This salon has recently changed its name to Urban District Salon. I recently moved to the area and I was hunting down a place for a color and cut that wouldn't break the bank. I posted on my local Next Door and received several suggestions. Kellie contacted me and said she had openings within a couple of days. Okay, set the appointment and went in the door. Very cute and happy salon with just 3 stylists. I had been going to someone in another state for a long time that was in a private suite. I hadn't seen a lot of the techniques for color and cut in years. I learned a lot from the three stylists that were working, including Kellie. We talked about what I needed and she went to work. Jessica Zimmerman, the owner has "rebranded" and the name is now Urban District. I was a loyal client of Jessica at Urban District Salon (formerly "The Nest") in Corona De Tucson for over _seven years_, but unfortunately, I can no longer recommend her services. Over time, I noticed a decline in the quality of care while prices steadily increased--without any prior notice to clients. For instance, they started charging for toner with a color service, when it had always been included in the price of a color service previously. My hair suffered noticeable damage due to her lack of care. (she left a toner on my hair for WAY too long) She used very little heat protectant and very little professional protectant/styling hair products on my long hair. Her brushes were in poor shape, with the protective tips worn off and they hurt my scalp, so I even had to bring my own brush to my appointments! The salon itself is unclean--the towels constantly smelled like mildew, which was extremely off-putting and the rest room in always dirty. Given the 50-minute drive, it just wasn't worth it anymore, especially when I was paying more for less care and attention. We ended things amicably after I cancelled my appointments with a month notice and we exchanged some nice texts. However, when I later asked her what hair color she had been using on me--something I have a right to know for my new stylist--she simply ignored my messages and never replied. I am very surprised at her completely ignoring a simple question. After seven years, I expected a little more professionalism. If you're looking for a salon that prioritizes hair health, cleanliness, and transparency, I'd strongly advise looking elsewhere. If you're looking for a salon that puts care, quality, and client experience first, unfortunately, Urban District no longer fits the bill. If you don't mind overpaying for service, and the risk of having your private conversations turned into gossip, then maybe it won't bother you, but the decline in customer care is frustrating. I truly hope they realize that real, lasting growth comes from happy customers. :( read more

I have never been to The Nest but my mom visits frequently. We went out of town recently but before we left she tried to cancel on the Internet and thought it went through. While we were out of town she received a phone call from The Nest and they told her she owed for not cancelling and it was going to be $67. My mom felt very hurt because she would do anything she could for anybody. She would never not pay anybody. From what was said to me I felt it could have been handled differently especially if you have a repeating customer but obvious if that's how you do in Customer Service then don't be upset when u are slow and don't have those customers to fall back on as they have moved to someone else. read more

I spent much of 2020 working remotely from Vail, AZ and needed to find a stylist that would be able to provide the cut and color that I prefer. It was important to me that I would find someone especially skilled in the latest techniques and be able to accommodate my needs and preferences. Many stylists listen to what you want but go ahead and do what they know how to do which often has a poor outcome. Jessica is extremely skilled and very personable. She listened to me and the results were outstanding! She also recommended and had products available for my hair which extended the color. I highly recommend The Nest Hair Studio. I recently returned to Vail for another stay and scheduled an appointment with Danielle. She is amazing, too. We discussed my hair issues and I showed her a photo of my recent cut. I called on a Tuesday and was set up with an appointment for Saturday at 4pm (but they close at 3pm) with Tricee. I go to my appointment and no one was there. I called the business phone that's listed and was I text back after I left a message about no one at the salon. I waited 15 minutes to see what was going on but then left. The owner did apologize for the ball drop and I said that I would just call back to reschedule. Jessica is amazing, not only is she very skilled and experienced at what she does, but she's kind and welcoming. I made a mistake and wrote down the wrong appointment time, and i showed up 30 mins late, but she was very sweet about it and found a way to fit me in anyways. She always achieves the look i'm going for even when it's complex or difficult to do. For example, a while back she managed to successfully transform my hair from a dark black color to a bright, vivid red with a dark root to help the color grow out more gracefully.
