Uptown Boca is a brand new $200 million shopping lifestyle center in west Boca Raton. It is on 13 acres where Glades Road meets State Road 7. The location was a former 38 acre farm purchased in 2018 by Schmier Property Group. I have noticed that these kind of lifestyle complexes where you can live and shop are becoming extremely popular. Uptown Boca has seven towers of one- to four-bedroom luxury residences for a total of 456 mid-rise apartments. There is also 180,000 square feet of retail stores, places to eat, entertainment. and services. Although only a few businesses are open, eventually Uptown Boca will have a Silverspot Cinema, an organic supermarket, Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar, Bonefish Grill, Italian mini chain Lynora's Kitchen and Mexican Naked Taco. Sloan's, an ice cream chain is set to open this month. Open since January is Olive U, a Mediterranean bowl restaurant, Burger Fi, Just Salad, and Chik-Fil-A. Also open is REI, an outdoor sports store and Paradise Grills. Exciting things are coming to this corner of Boca. Stay tuned for more updates.

Brand new mixed use complex with a huge apartment complex. In front is a retail complex with mainly restaurants and some retail. Restaurants include Lazy Dog, Bonefish Grill, Lynora's, Olive U, Just Salads, Zen Sushi, Naked Taco, Bolay, Burger Fi, Paradise Grills, and Chick-A-Fil. Not all are opened. There is also a REI store.

This is a strip mall in Boca Raton built in 1984 on 441, north of Glades Road. This 15-acre…read moreshopping center has 109,228 square feet of retail space. There is a mix of shopping, dining, and services. Tenants include Edwin Watts Golf, Denny's (fashion), Harmon Face Values (health, beauty, cosmetics), Soon's Asian Bistro, Lee's Barbecue (grills and fireplaces), Enterprise, Progressive, Subway, Stella's (pizza), TNT Grooming, Pinch a Penny, and Pediatric Associates which I have taken my daughter to in the past. I was hoping to visit Cake Stand, a new bakery recommended to me by a friend but it was closed. One business that is unique is the We Rock The Spectrum Kid's Gym. It is a kids gym with autistic children and their parents in mind but all kids are welcome to come. Their motto is "Finally a Place Where You Never Have to Say I'm Sorry is not about what the kids do." this sounds like a great resource for parents with special needs children. The shopping center looks empty and dated but it is currently undergoing a major facade upgrade which will include landscaping, lighting, and new drive aisles for better access to the businesses. Some of the businesses only have banners for signs right now so you really have to look for them. Hopefully some new businesses will move in when the improvements are done.

We were heading south from other shopping and decided to stop here after visiting another nearby…read morethrift store that we'd been to before. This was our first time here. There was a gal vacuuming at the time we came by. The vacuum was heating up and smoking a bit, so she was concerned. There were also some students or volunteers or young new employees -- I couldn't tell which -- being given a tour of the store as we were there. Both were a bit distracting. They have some inventory that will appeal depending on what you're looking for... they don't have much furniture wise. There's a bit of a bunch of different things --linens, housewares, silverware, electronics, books, clothing etc., etc. Most things are organized together by category. Price wise, it's a mix of decent prices and high prices. They have some of the more expensive items near the counter. We didn't love something enough to buy anything here. But we are still glad we came to check them out.

At first their inventory was made up of there own items but now everything they sell is donated. I love their mission which is to help animals. The Shed Thrift is a nonprofit that donates its proceeds to various veterinary hospitals in the area to support people on social security or limited income who need life-saving surgeries for their pets. I collect vintage pieces and Shed Thrift had some items like a chandelier and a set of glasses. They also had furniture, appliances, bikes, guitars, household goods, collectibles, books, movie, CD's, clothing, accessories, and more. With the influence of DIY shows showcasing recycling and re-purposing, thrifting is more popular than ever. Thrift stores help people save money and keep items out of the landfill. Shed Thrift has some unique items like a jukebox that you didn't typically see in the local area thrift stores. With their mission to help vulnerable pets, this store is an assist to Coral Springs.
