Would rate 0 stars if possible. Don't waste your time or money. A therapist at the practice exhibited wildly inappropriate behavior during our session and was also under the influence. I left mid-session, but they still hunted me down for payment of this gross experience. When I reported it to the front desk they had a "not again" sort of reaction. Wow. Please, for your own mental health, stay far, far away. Been coming here for six years, 5 different psychiatrists. Anybody's who half way decent they make sure they don't stay long. I've been on the same prescriptions for nine years and one day they're new person, Christina Nguyen ( a rookie ), on her first day, has the audacity to tell me that it's against her "personal philosophy" to prescribe what I've been prescribed by every other doctor that's worked there, and every doctor before that, since I was twenty one. And she cut them by a third. Cold Turkey. Then forced a medicine down a medicine I vehemently expressed I disliked, and prescribed me three times what I was prescribed by that before. Anybody talking about the personal philosophy ( while refusing to listen to the person, who listening to is there damn agenda-ridden activist and no a doctor worth their salt. Everyone is all over the place there , rude front desk females ,they never have an answer to any questions asked, they always go to their " manager" for answers but then that manager only cares about payments, she's very dismissive. I wasn't able to keep my appointment and they made me rescheduled until I got paid they make it so difficult for patients to keep mental health in track , they don't care about their patients, unless it's a male person infront of them and they get to flirt that's the only thing that makes them happy ,very unprofessional, I highly recommend staying away from this place. read more

First I saw a psychiatirst and later a physician's assistant there. The psychiatirst was odd, but decent. The PA was completely inappropriate. She ignored a request for a medication refill. She also lectured me about how she would handle my weight issue when I did not ask and the issue was not in her purview. read more

I saw Dennis Delfosse, LCPC Psychotherapist for a few months and he was disengaged most of the time leaving during sessions to pick up packages and what not. He would end our sessions after half an hour. I understand the therapy hour but half an hour is the shortest session I've ever experienced in my 7 years of therapy. I think Dennis should reconsider his line of work or consider retiring since his skills as a healer are being impeded by his inability to be present for patients and his job. read more

This practice uptown psychiatry is one of the worst practices I have ever seen. 100% unprofessional 100% lacking in patient care and customer service. I came to this practice because I was suffering from prenatal depression and then after I gave birth postpartum depression the doctor told me to schedule a follow up which I did on ZOC DOC. I scheduled the appointment, a few days later the office canceled it I got an email from Zoc doc saying unfortunately the time was not available and they had to cancel. No one called me from the office to schedule a follow up no one called to apologize for canceling it to see if they could reschedule. As a paying customer it shouldn't be me that's calling to reschedule that since they are the ones that canceled and are posting available times. I ran out of medication and refilled it with Walgreens . Walgreens contacted the practice asking them to refill it they never responded to Walgreens so finally after being a week without medication I sent an email to the office. They said sorry you were supposed to reschedule the appointment that we canceled? I'm like are you kidding me and not only that wouldn't a professional office call me when Walgreens contacted them to refill the medications to say hey we cannot refill your medications you have to make an appointment I heard nothing but silence stay away from this horrible unprofessional practice. Great way to treat pregnant women and postpartum mothers. Receptionist also had the nerve to say they did everything in their power to contact me they did absolutely nothing except hit cancel on the ZOCOC. They are the ones that canceled they are the ones that never responded to Walgreens never notified me that there was a problem and yet they have the audacity to say they did everything in their power to contact me. at least take responsibility for your poor customer service and patient care and apologize. The only thing this practice did was charge my insurance a ludicrous amount of money. Stay away from this place if you need good medical care. Then was told I was charged for a missed appointment which I never had. Then I received a bill, and when I called they told me I didn't owe. I have been with this practice for several years. The desk staff is unorganized, but the first two of the three providers I've seen were professional and timely. Recently, and two days before my scheduled appointment, the office called to inform me my current provider was no longer with the practice. They scheduled me with a new provider, Margarita Kos for 3 weeks later. I asked about the continuation of my current prescriptions and was told she would make the request to have them filled by my new provider. My prescriptions were not refilled. During my first appointment, I went through a normal new-patient session where Margarita asked me questions about my health and medications. She responded with judgment to more than one of my responses. If the said judgment had prefaced her suggestions or explanations, I would have been more receptive, but I received nothing besides the judgment. She also indicated that many of the recent practitioners were fired as a result of their performance. Margarita, therefore, opposed continuing the treatment plan that had been satisfactorily managing my condition for more than 10 years. It was apparent to me that she wanted to discontinue prescribing this medication to me completely, but said we would revisit it after I (a person in good health) get an EKG. She wouldn't order the EKG either; I had to go to my PCP for this order. Meanwhile, my daily routine has become more cumbersome to navigate. I'm searching for a new mental health provider. read more

