Parking was a bit of a hassle, but after getting through security smoothly, we headed to the second floor where the ceremony was held. There were actually quite a lot of people becoming citizens that day. After checking in for the ceremony, friends and family were invited to witness this special moment. We listened to the President's message and the U.S. national anthem, and then it became official--my dad became a U.S. citizen. Congratulations to him on gaining voting rights and access to better benefits. Overall, like anything, there are pros and cons, but the staff members were all very friendly, and it was a meaningful and memorable experience for our family.

Once he received confirmation for his interview date, we arrived about 15 mins before his appointment time. Please note, you cannot show up more than 30 mins before your appointment. The truth is, the line was so long when we arrived that by the time we got to the security screening, we were right on time. So I would recommend arriving at least 15-20 mins before. Security was pleasant and tried their best to be as efficient as possible. Please also note, you cannot bring any bags or purses inside. They will make you leave and return the items to your car. After we got through security, everything else was smooth. My family member passed his knowledge test (yay!), and was directed to return in two weeks for his oath ceremony. We returned for the ceremony, which was honestly a bit lackluster considering all of the things people go through to become citizens of this country. It's kind of like they're just herding cattle to churn people through the system. At this point, my family member didn't really care and was just excited for everything to be over with. I think as long as you follow instructions provided by the national USCIS office, your time spent here will be fine.

You're like, "Aww snap, did Jonathan have to vist the Department of Revenue because he owed back…read moretaxes?" Nah, man. I pay my fair share. What I did have to do, though, was simply pick up a liquor license. Because parties are fun with that bubbly bubbly et al. Ok, things to know: ***** I. LOCATION & PARKING Google Maps will take you to the Department of Revenue building, and it's very easy to find. The correct entrance to the building, however... sort of challenging. The obvious door, one would think, is located in the large entrance in the back. (That's what she said.) That's for government employees only. Hug the left side and you'll find an unmarked entrance. When you walk through the glass doors, head to the left. I think obtaining a liquor license fell under "Custom Requests" or something like that. You'll have to go through security, but you won't have to take off your belt or any metal jewelry. II. SERVICES For having only three other people waiting there and maybe four or so service windows, it took about ten minutes until my turn. When it was my turn, I simply gave my name and number, and they gave me my liquor license. Pretty easy. III. OVERALL While I can't provide an eloquent, detailed synopsis of the Department of Revenue my experience obtaining a liquor license there was pretty easy. But, it's definitely not an attraction. ;)

Weekends though SJ traffic is little lighter. Not today apparently. Doesn't help with semi truck drivers thinking they drive sports cars, a little lost out of staters, some who do everything but driving like texting, smoking, scolding their kids, whatever else and just some Aholes who think their time is more important than others' by cutting in. Yup it was rough travels to Duluth aka Ktown today on SJ for 1/2 hour on a Saturday afternoon!! It'll be a while to shake loose this trip. Peace.
