I am a physician from South Florida who flew to Birmingham, Alabama just so I could visit Dr…read moreWilliam Hedden at the Hedden Plastic Surgery Center and have the "miraDry" procedure performed on myself, as quite honestly, I sweat profusely and after I heard him lecture on this topic at a medical conference, I wanted to have this procedure performed on myself to stop my underarm sweat and odor. As every physician knows, doctors make the worst patients, and I was on my best behavior to avoid being one of those patients that every doctor hates to see when they walk into the treatment room. So, after a flight to Birmingham and a night at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook, I took an Uber to the Hedden Plastic Surgery Center and was the first patient of the day. Upon arrival, the office and surgical suite was stunningly beautiful and modern that could rival any medical office in the country. I was greeted by a friendly staff, and completed my paperwork on one of their computers. I was taken into an examination room, given a full informed consent and explanation of the miraDry procedure. Truth be told, I already did some research before hand via one of his nurses and was well prepared to have the procedure performed. I had the pleasure to have Wynn work on me and she was an outstanding medical nurse that has performed the miraDry procedure many times. After a local anesthesia that I barley felt, the miraDry procedure is like a handheld wand that uses miraWave energy that targets and destroys sweat and odor glands in your underarm. Once those glands are destroyed they do not grow back so that means once they are gone, they are gone for good. The entire procedure took about 45 minuted each side and I had pretty much zero pain and took a Uber to the airport to travel home. The only challenge was trying to keep the ice packs under each armpit and travel on a plane, so if I had to do it again, I would have spend another night in Alabama and leave the next day. So there you go, I had the miraDry procedure performed on myself and now I get to write a Yelp review about an embarrassing medical condition I have (well technically I am cured now so the correct word is "had" and I am glad I did it). The day after and next few days after the procedure were not bad at all, other than some significant swelling in my underarms that made me look like I was at the gym, and there was some mild redness. I really had no pain, no complications, and would 100% recommend this procedure and Dr Hedden to anyone that has excessive underarm sweating or odor. I am sure that there are other doctors and medical centers that offer this procedure, but I decided to go to Dr Hedden as I felt he was a world class expert in this procedure and after hearing him lecture and spend some time in his office, I am super happy I traveled to see him and his staff --- he deserves my 5 star rating on Yelp.

Well an emergency came up on my end in September so I didn't follow up. It is now November and I am told everything has to be redone and resubmit to my insurance. I am sharing my personal (terrible) experience with Wilson Plastic Surgery, particularly regarding how financial and medical information was disclosed. I experienced a consistent pattern from start to finish: important disclosures -- the consent form, the complication-liability terms, a legible copy of the cancellation policy -- arrived only after I had already paid. By the time I had full information at any stage, walking away already cost me money. * I was told the Surgery Proposal was "simply a proposal," not a binding contract with a cancellation penalty, and I was not given a copy of it when I signed. * The consent form disclosing 100% patient liability for complications was sent to me only after my first deposit was already paid. * My final consultation with Dr. Wilson -- where the real risks were actually discussed -- was scheduled only 16 days before my surgery date, already inside the 50% cancellation window. * At that consultation, Dr. Wilson asked me to change my pre-anesthesia questionnaire answers from "Unsure" to "No," to proceed with the surgery, even though I genuinely did not have the information at the time. * I canceled after learning of a specific, serious family medical history involving anesthesia complications, and I notified the office immediately. I was told not to worry, rather than being connected with the doctor to discuss it. * I asked to speak with Dr. Wilson directly before the cancellation was finalized and was not given that chance. * I requested copies of documents I had signed back in their office and did not receive a legible copy until months later, after I had already paid in full -- and one specific document I asked for still has not been provided (even after more than 4 months passed).

To make a long story short I have what he calls a "double bubble." And basically it looks like I have 4 boobs. The small amount of natural breast tissue that I have sits on top of my implant, creating a lump on a lump. They look awful and embarrassing. When I went to Dr.Kahler to ask him what's up with this, he basically told me that because I was so small and that the amount of implant was just a bit much for my size... I am 120 lbs and I now have a size C cup. They're not giant. So when I asked him how we were going to fix this, he told me he would have to put this mesh "sling" into each breast to basically hold the implants up and that my body would absorb the mesh and become scar tissue. Then he quoted me $3700 for him to fix them. (Notice the timeline- implants were pre-pandemic , and my follow-up appointment was after the lockdown.) This was in 2020 that he told me this price, so I'm sure if i went back now, it would be even more. I left crying when they told me I would have to pay nearly as much to fix them as I paid to have them in the first place. I am a hairdresser. I have had AT LEAST 3 of my clients who also had implants with Dr.Kahler that they aren't satisfied with. One woman told me she's glad she's married because she wouldn't want anyone new to see her breasts. I feel the same way, I'm glad I'm married because my breasts are embarrassing. My husband has told me they look "fuc*ed up." Another woman said she had to have one side revised within 2 months of her initial surgery. And another woman said he made her breasts way bigger than discussed. I absolutely will not pay this business that much money for him to FIX my breasts that he improperly implanted. Especially after someone told me about the "revision" he did on them and the awful outcome they now live with. i absolutely will not go back. I know too many women who have had issues with their breasts after surgery with him. And to be asked to pay THOUSANDS more to fix what I already paid thousands for in the first place. Do your research. I had even asked another local doctor what she thought about him doing my breast augmentation prior to my surgery and she told me "he's good for some things, but maybe not that" but I didn't listen to her because I'd already had my consultation and was excited about my surgery. Please, just do your research!!!
