UPDATE: I am no longer sad that this review is one star. I wish I could change it to zero stars. A newscaster reached out to Kevin and he actually answered, but he said that my husband stayed in their office while they cleaned it and picked it up to "sell for extra money". Shame on Kevin for this -- we had such a great experience with Rick and for Kevin to be doing this now? It is an absolute disgrace. I am glad we have copies of all communications and responses from Kevin!!! -- I am so sad to be leaving a poor review, but I do not know what else to do. My husband dropped off my engagement ring and wedding bands off to be cleaned, and we have not been able to pick it up. We dropped it off in May and when he went back to get it, no one was at the office. That is when we started calling and emailing for updates. The mobile number for Kevin goes straight to voicemail, and the mailbox is full. The office number rings and is forwarded to a mobile number, and the mailbox for that number is also full. We have sent Facebook messages to no avail. I'm freaking out. I want my ring back and I don't know how to get into contact with anyone - I don't know how else to get someone's attention. read more

I don't know where to start but I went to 9 different stores before I finalized with Uptown Diamond. Rick never pressured me to choose him during my hunt for the perfect one. I went to 5 different stores after meeting wihim but he was genuine and that's why I chose them. Rick made my vision come true. In fact, he went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I am so glad I found them. Rick and his team are highly knowledgeable and professional. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend them to anybody that is in the market looking for a trustworthy business. read more

Rick is the best in the business, hands down. I was originally shopping at an online retailer but decided to look into a jeweler locally. After my first initial consultation with Rick I knew he was the guy to get the job done. Our appointments were mostly at my work lunch time and he was quick, straight to the point, and did everything I could of asked for and more. I gave him two separate pictures of engagement rings styles I was interested in and within a couple days he had the 3D artwork of exactly what I wanted. The whole process was stress and pressure free. My fiance absolutely loved the ring and wanted to go back to Rick for our wedding bands and that experience was just as great as the first. If I had re-do the process, I would definitely come back to Rick at Uptown Diamond. read more

I am so thankful that Rick was there to help my husband pick out my engagement ring!! After giving my now-husband general hints about what I wanted, Rick helped him design the ring of my dreams! When he proposed, I was so shocked by the ring that I think I forgot to say yes at first. Rick helped him from start to finish, and was able to build him a 3D design rendering so he could see what it would look like. I received so many compliments on my engagement ring that of course we had Rick design our wedding bands as well. Their prices were very fair and the quality is unbeatable! If you want an engagement ring that you will cherish for the rest of your life, Uptown Diamond is the place to go! Attaching a picture below (excuse the lighting with my iPhone) read more

I stumbled upon Uptown Diamond's instagram a few years ago and had been falling in love with the designs since! My (now) husband and I started discussing rings and we went to literally every big name and small name store possible to find THE ring. All of the rings we saw were absolutely beautiful and perfect...just not the right one for me. I called Uptown Diamond in tears begging for an appointment. I was getting SO overwhelmed with sales people and just needed someone to LISTEN to what I wanted. Rick got us in IMMEDIATELY. Within minutes, Rick had my dream ring drawn up. Didn't question anything. He listened. He was patient. I told him things I thought I wanted and he talked me off of ledges I am so happy I listened to. Multiple times. Shockingly, Rick is way more fashion forward than I could ever be. When I was stern about what I wanted, he would bite his tongue. Then I'd go home and research his suggestions and found that I loved his way MUCH more. He can be as involved or as little involved as you'd like - and I loved that. I needed help. There is something very very special about crafting your very own design and watching it come to life. There is not another ring out there like mine. It's custom. Don't let the word "custom" make you think you can't afford it. I assure you, it could be a fraction of what these other big name brands are telling you. Set up an appointment, talk about your budget, show Rick what you want, and when you propose - let your girlfriend/fiance/fiancee/whomever know you did it all custom and get the brownie points you deserve. I'd knock Rick down a point - or three - because he's not an Alabama fan but at least he's a Longhorn fan ;) read more

Shopping for rings for your proposal and wedding can be hard, especially if you're like me and have never bought gemstone jewelry before. Thankfully, Rick and Uptown Diamond made this process easy! He was quick to respond and helped craft a beautiful engagement ring for my fiancee. Though I live in New York, he made this process easy last year by staying in constant communication and FaceTiming to show me various stones. She absolutely adores the ring and the pricing was fair for what was purchased. This summer, while preparing for my wedding, I knew exactly who to turn to again to design her wedding band. Once again, Rick was fast to design the ring and ship it to me. Thank you, Rick, for helping my fiancee truly sparkle on her wedding day! read more

