Firstly, their staff are super knowledgable, helpful and they listen to what you want. Secondly, they always have a gorgeous range of flowers and a couple of unique plants. And thirdly, their card range is legit! On my most recent visit I also discovered that they have those washable paper bag/pot type things, you know the ones that you see in all the trendy cafes these days. I got a white one with big black crosses and have put a large orchid in it - looks wonderful! Unfortunately, Roses is a bit of a trek for me but if you live in the area and are looking for a florist this should mos def be your no. 1 port of call.

With the amount I was willing to spend, I wasn't expecting anything amazing. I ended up calling Roses on Friday afternoon to arrange 3 bouquets to be picked up on Saturday at 2pm. I told the florist to surprise me and just give me what they could. On saturday, the day of the pageant I got so overwhelmed I forgot to pick up the flowers. Thankfully I got a call and when I explained I wouldn't make it to the florist before it closed, the florist offered to leave the flowers at the shop next door to be picked up and I could leave the money there. When the flowers finally arrived to the venue, they where so beautiful and I could not believe I had only spent $50.

Just a tiny store, most of Ponsonby Flowers' flowers are displayed on the street. And I love it. The arrangements brighten up the entire block of shops and definitely work to attract customers! Sunflowers, gerberas, tulips, roses - Ponsonby Flowers has a great variety of flowers available and the prices are really reasonable. Plus, the couple that own it are absolutely lovely. When I stopped to smell the roses - literally - the woman came out of the store and stood with me chatting about the nice weather and her favourite flowers. She was delightful, and it was obvious she has a genuine interest in flowers and enjoys her job - something that can't be said by many. They are really friendly, helpful and have very competitive prices. The flowers are very beautifully arranged in bunches if you need something pre-done and ready for a special occasion, or there is an ample selection available that you can have made up at your request; or buy a bunch of random bits and pieces and arrange for yourself at home if you want to get creative. The flowers have also been consistently fresh, so quality is guaranteed. They have another store in Henderson, 229 Lincoln Road, according to their business card, but I have not been in there yet, so cannot review that one until then!

They also stock fresh breads from Wild Wheat on Mt Eden Road, which is very good bread and all the ingredients you would need to make a meal to impress. Additionally there is a wonderful range of chilled product, gourmet frozen yoghurts, sorbet and ice creams and more for the sweet tooth, New Zealand chocolates and Turkish Delight actually form Turkey.