First of all, don't bother calling. You'll be on hold a minimum of 15 minutes every single time. Also, do not plan appointments if you have any other plans for the day, because you'll wait 10-15 minutes for the doctor to show up, even on Zoom. Don't get too comfortable with your doctor - they are a revolving door of doctors that don't stay very long. I've had SEVEN psychiatrists so far, and have to pay for a "first time" appointment each and every time, aside from starting all over. I had one amazing doctor who flat-out told me when I complained "Yeah, this place is kind of a factory for recent U of C grads, they all work here until they find a permanent place" so that explains it. read more

Okay. They want SSN and my credit card number over email. Credit card before I even walk in? Well the paperwork includes a meaty list of fees... This I assume is to readily collect a no show. After all, the doors on broadway are locked, and you have to find the entrance. The door doesn't have the same address. Fine... Poke my head in to interrupt some maskless staff chatting. Around the corner? I didn't see the Drs name on any of their doors, who knows. So my appointment was never set. I emailed to accept their appointment literally three hours later, around noon. Yet, never set. Neat. Their computer system I could tell was ancient. The staff member was apologetic anyway. By the way, I bill around $200 for provider no shows. If you're looking for psychiatric help, I implore you to look elsewhere. I have never had such overwhelmingly negative experiences with a mental health center. My Dr., who I won't name outright but is named in several other review here, refuses to speak to me AT ALL unless it was during a scheduled appointment. Urgent issue? Too bad. Call 911 or get another doctor. I also did not schedule a follow up on time (totally my fault) and he refused to give me a partial refill so I wouldn't go into withdrawal for the two weeks until our appointment. I admit I made a mistake but his refusal felt more like punishment for violating his rules more than anything. Furthermore, he refused to actually speak to me to explain his reasoning. He was more than happy to hide behind the reception desk since he does not provide a direct contact number. Uptown Psych does not care about you. They don't care about your extenuating circumstances. They only care about their petty rules and your money. Sure, they might be okay in the day to day but when you really need some compassion, caring and assistance they'll just hang you out to dry. Please just stay away. My psychiatrist just poofed on me. The office notified me in March that Dr. Robinson would be leaving the practice (a direct message from her would have been much preferred). I had what I expected to be my final appointment with her over the summer, and that's when she told me to disregard that message, as she had accepted a teaching job but then decided to also continue seeing patients through Uptown Psych. Flash forward to late September. I emailed her about a pending Rx refill, as I had done many times previously. I got the standard email auto-reply from her that said it could take up to two days for her to reply. On the third day, I emailed again, thinking maybe she's just extra busy now that she's also teaching. By day five, I was nervous and called the office. It took MULTIPLE calls to finally get through. The person I finally spoke to sounded very unsure of themselves and took forever confirming that Dr. R had left the practice (), and then it became pretty obvious that she had NO IDEA what to do about my lapsing prescription. I further explained my timeline, having no warning of Dr R leaving, and that even one day without my med would mean severe withdrawal. After nearly 20mins of hemming and hawing, she told me she'd have to call me back. I called again after a few hours of not hearing anything. The person I spoke to asked me to hold and hung up on me. Charming. I tried again and reached the original person. She insisted she left a voice mail (she did, but my phone didn't deliver it until hours later), and the solution I was offered was to schedule a new patient appointment (which are absurdly expensive $$$$$ at this practice!) with the next available psychiatrist, regardless of who I might actually wish to work with. There was zero offer to help me get in touch with Dr R or to refill my Rx for the few days in the interim. I ended up calling an entirely different practice that I had heard great things about and making an appointment for a few days later, still with no meds in the interim. As for Dr. Robinson herself, I used Google to track her down at Northwestern. The woman who answered the clinic phone was super on the ball and took my info, but three full days later, no response from Dr. R, despite knowing the situation she created and the severe withdrawal symptoms I experience when my refill is delayed. I was already unimpressed with her blasé approach to treating patients (for example, she didn't believe me about how awful Effexor withdrawal is until multiple other patients reported the same; never mind that a quick Google would have validated my reports!). I was continuing to see her mostly because I had zero faith I could find a better psychiatrist after so many duds over the years, but I never expected her to just disappear on me like this! Anyway, this practice is overpriced, unfriendly, and dropped the ball on notifying folks that Dr. R did, after all, decide to leave. Read the other one star reviews and spare yourself! read more