Uptown Diamond is the absolute best place to find the perfect item to make anybody's day. When it comes to custom jewelry, they are completely unmatched. Over an almost 6 month span of planning, Grayland Noah helped me choose the best diamond and ring for my engagement. He and his team work tirelessly to create beautiful works of art. I really couldn't be happier with the engagement ring that Uptown made for my future wife. My favorite part of the experience was how comfortable Grayland made me feel. I had gone ring shopping for a little while prior to ending up at Uptown Diamond and that whole experience was brutal. Pushy sales reps trying to upsell me to items outside of my budget, fancy industry jargon with no explanation, it was very hard feel at ease trying to spend more money on a single item than I ever had before. Uptown Diamond provides the exact opposite. Grayland took his time to listen to what I was looking for. He made sure I understood what the jargon means and why I should keep an eye out for specific components. I never felt rushed or pushed to make a decision, which is why I stuck with Uptown. 10/10 - would do business with again read more

We approached Rick and Uptown Diamond based on reviews we read online and their social media presence. Rick and his team were fantastic from the first time we stepped in the door. My now fiance had a very specific stone color and ring in mind and I thought it was going to be a major challenge to make that dream a reality. However, Rick couldn't have surprised me anymore with what he was able to do and the stone he located! However, it's not just his craftsmanship, and attention to detail that reals you in. It's his approach with people. Rick makes you feel like you are the center of his attention every time you come in and will never hesitate to give you his honest answers and concerns. He also makes it a point to stay in touch with everyone, not just the people that come in with big money projects. I would highly recommend anyone and everyone to Uptown Diamond and Rick with any kind of jeweler project they have in mind. I have no doubt he will exceed your expectations. read more

Purchased a custom wedding ring for my wife from this uptown diamond company. Been customer for many years. After main owner passed his partner took over. I have to get my wife's ring repaired because a diamond fell out on side. Ive been calling owner which gave me his number after last year having to pick up my ring from him at his kids baseball game... Not professional first red flag but not crazy big deal. Now ive been trying to contact this company to book appointment for repair of the ring and no answer or anything for over a month now. Inside at store has a sign with email on it to book appointments. 2 weeks no replies. This doesnt look good for company to act this way to customers who have spent thousands on a wedding ring. Buyers be weary of this place. I feel ive been screwed at this point. Will change review if they reach out to me. Untill then 1 star... I reached out to (sage plaza) business owners and they contacted uptown diamond. Still no reply from this company. read more

Thanks again Rick for working with Carlos and doing such a wonderful job on the ring! You guys are the best!! Below is Carlos' review from his experience with Rick and Uptown Diamond: After looking at countless rings at the popular engagement ring stores, my then girlfriend and I decided that custom setting would be the best option since neither of us liked what we saw. We got a quote for nearly $4500 (including a $400 CAD fee and some $150 warranty) for just the setting from a big engagement ring store after being passed around to numerous salesmen only to have to explain again what exactly we wanted. After this experience, I felt discouraged because I did not want to spend thousands of dollars on a ring/diamond that I was just "okay with". Thankfully, I found Uptown Diamond on Yelp. Rick worked with us from day one to create a unique ring for my fiancée. Rick and his team generated 4 or 5 CAD model revisions and 2 or 3 3D-printed waxes during the whole process per my requests. Despite the fact that we were very specific with the design we wanted (we're both engineers), Rick was always receptive and understood what we were asking. He never tried to BS or up-sell me. Rick and his team created a beautiful one-of-a-kind setting at a fraction of the price that the other store wanted to charge me. Also, he believes so much in the quality of his diamonds that they are Bonded (warrantied against defect and decline in value) AND if you want to trade-up or sell back the diamond, you get the FULL value you paid. No other diamond retailer in Texas offers this policy that I know of. Rick told me when I picked up the ring after months of discussion with him, that I was probably one of the slowest and most detail oriented clients he's ever had, and he's right. When you're buying a ring the price of a new car, you want to take it slow. But any other retailer wouldn't have the patience to deal with me. Rick and the people at Uptown Diamond design custom engagement rings because it's their passion, not because they want to sell as many rings as they can, and it shows. Thank you for doing such an awesome job!!! read more

