After the wildfires last season caused the cancellation of many performances in the outdoor theatre…read morethe festival made an arrangement w/ Ashland High School to use their theatre for performances that would otherwise be outdoors. I'm not sure how the decision is made whether to stage the performances here or when that decision was made. When we arrived last Monday the smoke was very thick and we weren't sure we could stay the entire week, but the air quality has steadily improved day by day. Last night and tonight we saw performances here. Maps are given out at the box office w/ the tickets, so it's easy to find, and there are several parking lots plus street parking. We found parking easily and were able to get on our way readily after the performance. There is ample seating in the lobby until the house opens. There is a concession stand, although I didn't check it out, and there is a popup Tudor Guild gift shop that seemed quite popular. The theatre is smaller and not as comfortable as the Elizabethan or the Bowmer. There are no handrails on the walls beside the stairs down, because high school students don't need them, although I observed a sweet young usher escorting an elderly woman down the stairs, so that care is taken. Seats are narrower than in the Festival's other theatres and there is less legroom, so it's necessary for those who are seated to stand so others can pass by. But seats are comfortably cushioned and sight lines and sound are good. The fanfare that normally opens shows at the Elizabethan Theatre is played here and that's a little sad because there is no one to run up the flag and doff his cap. But the theatre allows performances to go on that might otherwise be canceled and that's a very good thing.

Still cataloging donations and our future plans to expand are on our minds as we arrange and also hold celebrations here. The museum and the Guardians of the Museum will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1978 opening with a open house Sept 15th. Music and refreshments from 5:30-7, but you can tour all day with our resident emeritus.

I saw two productions here during the 2025 season and thoroughly loved my experience. I got the lowest tier tickets and my seats were great...not a bad seat in the house here! Do make sure you get tickets early for these shows if they're a priority; the small capacity means it can sell out quickly.

Food is so incredibly bad, even the simplest thing like ice cream tasted cheap. I either didn't care before because I was young and broke or the quality took a nose dive. I filled up my water bottle with their water jug (can't bring liquids) but it was horrible. So gross I had to buy two plastic water bottles, and we all know how great that is for the planet! I swear everyone brags about siding with environmentalists yet their actions speak differently. The two shows I went to were great, a lot of fun.