Had my first appointment scheduled with Dr. Ronald Rempfer and they called me to cancel one hour prior to the appointment. The reason I got was "He can't make it in today." Mind you, this was a video appointment. They had already charged me that morning for the appointment. I told them to cancel the charge and I'd look elsewhere for help. They confirmed. Two days later, I check my bank account and, sure enough, there's a $165 charge that cleared in my account. I can't speak to the actual medical service you'll get here, but if it's anything like the administrative staff, billing department, or the etiquette of Dr. Ronald Rempfer, I'd just look elsewhere. read more

Horrible experience. I booked my appointment over the phone and made clear I needed an appointment prior to Friday. We booked for Thursday. As I arrived they informed me that my appointment was moved to Saturday as the doctor only works until 3 pm -- my appointment was supposed to start at 3 pm. Made an appointment through ZocDoc but for some reason it changed the appointment to a different time on the same day (which didn't work for me)... when I looked at the Uptown Psych portal it was set for a completely different day. This was fine but when I called to clear up the confusion and ultimately cancel the appointment (because I got a text saying there might be cancellation fees that seemed ridiculous for me to pay since I never personally rescheduled this appointment), I was met with a rude receptionist who seems to hate her job. I thought maybe it was just me and maybe the receptionist was just having a bad day. So I went to Yelp out of curiosity. Sounds like I'm not the only one who's encountered these issues at Uptown Psych. Utterly unprofessional and dysfunctional. Would not recommend 0/10. I really like my doctor Dr. Babatunde Ogundipe. With that said I'm an "easy" patient and only require medication check ins every 4-5 months. The office/administrative side is hell though. They charged me out of pocked for a visit even though I've had multiple ones previously that were covered by insurance. They refused to file the claim first and then charge me because "that's not how it works here". Demanded I get my insurance on the phone with them (they couldn't call them) so they could be told my visits are still covered. Finally they understood they are and told me my visit would be refunded. A week goes by and nothing. I call and they tell me they can refund me or give me credit (why didn't anyone tell me this a week ago, why did I have to follow up) so my two options are $140 credit I will take forever to use up since I don't see the doctor very often or a refund that will take over 30 days to be mailed to me. Once I also had a zocdoc appointment and when my doctor had to reschedule my zocdoc didn't change so they don't seem to communicate with them either. I'm usually a pretty passive person but I am considering finding a new psychiatrist because this has been so mentally exhausting. read more

