I absolutely love this store. It is so well put together and each aisle captures a customer's eye with displays, drink recommendations, etc. They have a wonderful selection of local and hard to find alcohol. We were able to find one of our favorites from our hometown in Michigan! The pricing is a bit more than you might find in other areas of Columbus, but given the location that is not a surprise. Usually when you see an upscale beverage store in a heavily trafficked area you equate it with inflated prices and pretentious service. This is not the case with Uptown Wine & Spirits. Their inventory will fulfill your spirit-ual needs and the people there are very personable. I was in a pinch and needed to grab a bottle of vino for dinner, so I stopped by to see what they had to offer. I was able to easily browse the wine selection and appreciated the descriptions for some of the top wines. When I decided on a bottle the gentleman ringing me up shared some knowledge about the wine and wished me an enjoyable evening. I will return for more dinner party needs in the future. read more

I've been in here about three times over the last couple years. The first time I just wanted to see what they had but was turned away by their higher than normal prices. The second time I was willing to pay the higher prices in hopes I would find one of the more interesting bottles I've been looking for, they didn't have it, nbd. The third time, today, I went in looking for a bourbon, very specific, and was told that I had to join the whiskey club, buy stuff from them to get points, keep checking in, and MAYBE get it. I'm not talking about a bottle of Pappy or something crazy, the fact that it was "allocated" meant they would hoard it in the back and use that as leverage to get people into a whiskey club. Dude, bottles of bourbon are "allocated" all the time and get put on shelves all over the country, I'm happy to check in once in a while on my own. Beyond that, each and every time Ive come in, I've dealt with varying degrees of whiskey snobbery and condescension. My second time in the guy actually argued with me over my taste in whiskey... dude, who cares?, sell me a $35 bottle or don't, I'm not interested in a $200 bottle of Whistle Pig, get over it. This last time was the last straw, the dude behind the counter was straight up rude (feel free to substitute more colorful language here). I was clearly wasting his time (there was nobody behind me), and ONLY asked him about a bottle of bourbon... when I wasn't interested in his whiskey club he snatched away the little card and threw it behind him like I wasted his time. Between the employees, the prices, and their hoarding of good bottles, I'm done with them. Maybe they'll get run off from downtown and we can get another crappy restaurant in its place... believe me, that would be more desirable. They clearly don't care about their customers. read more

I found this shop by accident while checking out the local eateries. First of all, its a nice size shop with a more than ample supply and diverse labels. The walk in beer cooler was cold. The staff was helpful but not pushy and responded only to my questions after the first greeting. I like that because i am on my time and schedule and enjoy just browsing. I must say that they also a variety of labels, from well-known, everyday stock to some unusual and limited bottles. I asked for my favorite, Abelour A'bundah, which is a cast strength scotch, that I have come to especially enjoy on occasions, with very good friends only. I was told they didn't typically stock it but could order. 10 days later, they called me, with a case in their inventory. I bought them all. I would probably give this shop 5 stars, except i have yet to see the "perfect" shop anywhere. Came here just to browse and the workers were very friendly. They have a huge selection of wines for great prices (for instance, they have Frank Family wines that are about $5-10 cheaper than you'll get in CA). Definitely recommend going here even if it's just to browse! read more

We just walked into this beautifully designed bottle shop in Columbus, GA and had the most unpleasant experience. We love popping into new stores and looking at bourbon. We like to experience bourbon and yes I'm extremely knowledgeable about bourbon and allocation. I "get it" -- as an owner you are probably tired of being asked about allocated bourbon and here's my response to you... then don't work in the industry and definitely don't treat your potential customers like they are beneath you. Furthermore, just because I don't live in the area -- I actually travel every week for work and come through your area-- so I find it interesting and irritating that you were so pompous to me. In addition, I don't want to be in your snobby bourbon club where you treat people poorly. I will definitely be spending my money with one of your competitors. P.S. I'm pouring my 2016 GTS now and thinking about how much you taint the bourbon world. read more