I met with Grayland a week ago today. Got to sit down with him and listen to all the famous people he had met, how his customers had followed him from his previous employer, got to hear him badmouth his old employer, heard about his collection of classic cars, how he played football for LSU, how he had designed an engagement ring for Roger Clemens son, got to polish a super bowl trophy, ... I could go on. After over an hour of listening to all of his self-proclaimed accomplishments, I told him I needed to get back to work and asked if he could wrap it up. He finally pulled out a diamond! Nice diamond, comparable price to competitors, it was what I was had asked for. After another 45 minutes of unnecessary conversation, I finally was able to escape. I asked him to send me the megascope report and diamond grading details via E-mail. It has been a week and I still have not received anything from him, and don't really care to anymore. If you want to hear some boastful stories and look at signed pictures from professional athletes, this is the place. If you're looking for a diamond, go elsewhere. read more

Came in here a while back. It's a nice place. Front desk lady was polite and professional. I was there for an engagement ring. I met with Grayland. He was very crass and seemed a little rude at times. It was like he didn't want my business because I wasn't a rich spender. Like I was wasting his time. The price they gave me was way over what other places offered. I ended up going somewhere else and got a diamond that was better and bigger than theirs at a great price. I would not recommend this place based on my experience for your jewelry needs. read more

Uptown Diamond came highly recommended from a friend of my fiancee's. After "shopping around" and speaking with other jewelers, I am very happy we decided to go with Lindsey and her staff at Uptown. UD custom-made an extremely intricate, highly detailed version of the ring of my fiancee's dreams. We honestly couldn't tell the difference between the version they created and the original designers. They really hit a home run with our experience, our customer service and the creation of our ring. It was a cool experience to be apart of every step of the ring making process. They allowed us to be a part of everything including the digital rendering, trying on a wax model replication and of course making sure the finished product was 100% to our satisfaction. Because of the intricacy of the diamond placement, they assured us that if we EVER had any complications with the ring, they would fix and replace where needed, no questions asked and no problems at all. This kind of trustworthiness and customer assurance is an unmatched feeling when it comes to making the type of investment necessary in this process. From their facilities and their staff of professionals to their transparency in the ring making process, everything about UD is top notch. I'd highly recommend Uptown Diamond to anyone looking to take that next step with their significant other. No need to look elsewhere because Uptown Diamond has it all. Great staff, professional facilities, transparency in their ring making process and very reasonable pricing. Thank you Lindsey and UD! read more

I bought my diamond earrings from Rick several years back and have had always amazing customer service from him. I moved out of state a few years ago and have had to mail my earrings in. I didn't know about Rick's passing and was wondering why when I emailed him he didn't respond regarding if he had received my earrings for yearly inspection. I called the office to get a verbal confirmation and that is when I learned what happened to him. I spoke to the new owner and he had no idea what to do with my earrings even though the paperwork for annual inspection was in there. I suppose my earrings were sitting in the office for days and nobody even bothered with it. All of that got cleared away and I was pretty understanding with the fact that there's sudden changes in the office here we are again another year and I need to send my earrings for another inspection. I'm always nervous about mailing expensive jewelry and I always call ahead to make sure they know that I am about to send them in. The receptionist says it's fine to go ahead and send them in but I delayed doing so. And let me say I am beyond glad that I did not send them in because now I can't reach anybody in the office. I was in town and wanted to bring them in personally but again I could not reach anybody by phone and their website to send an email to them wasn't working correctly. If you try calling by phone it forwards to a mobile number and from there it will tell you that the mailbox is full. That is usually not a good sign and that they are being inundated with calls. I eventually was able to send an email through their website. I sent a detailed message that I've been trying to get a hold of them and left my complete contact info. I never got contacted. It's been months now. My take away on this? The business is in trouble and likely going under. Seeing other reviews confirms my suspicions. Thank goodness I never sent my diamond earring as I likely would've never gotten them back. read more

I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted for my wedding set, but I definitely wasn't finding it in the retail stores I had visited. Then I heard about Rick Antona. We met to discuss designs, and he provided expert advice and education while asking just the right questions to help me narrow down my preferences. We ended up using a center diamond that had been my mother's, but resetting it and adding sapphires and so many other touches that made it my own! His attention to detail and dedication to getting things just right far surpassed my expectations. I found the prices to be extremely reasonable, and I appreciated that he was so happy to work with me even though I wasn't purchasing a large diamond. I couldn't be happier with my beautiful rings - thank you Rick Antona and Uptown Diamond!! read more