I've been on hold for 10+ minutes each time over the past two days and she does not come back. I call again and again immediately put on hold. They never followed up with me, and then canceled my appointment with no warning, telling me I could not get another appointment for another 2 months. They canceled my appointment in error and were extremely rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. I'm pretty frustrated with Uptown Psych. In two years, I had two primary psychiatrists leave. The first was wonderful, and the second was good. But the second one didn't even tell me she was leaving - the front desk called me and said she put in her two weeks and I needed to schedule a mh assessment. So I scheduled my THIRD assessment with them in two years... On my way to the assessment with psychiatrist #3, I called the front desk to let them know I was running 5 minutes behind, and they said oh, she is out sick. They said they had called to try to let me know. I checked my phone log and yes - they had called me ONE time, an hour before my appointment, and had not left a voicemail. After that, I decided not to go back. I'm disappointed in the front desk communication, and I have a lot of difficulty trusting a practice that has that much turnover. An absolutely deplorable place when it comes to front desk customer service and the billing department. It's completely and totally not right to ask for a down payment before you even see the Dr. for the first time and then when there is a difference from that and what the insurance pays, the promise of a check but they don't follow through. Shady! It's been nearly 2 months and after ANOTHER phone call today, the employee hung up on me and LITERALLY blocked my number when I asked for the check to be issued AGAIN! Yes, blocked my number. I've been going there for 5 years. I could go on and on about how incompetent the front desk is and how "awkward" Dr. Remford is. The tipping point for me was finding out there is no way to leave him a voicemail and he doesn't have a work email for his patients. To email him I have to send an email to info@uptownpsych and it takes 48 hours for a response. Then someone emails back on his behalf. After being rear ended at a stop light and getting hurt in the accident, I struggled with anxiety and driving. I called Uptown Psych and was referred to Dr. Dolley. Dr. Dolley is very knowledgeable and offers applicable strategies to assist with your mental health issue. Additionally, he is patient and not only offers relevant suggestions but takes the time to actually listen and ask valid questions to help guide your thinking. Overall my experience working with Dr. Dolley has added value to my quality of life. read more

I made an appointment on Friday as a new patient to work with a psychiatrist Dr. Sharma. the appointment was set for Tuesday afternoon 3 pm. I received conformations with a new intake form that had to be submitted 48hours prior to the appointment on Friday evening. I decided to fill it & send it out later today(Saturday) but not even 24hours after I made the appointment, I receive a text saying my appointment has been cancelled bec I did not send the intake forms, this was really upsetting as this is 72 hours before my appointment and not 48hours as previously mentioned AS PER THEIR policy. I was extremely distressed and desperate to keep my appointment. As anyone that's taking this first step knows how anxious it can feel. I called the office and was put on hold. Monica, the receptionist is the most apathetic human ever. I was clearly frantic on the phone about my appointment being cancelled bec I NEED to see someone, I mentioned what happened and told them I was about to send my intake forms today (Saturday) which is 72 hours prior, she said "sorry ma'am its cancelled" and in the most condescending tone "ma'am, ma'am, this is our policy" and "if I keep your spot and you don't send over the forms you'll be charged $150 for cancellation" Well your policy and email sates 48 hours Saturday is 72hours away from Tuesday. They didn't even send a courtesy call or email or text, they just canceled the appointment. I was so distressed. I get all you care about is your money and treating patients like a dollar bag. this is a mental health clinic, she was so rude and didn't care about how a cancelation would affect a mental health client. clearly Monica cares only about policy and not patients. I HOPE the doctors see this because Monica is the face of your business, its our first interaction with a mental health clinic and she needs to be retrained or fired because she is not equipped to be interacting with human beings let alone a distressed mental health patient. I was referred to doctor Robinson. She was great until she had stuff going on in her personal life and kept canceling. One time I showed up for my appt, as I checked in they told me she wouldn't be coming in. No one apologized,but still tried to charge me for my appt. I started seeing Dr. kapa, the virtual appt didn't work so I had to come into the office. Every time I need a refill for prescription they avoid filling it, until I called and complained. They are extremely unhelpful when it comes to booking appointments and don't listen. They scheduled me for a date and time without even asking me. I emailed responding that it didn't work, they ignored that and sent a confirmation. If you struggle from anxiety or depression...don't go here! I discourage all who maybe considering this office for their emotional needs. Dr. Rempher has a bad bedside manner to say the least. I and my child didn't feel we were listened. Isn't it the very first thing you are supposed to do when you are treating emotions? How would you say my child is not getting better with knowing my child lost their father when you are supposedly licensed professional. I guess it was either he forgot about it or losing a father is insignificant. Wrapping up our 20-minute Zoom meeting with saying, " I have to go" didn't sit well with me. My therapist gives me a whole hour yet she doesn't get to prescribe meds even she knows me more than he could ever know me if I were his patient. He called 911 on us without telling me he did after saying it was up to us whether I'd take my child to ER or not. Then, he called in, too convenient it looks to me. Did he dump all of his patients in his partner doctor? He was going to have a time off in the following week... I guess he doesn't know it costs me $2,500 for us to go one mile to our nearest ER. I was charged for the appt even though i was the one that was cancelled on without being contacted. missed work for this appt so i lost even more money than they took from my bank account for no reason. Stay away!! Keep a close eye on the office managers credit/debit card billing scam!! Overcharging my cards for co-pays, billing my card for a visit when I didn't even have an appointment, charging me a deductible when my insurance plan is exempt from deductibles with mental health visits, (overcharged $300) then, admitted their mistakes and got angry with me for calling her out!only allow office visit credit instead of issuing a refund like I requested! They held me financially hostage. I think Pam (the office manager) is embezzling funds!! read more

