Instead of calmly voiding my items and asking me to pull to the side to figure out where the actual gift card was (and why it was never emailed to me), she aggressively told me that I HAD to pay for my items. The entire interaction was awkward and humiliating. Obviously, I wasn't about to run out of Costco with a cart full of groceries. Eventually, another employee--who was actually kind and competent--stepped in and immediately figured out the issue. The whole situation could have been resolved easily and respectfully from the start. Instead, it turned into unnecessary emotional abuse. I'm sure this cashier is a miserable person who hates her life, but that is not my fault. The world is already cruel enough--why choose to add to that for absolutely no reason? I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who has to work with her and just has to keep their mouth shut and roll their eyes when she's not looking. On a positive note, the manager was very sweet, listened to my concerns, and handled the situation professionally.