Grayland and the Uptown Diamond team really got me out of a huge pickle and I couldn't be more thankful. I had spent an exorbitant amount of time researching and reading about diamonds and the perfect ring for my fiance. I had gone to a multitude of different vendors and jewelers around the city to get an idea and I thought I was set when I arrived at Diamond Cutters International actually after working with Fred. I was so close to signing the dotted line for a ring there that the pen was in my hand when I hesitated and eventually got out. This isn't the place to complain about another company, but let's just say there were way too many sales techniques and pressure pushed on at the last moment that made me say no and get out. When I got out I had no idea what I had just done because I had very limited time to make a purchase. As I was still in the lobby of Diamond Cutters I realized there was one last place I needed to try: Uptown Diamond. The guys at Uptown mostly all came from DCI and they came with good reason after having experiencing the oddness only an hour earlier. Needless to say, I was able to secure a meeting with Grayland very easily and I was treated significantly better from the time I called to the time I left. Everyone there is easy to talk to and you don't get a strange vibe like I had previously experienced. Grayland and I were able to make a custom design I wanted based on another I had seen at a significantly better price. The amount of knowledge they have about diamonds is impressive and it will shatter your perception of any other jeweler you visit while ring shopping. Zadoks, Blue Nile, Robbins Brothers, you name it, they'll beat it easily and point out all their flaws which you can easily identify for yourself. I'll be honest. At the time of this purchase I am in my 20's and can only afford so much. Uptown will work with your budget and make sure you get the best bang for your buck. Sure I can get a 2ct round diamond at Jareds or Robbins Brothers just down the street, but I'll be sure that it won't have anywhere remotely the same cut and quality of Uptown. Ask yourself, do you want quality, or do you just want the biggest rock you can find regardless of how it looks? Long story short: There's no reason to go to any other shop because Uptown will beat it with quality. I already did that and it was very wasteful. Save yourself the time and trouble. Thanks again Grayland and the Uptown Diamond team for an easy process and a job well done! read more

1st time shopping for an engagement ring quickly went from excitement to frustration after visiting several chain jewelers. My fiancée and I met with Rick back in December because we knew we wanted to get engaged. Rick and his entire team were very professional, attentive, and friendly -- and as an added bonus for me, it was awesome to run into a fellow New Yorker! Rick was very kind, honest, and educated us on not only his process, but on the diamond industry as a whole. He communicated and illustrated that he really was on our team, and empowered us to make the wisest and best decision given our budget and overall wishes. The cherry on top was the fact that he applied no pressure on us, and really helped us take our time. In terms of time, Rick and his team work in a very timely fashion and really met and surpassed our needs. I'm certain we'll work with him for our wedding bands as well, but I can't recommend Rick highly enough! read more

I have used Rick and the team at Uptown Diamond over the last 12 years to buy everything from engagement and wedding rings to necklaces, other pieces of jewelry. Everything that they have designed has turned out more amazing than I could have ever imagined. The first time I met with Rick when I was shopping for an engagement ring, he spent more than an hour just educating me on diamonds and what I should look for without trying to sell me. Uptown Diamond stands behind everything they make and there isn't a storefront jewelry store that comes close to the service, price and commitment that they offer. I will be a customer for life. Thank you for everything you do and I challenge anybody who is shopping for any type of jewelry to stop by or call Uptown Diamond before you decide. I had a great experience and could not recommend Uptown Diamond more! True quality in the customer service and product!

I can't say enough about Rick and his team that hasn't already been said. I went to a ton of the local Houston spots to look for engagement rings. I had one bad experience after another. This included one particularly bad experience at Robins Brothers where I was led to believe I HAD to open a line of credit in order to proceed. I got desperate and searched "diamonds" on Yelp. Uptown Diamonds came up first. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't skeptical. If the reviews are too good to be true you have to be careful. However, I immediately felt at ease with Rick. He made me feel like his top priority. He listened to my concerns and was respectful of my budget. Also he showed me some other cool projects he was involved with including other engagement rings, drum sticks, and super bowl rings...very cool! From day 1 he helped design a custom made ring. He gave me light reading to become a more informed buyer and never once pressured me to purchase anything. I came in to approve every step along the way! When I finally came in to pick up the finished product I was blown away. It was better than I imagined. After I proposed, we took the ring back to be resized and Rick did it very quickly. It was such a cool process from the CAD design, to the 3D wax printer, to picking excellent cut diamonds, and finally the hand made ring. What an experience! I know I forgot something but this was a great experience and my fiancé loves the rock! I can't wait to work with Rick on the wedding bands. read more

