about a package we were expecting and she went and checked in a different area. Since then we've come by every few days asking about mail and packages. Today we were wondering about overdue mail and checked in again. When we mentioned mail this same lady informed us they would only give us packages but not mail. "What do you do with it" we asked. "We send it back" she responds. So that's where our mail has been going. Oh yeah, she states they'd have kept it for us if there was a PO Box number. No masks worn, no distancing, but there is a plastic barrier.

I mailed a package from zip code 84726 to 97703.The contents of the package were stolen. The…read morepackage was mailed first class and arrived at it's destination but it had been ripped open, the contents stolen, resealed and delivered. It was mailed first class so there is no insurance. I asked the local postmaster what re-course I had and he said 'send it priority mail.' In other words, give USPS more money and they won't steal your stuff.

I had already purchased stamps so I did not interact with anyone behind the counter. I did notice that the workers seemed to be moving the line along quickly.

And a nice bathroom nearby. I took a postcard over here and figured mailing it from Emery Utah would be cool and random for my friends at work. It was also the only address I have memorized, so my friends and family were probably pretty hurt I didn't think of them, but that's what e-mail is for. Anyway they were friendly here and mailed it off for about .30 cents. Let's hope post offices don't all close. This one had people coming and going as I was there.