I apparently made an appointment a few months ago, which I never received any call, text or email confirmation of. I forgot about the appointment. Today I received a text stating I owe them $100 and that if I don't pay, I will be sent to collections. I was with uptown Psych for a while so I could get Adderall for my ADHD. I recently moved so I had to get my prescription from another Walgreens. I had an appointment to get a refill and for 2 weeks I was not able to get my prescription because my psychiatrist would it send the pharmacy the instructions! I left messages almost everyday with Uptown Psych asking if they could handle this but I was never able to get my refill! This was extremely frustrated because I told me doctor I was going to take an exam a week after my appointment with him and I was not able to get my prescription for my exam! I was extremely disappointed in the care I received on Tuesday, April 7th. Being in the mental health field, your staff should be aware of how difficult it is just to make the call to begin the process of getting help. To be denied the opportunity to even speak with the doctor during a scheduled appointment time was beyond discouraging. What if I had lost all hope and was at the end of my rope?? The discussion I had with Marrita and then her supervisor should have taken place with the doctor. I found Maritta and her supervisor ill-informed and unqualified to be in the position of gate keepers in the field of mental health. Perhaps a refresher course is needed on how to best care for people in need of your services. At the very least, your staff could benefit from rereading your mission statement: "Our specialists understand that episodes of these and other mental health issues require prompt attention. With that in mind, the entire team is dedicated to making treatment accessible as soon as possible."  I certainly did not see "a commitment to bring the best possible, evidence-based mental health services to the Chicago metropolitan area" demonstrated. I would be hesitant to ever refer anyone to this facility. read more

My scheduled appt time was 4:15pm; which I have just about 10 emails to prove. I called and immediately got put on hold by the rudest receptionist I've ever interacted with. She told me my appt was at 4 and said they don't have a "4:15 slot". She said they were missing information from me; I told her I got their emails but there were no directions with the login they sent me. She had an attitude and hung up on me when I decided not to reschedule. Now every number I try to find and call back leads to this ignorant front desk staff. Went back to Zocdoc to cancel the appt and it won't let me cancel it! They better not charge me a dime! read more
