You don't have to deal with the employee that has been annoyed since an hour after the start of their shift. Also, it just feels like it moves faster. I stopped in here while on my way to an event. It had been a while, but I finally ran out of stamps. Like others, I don't want to just buy a stamp at a time, so I came in here to buy a book of stamps and to mail the letter that I needed to mail. When you walk in, it is like your typical small town post office. You walk into the area that has all the post office boxes and then you need to go into the lobby area for all other transactions, inquiries, and purchases. When I walked into the lobby area I had one person in front of me finishing up and then I was greeted by the nicest postal employee I have ever had the joy of dealing with. She greeted me so warmly and started a conversation with me like it was second nature and I knew her my whole life. She was so cheery throughout that I almost forgot to mail my letter. For some odd reason, post offices in rural area are so much more pleasant to deal with than others. And why is it that everyone seems to talk in a whisper when inside, this isn't a library after all?

Growing up in this area is why I remember a post office being a safe place rather than a hassle as I have grown to learn from living elsewhere for nearly twenty years now. The interesting thing about this town, Northern Cambria, is that there are two post offices in town. I know what you are thinking, why? Well, back before the year 2000 Northern Cambria did not exist. What you had were two separate towns called Spangler and Barnesboro. They then decided that in an effort to save money they would consolidate into one town, thus forming Northern Cambria. Instead of building a new consolidated post office they kept the two separate. If you put in the zip code 15714, it may still show up as Barnesboro. Also, if you notice the address for here the zip code comes up 15775, the old one for Spangler (even though when this address was just entered by me, I put 15714 as 15775 no longer exists). Look on some maps and you might still see the two towns still distinguished as separate entities, but in actually they no longer exist anymore. The post office that this review is for is still in its spot for as far back as I can remember. Not much has changed inside. The few exceptions being that you no longer need to separate your outgoing mail, they can all go into the same bin and the addition of newer technology for payment. Other than that, it's still that quiet area that people enter and leave quickly, much like a library. Once I moved away from home, my perception on how a post office operates definitely changed.

It has been a long time since I ever stepped foot into this post office location. Honestly, rarely…read moredid I need to, especially since the other in the area was more convenient for me growing up and just in general. This branch is what was the Barnesboro branch prior to the Northern Cambria merger with Spangler. There were talks to close one of the locations in the area when the merger happened, but both remain open to this day. Probably has something to do with the amount of home delivery this end of town has. The other end of what is now NC never had home delivery. This location has always felt smaller in the lobby area as it is just the narrow strip as you enter the building. The window for service is small as well, an unlike the other location, does not have a separate room. Instead it has one of those roll down gates. Even with the smaller window, they do have some of the best customer service. We were looking for a package, in case you didn't know, USPS is messed up when it comes to packages and the delivery thereof. The guy working was able to confirm that the package came through there, but was going to have to boomerang back around. It's weird, less than three miles away is where it needed to go, but send it on a state tour before getting there. They were very helpful and gave us a timetable of when it would make its return. Was nice to have that type of service.