First ever review from me on Yelp, I need to compliment this group. Working with Rick and Uptown Diamond was great. He creates a very comfortable atmosphere when looking for a perfect engagement ring. By perfect I mean his team will make exactly what you want and fast. I was frustrated from a few experiences at the big box stores in the area and found Uptown on Yelp. Having been on my fourth store I was a bit hesitant, but Rick made that all disappear in about 5 minutes. He did a fantastic job educating on the 4-C's and sends some great literature if you want a little more reading. I walked out with a great impression and no pressure to make a decision. When we started the process, I brought in a few pictures of rings I was trying to incorporate and I walked through the design step by step. They turn a ring around fast too!! I worked with them for six weeks to get my ring, only because I was out of town for 3 of them and went through 4 iterations with the designer. Going to start off saying that Grayland had the best diamonds that I saw after going looking at three other places in town. We had a little hiccup to start off our initial meeting which is why I did go look at two of the other three retailers, but in the end Grayland and Uptown not only ended up being the best I saw, his willingness to work with me and undo our initial poor beginning has made me more than happy to be a customer of his and recommend him and Uptown to others. The quality of the diamonds and the ability to create practically any design is a great selling point, but he will also offer free cleanings and send out reminders for checking the prongs on the setting. Only one other place I went to even offered free cleanings. Bottom line I will happily recommend him and Uptown Diamond to others, as my cousin and another friend recommended him to me. I also look forward to working with him in the future on any other jewelry needs. read more

I have been engaged for a little over a year and I have learned more information about diamonds and jewelery than I previously expected too. I mean most of my boyz who are married say that their experience was not really about learning and was more about figuring out which ring you liked and who was ripping you off the least. This is truly sad. A lot of jewelery stores seem to be set up to take advantage of people's ecstatic emotions. When I shopped for my fiancee's ring I found Diamond Cutters International where I stumbled upon Rick Antona who was truly a blessing.(see my Diamond Cutters International Review) Not only did he educate me about how to buy the best diamond, especially within my budget, he guided me through the emotions of the entire ring buying experience. At Diamond Cutters International he was truly a blessing to me and made me feel comfortable with process of buying my fiancee's engagement ring and she absolutely loves her ring. So fast forward a few months and I get an email from Rick stating that he is leaving Diamond Cutters and he is starting his own store called Uptown Diamond. When I heard this my heart nearly feel to the floor. Who would help me with the rest of the process? Who would help me get wedding bands? Wedding jewelery?! Anniversaries gifts?! Birthdays gifts?! OMG!!! I couldn't tolerate the idea of being sent out into the cold cruel world of rip-you-off jewelery stores. But my fear was short-lived. Because several weeks later, Rick invited me to his open house for Uptown Diamond and after the event I knew that all was still right in the world (BTW..the open house was a totally killer event) Rick and his awesome staff explained the level of service that would be offered at Uptown Diamond (i.e. ring design, 100% money-back guarantee, etc.) After my near panic attack, I met with Rick and he as usual was warm, welcoming, and reassuring. He worked with me to help me establish a reasonable budget for our wedding bands. Within one meeting we had a design for the band and within several weeks the rings were ready for pick-up. And of course the quality was spectacular. Rick made sure that everything was completely seemless and worry free. And on top of that the jewelry is fully bonded, meaning that our jewelry is an asset not a debt or liability. No matter where I am in this country, Uptown Diamond and Rick Antona will always be my jeweler. With all of the crap jewelry out there that I can spot from a mile away. Rick provided the utmost quality product and with absolutely superior service and care. Thanks Uptown Diamond for being a pillar of class in the diamond/jewelery business. read more

When we picked up our bands, they were able to resize within 15 minutes and even cleaned and tightened diamonds on my engagement ring (which wasn't even purchased from them). I had been conducting business with Fred at Diamond Cutters International since the 1990s. I had always highly respected the quality of service and the product from his company. I like Fred a lot. I thought I would be buying from him for many years. Unfortunately, I made a fairly large purchase from Diamond Cutters in the last couple years where it was clear the salesperson/manager (Dee) was not honest with me and made decisions without my approval (i.e. she completely changed the design of my wife's ring without notifying us). It seems Fred is removed from the operations these days and some of his best people have left. I will never do business with Dee and Diamond Cutters again. In November, I made the decision I would buy some diamond earrings for my wife as a Christmas present. I was very happy to find that Rick, who worked at Diamond Cutters years ago, had started Uptown Diamond a couple years prior. Let me tell you, Rick is doing business like Diamond Cutters used to. It was a great experience for me and I appreciate the fine work Rick and his team did. My wife is very happy with her new earrings and I will be returning there for years to come. -AB read more

He takes care of you no matter what. DCI just gives you the run around and tells you what you want to hear. If you need to return your ring, just make sure you have the ring looked at EVERY year. I missed one year and they want to give me less then half of what my ring is worth. It's not the whole set either, just the solitare. I told Rick about what was going on so he's taking care of everything now. I HIGHLY recommend Uptown Diamond. Great guys and will work with you on anything and everything!!! read more
