Growing up in this area is why I remember a post office being a safe place rather than a hassle as I have grown to learn from living elsewhere for nearly twenty years now. The interesting thing about this town, Northern Cambria, is that there are two post offices in town. I know what you are thinking, why? Well, back before the year 2000 Northern Cambria did not exist. What you had were two separate towns called Spangler and Barnesboro. They then decided that in an effort to save money they would consolidate into one town, thus forming Northern Cambria. Instead of building a new consolidated post office they kept the two separate. If you put in the zip code 15714, it may still show up as Barnesboro. Also, if you notice the address for here the zip code comes up 15775, the old one for Spangler (even though when this address was just entered by me, I put 15714 as 15775 no longer exists). Look on some maps and you might still see the two towns still distinguished as separate entities, but in actually they no longer exist anymore. The post office that this review is for is still in its spot for as far back as I can remember. Not much has changed inside. The few exceptions being that you no longer need to separate your outgoing mail, they can all go into the same bin and the addition of newer technology for payment. Other than that, it's still that quiet area that people enter and leave quickly, much like a library. Once I moved away from home, my perception on how a post office operates definitely changed.

You don't have to deal with the employee that has been annoyed since an hour after the start of their shift. Also, it just feels like it moves faster. I stopped in here while on my way to an event. It had been a while, but I finally ran out of stamps. Like others, I don't want to just buy a stamp at a time, so I came in here to buy a book of stamps and to mail the letter that I needed to mail. When you walk in, it is like your typical small town post office. You walk into the area that has all the post office boxes and then you need to go into the lobby area for all other transactions, inquiries, and purchases. When I walked into the lobby area I had one person in front of me finishing up and then I was greeted by the nicest postal employee I have ever had the joy of dealing with. She greeted me so warmly and started a conversation with me like it was second nature and I knew her my whole life. She was so cheery throughout that I almost forgot to mail my letter. For some odd reason, post offices in rural area are so much more pleasant to deal with than others. And why is it that everyone seems to talk in a whisper when inside, this isn't a library after all?

The prices for the washer may be higher than average but the dryer is cheap and the place is 24…read morehours open. It totally helps when you need to do clothes at odd hours.

And I never…read morewould have visited Punxsutawney on my own volition, except that we were on a road trip and why the heck not, right? Now we can check this place off our list because we hit all the sights and sounds of the town, including their very own Chamber of Commerce, which doubles as a gift shop for all things Groundhog Day. You can go hog (ha) wild and buy tshirts, souvenir glasses, mugs, keychains, magnets, postcards, plush toys, finger puppets, spoon rests, canned groundhog (no joke, see my picture) and whatever else may tickle your groundhog fancy. They also offer free maps and visitor info guides. And the Chamber of Commerce is a short walk to the public park where you can see Phil and Mrs. Phil sleeping peacefully in a glassed in chamber, just waiting for Feb. 2nd to roll around again. Hint: there's a better view of the chamber from the inside of the Public Library kids' books sections. And note that you have to drive to the nearby area of Gobbler's Knob to see the actual park grounds where Phil makes his predictions on Groundhog Day.

Recently, I tried to send a Christmas present to my friend and used this post office to ship it. Tracking the package, me and my friend were so excited when it said out for delivery but then realized it wasn't in the right city. It was marked as undeliverable and sent back to me. Looking at the delivery, it stated that the city it was out to be delivered in had a zip code ending in 8 and my friends ended in 0, which I'm guessing there was an error in what was written on the shipping slip that the post office rights because my addresses on the package were marked clearly. because the staff is friendly. But, this is a small post office, and I had the experience that an error was made shipping my package. Not thinking to look ahead at the hours, because most post offices open at 8:30am (I thought they all did) when I took the package back to get the error resolved and get my friend her now very late Christmas package, I found out that this post office doesn't open until 9:30am. Luckily, I was able to go to the Blairsville post office and they fixed the issue. Would recommend sending out letters from here or buying stamps, but it may be better to drive the extra 5 minutes to Blairsville to make sure the delivery is entered right in the computer.
