In a way, it was a little convenient, which was a good thing, but nothing really all that outstanding. They did do a decent eggs benedict so I have to give them credit for that, though the tea did happen to be a little strong. Still, it was nice and relaxing, so I'll give it that as well, and the staff were also rather nice.

Though…read morethey didn't have almond milk the lovely lady at the counter recommended the coconut milk, which was specially made for coffees. The guy waiting in line behind us commented, "I've had it before at this place, it's actually rather nice." So I ordered the iced coconut milk latte. Took about 25 minutes to arrive, *which is something to consider* but there's some tables outside next to large rocks and rustic light bulbs strung above them, which we proceeded to sit at. The coffee was was alright, the espresso was strong and rich, which was great, and the coconut milk was quite creamy and milky but it was ok. It wasn't exactly a favourite, I guess it wasn't my cuppa tea, or in this case, coffee. My father thought the Soy Flat White was quote "began as it meant to go on, and it delivered. 4.5 stars, because I do not believe in the platonic idea of the perfect cup of coffee," end quote. On D1's long black index this little Bellingen cafe scored well. Ages ago GHB designed his own…read morebreakfast dish which he named 'Bacon on toast'. Destined for a creative profession that young man. Only a surprisingly few places can deliver it though. The temptation to put more than just butter and bacon on a piece of toast has proven too great for a lot of places. Leaves are the most common mistake, particularly parsley, but other cooks have added aoli, eggs (he hates them), BBQ sauce, avocado, tomato and the weirdest one, a sausage? Why? Anyway this place knows how to perfectly execute 'Bacon on toast'. We know that because the young bloke who served us came back to our little outside table five times in what felt like a comedy routine. 1. (to GHB) "Just bacon on toast?" - answer "Yes".... "Sourdough?" - "yes thanks" 2. (To me) "Would you like your eggs poached or fried?" - "poached thanks" 3. (To me again) "Do you want a small or large cappuccino?" - "small thanks" 4. (To D1) "Large or small long black?" - "small thanks" 5. (to me) "Do you want any sauce with your eggs?" - "Yes please - BBQ" I felt like going in and asking the person running the place to stop teasing him but it occurred to me that each was a very good question and it really only showed that they wanted us to be happy and get everything right. No doubt all the questions could have been done in one hit but that would have spoiled a very funny brekky. By the fifth visit D1 could no longer contain herself and collapsed in a fit of giggles. He was of course immediately christened 'Manuel'. We hope he has a long and distinguished career in Bellingen. We thought this place was great.

3.4 Lunch stop…read moretoday. This is a semi cute cafe in lovely Bellingen. After a quick look at the menu we esch quickly opted for the trout poke bowl which sounded lovely. We kept to our choice when we were told the trout was off and it was smoked salmon only instead. Locally smoked we were told with origin otherwise unknown. Salmon's ok by me. The bowl was good and was well composed. It looked attractive on arrival and certainly tasted good. A combination of very well cooked brown rice, crispy beans, kimchi, carrot, ginger, lettuce, cucumber, avocado and sprouts, the flavours were a winner for me. Everything worked well together in this dish. My only issue was the size of the dish. It's too small in my view and needs to be increased by a third to count as a proper serve. We were a little unlucky today. There was construction work underway next door. Workers. Circulars saws. Banging. The whole bit. Canvas up to screen the work. It happens. We didn't let it concern us too much. the outdoor area of the cafe was fine despite the distraction. Service was nice throughout. Quite a good place overall. I'd happily return.
