I usually love this place for cheap clothes. The frequent sales make it suitable for a slim wallet and an ever evolving wardrobe from secondary to university.
However, my most recent visit eliminated my desire to ever return.
It was about 8PM on a Saturday (May 26, 2018), and I was waiting for the fitting rooms. I had two items in hand, and there was no one in front of me. The employee working the fitting rooms took my items and hung them up for me in a fitting room, and I proceeded to try things on. There were a pair of pants hanging on the hook inside, probably from some previous customer that didn't take it with them.
Halfway through undressing, I heard banging on my door. I said that there was someone in here, assuming it was the usual checking for empty rooms, and continued.
I did open the door at one point, wondering if there was anything wrong, but noticed nothing.
The banging on the door then continued. I put my own dress back on, and opened the door. A man was there this time, giving me a look of absolute annoyance, telling me that I was in his room.
Apparently, the pants in the room were his.
I quickly grabbed my two garments and left, mentioning to him that an employee had sent me in by error.
Before I could get any further with my explanation, the employee that had sent me into the room came up to me.
He told me, with the same annoyance I feel from my own customers when I work in customer service, that I "ran in there myself" and enlightened me with the knowledge that the correct procedure was that I "should have just asked him for a room."
I didn't understand him.
I didn't understand why all of a sudden it was my fault.
I didn't understand what I could have done to avoid being accused and hurt and berated for something I didn't feel like I did.
I tried to say that I didn't run in there myself and that he had sent me in.
He insisted that I was wrong, that I was lying, showing no shred of consideration to what I had to say.
I didn't make it out of the store before bursting into tears.
It's about 11PM now. I stopped shaking, stopped crying, and realized I made a mistake.
I am scared of in person confrontations, so I decided against arguing this on the spot.
Of course, this leaves a one sided and possibly biased story. Feel free to take my recount with a grain of salt and suspicion.
Also, if there's anything I need to apologize for, it would be that I left the two garments hanging on the wrong rack out of bitterness as I left the store.
Perhaps, the entire recollection can be swept under the rug to just leave my last thought:
Please make an effort to listen before you accuse someone. It hurts.
I never got an apology.
TL;DR Urban Behaviour employee sends me into wrong fitting room, accuses me of being in wrong fitting room without admitting or considering own fault.
