The posts were apparently rotten. 5 years later and that replaced portion of the fence ONLY has fallen over and ripped away from the surrounding fence. We had a great experience working with Grier. During a recent snowstorm the weight of the snow pulled over a large section of our aging fence. I'm amazed how Grier was able to rebuild the fence in rather tough conditions and it looks fantastic. He suggested re-using a lot of our wood since it was unique and would match other fencing in our yard. He salvaged as much of it as he could and even sourced more that was needed to complete the project. The rumors are true; Urban Frontier is legit! Grier and his trusty sidekick, Anders completed two projects for me this summer; a deck around my hot tub and replacement of a section of fence (with a gate). I attempted to solicit bids from 6 different highly-rated contractors. The only reason I reached out to so many companies was that no one was getting back to me. I had a very specific design in mind for the deck and I knew it would take not only someone who knows how to build a deck, but also someone with a flair for design. In addition to it being a relatively complicated design, the existing patio and yard weren't level, so I knew it was going to be a challenging job for whoever agreed to take it on. Of the 3 contractors who eventually gave me bids, Urban Frontier's estimate was the highest, but only by a very small margin. I was impressed with their knowledge of materials and ideas for how to make the project come together exactly the way I envisioned it. And they seemed legitimately excited about the project, whereas the other contractors seemed less enthusiastic. Throughout the project, I received regular updates on their progress, including plenty of opportunities to give input when they weren't sure which way I preferred something be done. Most of the time I deferred to their expertise. After all, they're the guys who do this for a living! Ultimately, some of the decisions I left to them ended up being some of the coolest aspects of the finished product. I couldn't be more happy with how everything turned out. I have a beautiful deck and a new fence, both built "bomb-proof". They look much better and I'm sure will last much longer than if I'd gone with a company who gave me a slightly cheaper bid. These guys knocked out a challenging fencing project for me over Labor Day weekend two years ago. The challenge was removing many blackberry bushes and digging out a few old fences that were cobbled together. The fence is far better than we expected. That's right, we love our fence. Grier and Anders came out to our home for an estimate on a balcony railing that my husband and I wanted to have recreated out of wood. They were very knowledgeable as they inspected our woodwork, and pointed out a few things that could be improved, such as choosing the proper wood, explaining why our current railings (all DIY projects by the previous owners) were falling apart, and showing us places in the front deck railing that needed to be reinforced for safety. We had also gotten an estimate from another company for a metal balcony railing, but the cost would have been the same, so we decided to hire Urban Frontier to rebuild and preserve the unique character of our house. My husband and I were so thrilled that we made this decision; they built a beautifully constructed railing and were open to some changes that we came up with together, such as converting the planter boxes in our railing into seats in order to prevent moisture buildup and prolong the lifespan of the deck. I also mentioned that I was worried about my small children getting stuck in the existing railing, and they designed and built a solution in a flash. Grier & Anders just finished resurfacing my back deck & front entryway decking/walkway with Trex. The project came out so much nicer than I even anticipated. It not only looks great, it feels 200% safer than the rotted wood that was there before. They were really great to work with and went out of their way to do extra things the other bidders on the project did not include. They have great attention to detail, are very easy to work with, do a great job and are super nice guys tool! As an example, Dunn lumber delivered the decking materials a few days before the guys were going to work, I was worried about having the expensive decking materiel in the driveway, in terms of inviting someone to come by and take it. Similar to all of the other reviews, these two gentlemen are as nice, professional, courteous, and timely as they come. They came within one day of my call to look at our fence repair. All of their visits were punctual--literally, to the minute. They communicate very well, are very upfront about what they think needs to be done and why. We threw out a few different options at them. In the end, they were able to show us how they could save us $$$ by being a little creative. We couldn't be more pleased with how our fence repair turned out. It's total quality work, no cutting corners. Easily, we'll get several more years out of the fence thanks to their fixes. We had a very noticeable "lean" in the fence due to years of being battered by winds, rain, etc. They were able to fix it to "straight-as-an-arrow."
